why not dump a guy like Abreu? Id like to say Chris Young, but im guessing we arent going to eat that money just yet. Nobody thinks Kirk is going to be a great player, but id rather keep him up then Abreu.

I would rather dump Chris Young too. I think Abreu is still a nice luxury PH to have off the bench.
so Flores will probably start tonight, assuming Tejada is sore...then ride the bench.
excellent.
Yep. Exactly. Flores is going to start one game and then ride the bench. Time to cool him off I guess. Couldn't have him down in AAA making Collins look bad.

Kirk has been hitless in 5 games since the all-star break and has been striking out in 50% of his at bats. He's not getting anything good to hit, and he hasn't adjusted.

In the last ten games, Kirk went 3/18 for a ba of .136. 10 of his 15 outs were strikeouts. They sent the right guy to AAA.

Yeah. Kirk came out of the all-star break cold. MDD on the other hand is absolutely on fire in AAA and seems to be walking more and striking out less. They are similar players and the same age but MDD seems to be improving. I'd have brought up MDD with Flores, cut Young and sent Kirk down. Tejada would ride the bench so hard he'd have splinters sticking out of his ass.
RE: Asked how long Flores would be sticking around,
Terry Collins said "had Ruben not gotten hit in the head, we wouldn't even be talking about this."
You know Collins doesn't like not getting his way. He's borderline thrown a tantrum a few times this year. He was over ruled a couple times already regarding Mejia, Lagares, and the bullpen. I think he was even asked to play Flores the first time he was brought up at least initially. He's very defensive when asked about moves he doesn't agree with. I almost think he wants to play Tejada to prove a point with Sandy or something.

I hadn't heard this till now. But after reading that I seriously want Flores to go 20-20, all HRs. I didn't think I could dislike TC more, but mannnnnn.
He seems like a great kid doing anything and everything the team asks and never saying a peep. He's a victim to Collins bravado and bullshit. Must suck for your manager to say something like that when your all excited about getting another opportunity.
Flores has outstanding work ethic and busted his ass in the offseason and was completely dedicated. All we hear is Tejada continually shows up to spring training out of shape and acts like a lazy slob.
His ceiling is a 2 win player in a year where everything goes right. He's a glorified utility infielder. We don't know what Flores' ceiling is. Play Flores, it's not like this team is a playoff contender who can't afford to risk Flores blowing up.
Flores is 24-years-old and had been hitting .323 with 13 home runs in 55 games for Las Vegas, during which he also had a 22-game hitting streak.
Nevertheless, while Mets manager Terry Collins said he expects Flores to stay with the big-league team, he intends to use him as a platoon middle infielder, splitting time with Tejada and occasionally filling in for Daniel Murphy at second base.
Were playing pretty good, Collins said, whos team has won 11 of their last 17 games. Im trying to keep things from being disrupted as much as I can, because I like the way things are going right now. Im trying not to disrupt that.

Jon Heyman says the Rockies likely view the #Mets as the best fit if they decide to move a star player. It's a big if. Very big if.
IF he's out 7 games, Flores will bat 8th OR 9th and get 2-4 starts
IF Flores is day to day, Flores will get a spot start until Tejada is 100%, and again.. bat 8th or 9th.
He will be set up to fail. And Collins will smile.
excellent.

I think thats what he needs to do every night to stay in the lineup.

The Mets are playing at a sub 500 clip. I hope you get fired, Collins.
I'm not even upset with the not playing Flores thing here, although that's ridiculous..
it's how he's content with his lineup. it's how he thinks upgrading your #8 hitter will NEGATIVELY affect your team.
it defines stupidty
Chew on that.
Truly unbridled hate.
What's the point in starting that offensive black hole when Flores has been raking at AAA? IT MAKES NO SENSE.

That's pretty interesting if true.
