Not great, but whatever. Rest the kid till he's ready.
He's officially a Giant now!!
Sammo284 : 7/23/2014 12:52 pm : link
Fitting in seamlessly.
waiting
Eric from BBI : Admin : 7/23/2014 12:52 pm : link
for the "it doesn't matter that he misses camp" posts.
He'll miss a ton of valuable practice time
ZogZerg : 7/23/2014 12:53 pm : link
That sucks.
kid plays his whole life

Healthy. Come to giants with big expectations and squashed due to the injury bug. Hello Ike Hilliard 2.0
have fun on Osi's exercise bike

Sucks to miss time...

stretch?!?!?!?! They should have mandatory Yoga before each practice!
I never say

Stuff like this but this was a bad pick. OL was the move here. Not this bull shit.

Well I think it was Connor who did say

yesterday that Beckham reminded him of Hakeem Nicks.
Looking at bright side
jjgmrg901 : 7/23/2014 1:03 pm : link
This gives more reps to Jernigan and some of the other rookies.

Tweaking his hamstring makes Beckham a bad pick? I don't follow you.

We should see him
endwerc : 7/23/2014 1:05 pm : link
around Week 12.
Don't the Giants have to take part of the responsibility for this?
Marty in Albany : 7/23/2014 1:07 pm : link
They knew about it during the OTAs.
Jernigan Time
armstead98 : 7/23/2014 1:07 pm : link
Just yesterday I said that I expect JJ to start the season getting more reps than Beckham. This solidifies it.

I know they don't always play the same position but I bet we see Randle, Cruz and JJ as our top 3 when the season starts.
ugh
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 7/23/2014 1:07 pm : link
we need him to be an impact rookie.
Paging Mr. Randle
Emil : 7/23/2014 1:09 pm : link
Mr. Reuben Randle...

This does suck, but it is also an opportunity for Jernigan, Manningham, and Randle. Just be happy we have 5 preseason games this year...strange to say that.

The only thing that heals a hammy is rest, strengthening, and more rest. If it is just a "tweak" I hope they shut him down for the rest of the week at least. If you don't let this heal it will reappear at the worst time.
I have a bad feeling that this will always be the story with this guy
mac attack : 7/23/2014 1:11 pm : link
Not that I hated the pick, but I disagreed with it and I have just had this feeling that Beckham will be one of those constantly injured players (and always on the stationary bike).
Its the first day of camp.
BLUATHRT : 7/23/2014 1:13 pm : link
And people are already going to who's going to replace his production (which we have no idea about anyways) with other guys on the roster? Holy Shit...

I've seen this story before.

And what did you base that off of? Just a gut feeling? He wasn't injury prone in college.
lets just write off his rookie season as a lost year now

I wrote an article las year about problems caused by a deficiency od copper in one's diet ... at one point with all the copper piping ... people got all the copper they needed accidentally through water leaching small amounts of copper ... The EPA back some 20 years ago put a rule in effect that required lowering the copper levels at the tap through the addition of some chemicals like zinc and phosphorous ... so this accidental source of a needed mineral was now gone ...
A major problem with copper deficiency is connective tissue disorders ... most of the work here was done on animals where copper is routinely added as a mineral into their diets to prevent that ... One never sees a cow with a torn acl or the like :-) ...

I wonder if this rash of connective tissue injuries versus 20 years ago is due to that ... I don't think anyone ever gets a blood test to see if copper levels are normal or deficient as historically it's never been a problem and no one has ever seen a need for it ...
Athletes who put more stress on these tissues might be more prone towards these ligament weaknesses causing problems there or by extension to the muscular skeletal areas ...
I'm waiting to hear Beckham say: I could play if the game was tomorrow
Marty in Albany : 7/23/2014 1:16 pm : link
Yeah, right.
Guy has been healthy his whole
Mark from Jersey : 7/23/2014 1:16 pm : link
career...bad luck
This team spends every single summer basically
Jimmy Googs : 7/23/2014 1:16 pm : link
limping its way through camp and preseason.

You can almost see the ESPN screen shot now for Game 1 that lists 15 injured players for the Giants, and 3 for Detroit.

jeez
RicFlair : 7/23/2014 1:17 pm : link
the sky is really falling in here huh.
I know this isn't uncommon in the NFL
Greg from LI : 7/23/2014 1:18 pm : link
But I don't think it's the norm for this to happen every.....single.....goddamned year. Once in a while, you'd think the Giants would have some injury luck. Teams DO have good luck with injuries sometimes, you know?
The offense is allegedly simpler, so while this sucks, maybe it won't
Riggies : 7/23/2014 1:18 pm : link
automatically make him a non-contributor until week 15 (if lucky) like it would have under Gilbride.

He'll fall behind, but no where near as much... maybe?
This is going to severely hamper his expecatations
bradshaw44 : 7/23/2014 1:18 pm : link
for the beginning of the season at the very least.
I'm not worried this will always be the story...
Milton : 7/23/2014 1:20 pm : link
...but I'm worried it could derail his rookie season if they don't get a handle on it. He had a month to rest it and then right away he tweaks it again. Not a good sign that this will be easily treatable.
Well that sucks
nyjuggernaut : 7/23/2014 1:21 pm : link
Hammy injuries can linger for a while too. Hope this isn't an ongoing issue all season.

Regardless, I still wish the Giants would've taken Zach Martin. More of a need then, and even moreso now with Snee retiring.

normally I agree, but not with what has been going on with injuries for what seems like a decade here.
I consider it a curse
WideRight : 7/23/2014 1:40 pm : link
for the SB runs.

No other way to explain it.

We just heard he tweaked a hammy....
BLUATHRT : 7/23/2014 1:42 pm : link
it's not an acl. Perspective... Beason's injury could have been a disaster, looks like he's on target to play by the season opener. Guys who could have been questionable to even participate in camp, namely our LT, a possible 3rd or 4th wideout in Manningham and possibly the starting RG are all participating in camp, even if limited. It seems to me the injury situation might be starting out more favorable than originally thought.
How Is It
Bernie : 7/23/2014 1:44 pm : link
that this is an annual occurrence for the Giants? I just don't get how world class athletes become so fragile the minute they become professionals. And all of this while they are playing 2 hand touch.

I'll panic
NYBEN : 7/23/2014 1:45 pm : link
if he shoot himself in a nightclub not for a tweaked hammy
Beckham will be fine

QBs throwing to WR/TE/RB... Beckham doesn't run routes. Just walks from one side to the other. #Giants #BBI
Not great news
jLefty : 7/23/2014 1:57 pm : link
Being a pessimist this "just a tweak" is a worry. When I heard about Nicks' foot, I worried.Sure this is nothing - but.
How anyone can look at this roster and think, even for a second
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/23/2014 1:59 pm : link
that WR wasn't a tremendous need in the draft is beyond my comprehension. You would literally have had to not watch the team play last season or in 2012.
