Says Announcement Coming ‘Very Soon’

Quote:
“I will say this. There’s a character out there that we’re going to announce very soon that I’m going to play, and I’ll just say this: This character has the power of Superman, he can throw down. Just say the word. That’s all I’m going to say.”

Shazam?

he was in the WWF, I always thought he would make a perfect action hero / superhero. I'm glad he was able to get past perhaps the many opinions that viewed him as just a wrestler and not capable of crossing over into mainstream acting.
Who will play Billy?

Maybe that kid from The Sixth Sense?

I think you can argue at this point (unless I'm missing a very obvious one) he is the most successful wrestler to cross over into mainstream entertainment ever. Hulk Hogan was more famous, but it was still for his WWF exploits. He never had the success outside the ring that The Rock is having (and I still call think of him as "The Rock.")
It seems likely to be Shazam

some people think Black Adam, but I can't see him playing a villain.

For a high-level swerve, it might be Cyborg from new52.
Rocky banked somewhere near $90 million the past two years

from movies.

He's doing nicely for himself.

Rock in terms of "second career" is clearly the most successful ever in terms of money/fame. Ventura being governor is obviously one of the most successful ever as well. I was always surprised Piper didn't have a bigger career as an actor.
i'd like him alot better

The Sixth Sense was filmed over 15-16 years ago. That little kid in the movie, Haley Joel Osment is now 26.

Oh why he got to be black, huh? Ever since they posted that article about the lack of top-rank black WWE stars people been pointing out how black the man is
I think he will make a great superhero character.

Now all the corny one-liners will actually fit. I don't mean that as a negative either.

It's probably because The Rock is actually a pretty good actor and, he's avoided garbage like 'Thunder In Paradise'

(Yeah, I saw that movie and watched the series. Dont judge me)
Difference between Hulk Hogan and The Rock in Hollywood
NYG27 : 7/22/2014 5:06 pm : link
Hogan in his prime took ANY offers he could get and had a ton of crappy movies. While The Rock was smart enough to select, pick and choose his roles carefully and build up the type of brand he wanted to be as an action star.
Wow, a Thunder in Paradise callback.
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/22/2014 5:17 pm : link
My goodness. I guess we found the one guy who watched that show.
Huge

Hogan mark but he is/was an awful actor. His natural charisma that makes him so interested as a wrestler doesn't carry over to his acting.

Totally agree Dan, I think Terry is amazing in his "Hulk Hogan" character. Unfortuately for him, that's the only role he can pull off and he was that same way in all his movies which in the end wears very thin on not only on his wrestling fans but also the general public.
he'd be a great Adam
RasputinPrime : 7/22/2014 6:00 pm : link
or a great cyborg. Either way I hope the movies they make for DC characters start to improve. Outside of Batman they have been wretched and now we are screwed there with Batfleck.
He's going to play Hercules.
Randy in CT : 7/23/2014 10:22 am : link
He did a great acting job with Wahlberg in Pain and Gain.

Yeah I agree, he was good in Pain and Gain
I'd rather see him play the John Stewart Green Lantern
GiantJake : 7/23/2014 11:11 am : link
Green Lantern is way more critical to Justice League and a DC universe than Shazam.

Agreed.
Does seem a bit odd...
Italianju : 7/23/2014 11:58 am : link
that they have cast aquaman and possibly shazam, but have yet to cast Green Lantern and Flash who i would say are bigger parts then both aquaman (close i guess) and shazam. I know they continue to say that right now the TV and Movie universes are separate, but by not casting the flash im hoping they are still leaving the option open. Of course they could always cast a different version of the flash then Barry Allen.
