FYI.
Andre Williams Flashing with New York Giants - ( New Window )
Really

excited to see him play this pre-season. Can see him becoming a fan favourite quickly.
Hadn't thought of

Andre the Giant...Simple, yet accurate.
Nice article,

CH. Well-done.

My only question was why Andre Williams - as a 2-year old - was in the road? Weird.
yup, could be stacked at RB this year
ZogZerg : 7/23/2014 8:51 pm : link
...
Good stuff.
SoDev : 7/23/2014 9:28 pm : link
Can't wait to see him play.
Huh?
Pete in VA : 7/23/2014 9:30 pm : link
He was struck by a car at the age of 2, but his mom was reluctant to let him play football at some later age, because contact sports were not for him (because he had been hit by a car at 2?), even though his younger brother was playing flag football.Huh?
The idea of Jennings, Wilson and Dre Williams is exciting.
arcarsenal : 7/23/2014 9:32 pm : link
I loved the Jennings signing and I'm still one of the biggest Wilson supporters here.. the early reports on AW are encouraging. What sucks is it's hard to envision all 3 guys staying healthy all year because it's football and that's just how it goes but it certainly feels like we are going into the year in better shape at RB than we did last year.
If Wilson and Williams play up to the potential they showed
BlueLou : 7/23/2014 9:47 pm : link
in college, one wonders what will be Jennings' role.

Those two, in their best years in college, combined for over four thousand yards from scrimmage and 28 TDs.
At RB the Giants have gone from ? to loaded
BillT : 7/23/2014 9:51 pm : link
Ok, that's a bit overstated but RB could be as good a unit talent-wise as any on the team. And Cox has gotten some notices as well. Now, if they can get OBJ going things could get interesting.
Can't wait for those preseason
Doomster : 7/23/2014 9:54 pm : link
games to start and see what these guys can actually do against some real competition...
Seems like we could have a good group at RB
Bill in UT : 7/23/2014 10:19 pm : link
Now, if the OL can just open some holes for them
Loaded is correct
Earl the goat : 7/23/2014 11:51 pm : link
Wilson could be a great 3 rd down back out of the backfield if he learns pass protection and keeps Eli upright

Can also return punts and KO
It's good that Williams is learning to catch the ball,
Ira : 7/24/2014 4:00 am : link
but the most important issue for him is pass blocking.
..
SamTheTram : 7/24/2014 7:12 am : link
between him and kennard, the fact that mid round picks are flashing so early is refreshing
I like this guy.
Victor in CT : 7/24/2014 7:53 am : link
Hard nosed and a can do attitude. I can't wait to see him play.
kill the man with the ball - awesome
mfsd : 7/24/2014 8:42 am : link
we used to play a version of that as kids. probably not as aggressively as Williams did, but it was a blast
Why did Williams
mrvax : 7/24/2014 10:32 am : link
make it to the 4th round if he had more yards than any college back last season? Seems weird. I'd expect a 2nd round slot for a guy who did that, at worst.

Running Backs are getting taken later and later in the draft because the shelf life for a running back is gettting smaller and smaller...Teams are not using premium picks on running backs anymore...

If this was 10 or 15 years ago he would of probably been a 2nd round pick maybe 1st...
we shall see...
GMAN4LIFE : 7/24/2014 10:36 am : link
i hate getting high on these guys and then we see them in preseason and its Clint Sintim 2.0

but nice to see positives coming out of one of the rookies

Martin & Wilson were taken round 1 in 2012. I know the RB is slightly de-valued but round 4???
3 RB's were selected round 2 of the 2014 draft.
His limitations as a pass-catcher probably caused him to fall a bit.
Klaatu : 7/24/2014 10:53 am : link
Although he displayed pretty good athleticism at the Combine, he looked awful in the receiving drills. That, plus the fact that he had no receptions as a Senior (and was replaced by a Freshman on obvious passing 3rd downs) certainly didn't help his cause.
the backfield will only be as good as the line in front of them.
plato : 7/24/2014 11:45 am : link
that's the problem and I don see it resolved this year at all. so maybe some exacting runs, but I doubt we will see a machine like ground attack
New starting Center, new starting Guards, higher quality depth.
Klaatu : 7/24/2014 12:11 pm : link
Pugh with a year under his belt, bigger, stronger. Beatty apparently healthy, practicing. What's not to like?

I think the poster is using the term "premium" as in Top 10 as opposed to much later.

Are the days of taking a stud runner in the Top 5 of the draft over?

That is a good question. Though to be fair, it's not as if the next Adrian Peterson has been available the last few years to test this out.

Trent Richardson was taken #3 and thought to be a "safe pick."

Oops.
Emmitt Smith was
OldPolack : 7/25/2014 8:25 am : link
only 5'9" and 210, I think Reese has a winner here.
With a great blocking tight end and a fast paced attack "' Andre de Giant" and Eli will be a handful.
In long yardage situations having Wilson as a change of pace running/receiving back is awesome.
It's going to be a much better offense than last year.
Also another Great Giant running back
OldPolack : 7/25/2014 8:38 am : link
Joe Morris was only 5'7'' and was from the same conference.
Does hillIs make this team?
mattlawson : 7/25/2014 8:45 am : link
We have 5 RBs, 2 FBs and 5 TEs to sort through. Yes - a good problem to have
i am excited to see him play, too
Essex : 7/25/2014 8:47 am : link
but keeping my expectations in check. After all, they haven't even put the pads on yet.
Early so far but plenty of comments
Jimmy Googs : 7/25/2014 8:54 am : link
from the press about Giant rookie draft picks stepping up at practices, particularly Kennard, Richburg and Williams. Obviously most of the news on Beckham has been about his injury.

Anything at all on Jay Bromley?
We'll see when the pads come on.
Klaatu : 7/25/2014 9:09 am : link
The only thing we've heard about the DTs is that Jenkins and Patterson have been starting.
As for Williams...
Klaatu : 7/25/2014 9:10 am : link
I certainly didn't like hearing that he dropped a screen pass yesterday.
