NFT: Saw Queen last night

natefit : 7/24/2014 8:33 am
at Izod. Took my 19 yr old daughter - our first concert together. Great show. Brian May is still effin amazing. Lambert is of course no Freddie but was solid and is about as good a replacement youll find. Played 2 1/2 hrs, stage effects were cool, nice tribute to FM etc.
Having seen them in 76 at The Beacon with Think Lizzy opening, this wasnt quite that but still a terrific night.
I love Think Lizzy

Would love to seen Queen

I think Brian May is one of the greatest guitar players ever, and had such a unique sound that really melded well with FM's obviously amazing voice.

I thought the Paul Rodgers tour was pretty good, but some of those high notes... ehh...

They should do the Journey thing and find some random dude with an amazing voice that sounds just like Freddie. There has to be a few floating around?

I was really pleasantly surprised how good Lambert was. He's got a very confident stage persona as well.
As an aside tho, what is it with 20 somethings having to record every friggin minute of the entire night with their phones? God forbid you just kick back and dig the music.
I'd be very interested to hear

Agree it was a great show and Brian (67) and Roger (66) are still amazing! Their energy and passion puts many younger acts to shame. Great show!

There are a number of web-sites like www.adamlambertlive.org that are doing live streaming of the shows and then posting the video links. They also do a cool separate concert poster for each show. Check out the site!
Wow.

I saw them at the Garden back in '78. Incredible show. Around the same time I saw Thin Lizzy with Rush and Graham Parker and the Rumor. Those were the days.

That is a great set-list.

I was never much of a Freddie Mercury fan. But Brian May's guitar work was always excellent.....he is so much better live than what gets captured in Studio.
Saw them in '82 at the Garden

Not sure if anyone has seen Queen Extravaganza, but listen to Marc Martel...about as close to Freddie as I've ever heard.
Marc Martel - Somebody to Love audition - ( New Window )
Saw them at MSG

last week and it was really good. As a kid of the 90's, my Queen knowledge wasn't on par with the 40/50/60 year olds at the garden, however, the May set was awesome.

but Brian May is an interesting guy. Went back to school and got a Phd in Astronomy. I thought he was working as an astronomer but I guess he's playing music or maybe doing both.
Most of the show
