The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is announcing a voluntary recall of all Buckyballs and Buckycubes. The recall of these high-powered magnetic sets is announced as part of the settlement of an administrative case filed by CPSC in July 2012, which sought a mandatory recall of Buckyballs and Buckycubes. The settlement calls for Craig Zucker, of Brooklyn, N.Y. to fund a Recall Trust. |
I have six unopened sets of these things that I bought when they were having a fire sale at five bucks a throw. I keep a set in my desk to fool around with when I'm bored.
You can buy similar products online right now. I'm still not sure what was so bad about these that they needed recalling. I was smart enough not to put them in my mouth or give them to my daughter. I guess not everyone has that basic level of common sense.
