If the injury is more serious and McClain is forced to miss time, it appears as if Mark Herzlich will be the one taking his place until Jon Beason, or McClain himself, returns. When McClain was removed, Herzlich slid into the middle between Jacquian Williams and Devon Kennard.
When Beason initially was injured during organized team activities, it was Kennard who slid into the middle. Theoretically, New York could elect to go with Kennard in the middle and play Spencer Paysinger and Williams at SAM and WILL.
Seems to imply Kennard is running with the 1s in place of Paysinger at the confusingly-misnamed linebacker position.
Maybe Kennard is an exceptional athlete (who slid under the draft pundits' radar) but in every other way imaginable - maturity, intelligence, study habits, character, Kennard is Shockey's polar opposite, apparently.
also provide a guy like Dan Fox an opportunity too. Give him some time. Hopefully Herz is better this year. I'm not so sure we can get anything else out of him though?!
I was saying that even on the first day of camp a superior athlete will stand out and be noticed even by non-expert eyes like mine. My point was that IF Kennard was given a starting spot on Day One, he MIGHT be an outstanding athlete. And IF Kennard is an outstanding athlete you could tell on Day One.
Shockey stood out on Day One. If Kennard throws ice cubes into the stands, then he'll be like Shockey.

But hey if you impress you get the job
