New York Giants Release Unofficial Depth Chart - ( New Window )
unofficial that may be
WeatherMan : 7/24/2014 1:47 pm : link
but Robinson dead last of 5 at TE is not an expected sight.
Schwartz still at LG
cosmicj : 7/24/2014 1:49 pm : link
Richburg at C only (not RG), Brewer at LT. Eric Herman now a C (really??).

Kiwi looks to be the started at DE opposite JPP. Hankins not a starter. We have no SAM.

And my favorite name is: Kyle "the Diabetic" Sebetic.

Only thing that really jumped out at me. Dead last..

Connor Hughes ‏@Connor_J_Hughes 5m
"unofficial" starting TE, Larry Donnell, is first TE out in 2-min drill. Beatty LT, Mosley LG. That's 3-straight days for Beatty #Giants
We certainly do have a SAM.
Klaatu : 7/24/2014 1:50 pm : link
His name is Devon Kennard.
Has Kennard been that impressive already?
cosmicj : 7/24/2014 1:52 pm : link
He'd better be a lights out rookie 5th rounder or we have a bit of an issue there.
Robinson was indeed the surprise

McClain moves to an OLB with Paysinger.
Dude, have you been paying attention?
Klaatu : 7/24/2014 1:55 pm : link
The coaches have been raving about Kennard, and since this thread is about the newly-released "unofficial" depth chart, please note that he's listed as the #1 SAM.
OL
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/24/2014 1:56 pm : link
Beatty-Schwartz-Walton-Mosley-Pugh

is more or less about what was expected months ago. Nothing stunning there.
Sounds like a classic

"we're not happy with your level of effort" message for Robinson.
No, Klaatu,
cosmicj : 7/24/2014 1:59 pm : link
I always take pre-exhibition game raves with more than a grain of salt. Good to hear he's been very impressive, though.
I still think the DTs are all screwed up.
Klaatu : 7/24/2014 1:59 pm : link
But that's just me.
Why is Rolle...
Tark10 : 7/24/2014 2:02 pm : link
Listed as a strong safety??

SamTheTram : 7/24/2014 2:03 pm : link
Robinson jumps out. Also Hermann as the last center instead of guard

Because he's better at that than Stevie. Stevie is a center-fielder, not a tackler.

I'd hope it's Williams and not Paysinger. I think Williams has the higher ceiling.
.
arcarsenal : 7/24/2014 2:25 pm : link
Also, since I'm fuckin' anal about this stuff.. it's Jon Beason. Not John.
Hyno ahead of Connor!
Giants Fan in Steelers Land : 7/24/2014 2:27 pm : link
But I'd love for him and Connor to make the team and Peyton Hillis to be cut
Very unofficial
Jupiter : 7/24/2014 2:28 pm : link
Hard to believe anything except the #1 slot.
Probably right that Williams has more upside
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/24/2014 2:28 pm : link
but Paysinger is the guy the coaches have been holding up as the model citizen since last year. I think he'd actually have to lose his job this camp.
Richburg only as back-up C
gersh : 7/24/2014 2:35 pm : link
Because every guy only listed once
Hyno - Connor is probably as close to a toss up as any
Robinson as 5th really is a kick in the ass to him - I'm sure on purpose

Please note the Giants depth chart was missing Julian Talley and Ross Weaver...

I crazy or doesn't Cullen Jenkins usually line up at RDT?
Connor's tweet indicates Mosley opened the day at LG

If correct, that would be fairly major news, by the low standards of Camp Day 3. Or did he mean RG?
Adrien Robinson should be our #1

Never mind the tweet about Mosley at LG.
Big Blue Blogger : 7/24/2014 3:03 pm : link
I checked Twitter. Connor corrected it. Mosley was at RG. Jerry was next up in that spot. Schwartz is still the LG with the 1s.

No, you're not crazy. He was primarily RDT here. He played on the left side in Philly.

along with Robinson, Herman at C depth is also surprising to me. Don't remember if he did play the position at Ohio or not.

I truly believe Herman's name was just thrown down at the C position for the hell of it. Throughout the first three days of camp, I've never seen him take a rep.
If Adrien Robinsion needs to be prodded to get his ass in gear
Bill in UT : 7/24/2014 3:48 pm : link
at this point in his "career", F him.
Connor
cosmicj : 7/24/2014 3:51 pm : link
Do you have any comment on why Robinson would be last on the TE depth chart? Is it meaningful?
It may be "un-official" but I don't see
Jimmy Googs : 7/24/2014 4:02 pm : link
Eli, Cruz, JPP and Rolle last on depth chart for their respective positions.

5th on the depth chart for a team that arguably has the worst group of Tight Ends in the league...what an enviable spot.
except
Eric from BBI : Admin : 7/24/2014 4:10 pm : link
Adrien Robinson has been getting first-team reps.
Eric - maybe they are trying to build up the
Jimmy Googs : 7/24/2014 4:44 pm : link
confidence of the first team linebackers too.
As stated many times
OlyWAJintsFan : 7/24/2014 4:45 pm : link
it is surprising that Robinson is listed 5th amongst TE but everything Reese has said as well as practice reps seems to indicate otherwise. Too soon to make anything much out of it.
.
arcarsenal : 7/24/2014 4:57 pm : link
The whole.. "unofficial" part seems to be escaping many.
depth chart at this point is meaningless
oipolloi : 7/24/2014 5:04 pm : link
if Justin Pugh goes down for the season, does anyone here really believe that Troy Kropog would be his replacement?
Devon Kennard as 1st string SAM is interesting and I hope
BlueLou : 7/24/2014 5:24 pm : link
will prove prophetic. I think he's really gonna push for a starting role. I also think Robinson listed last at TE is a motivational tool. But man I hope he responds. Dan Fox listed as a 2nd stringer is a surprise.
It's probably just a way
PEEJ : 7/24/2014 5:32 pm : link
to organize practice
There is no clear cut #1 TE
BigBlueDownTheShore : 7/24/2014 5:42 pm : link
Right now. For all intensive purposes they could have just put all the names in a row. From what we have all read they have rotated everyone in and out of the 1s.
Unofficial or not
Bill in UT : 7/24/2014 5:59 pm : link
you'd hope everything is done for a reason
That's not a depth chart
BillT : 7/24/2014 6:02 pm : link
Except for the starters it's basically a list of who's playing where. For example they have McBride as the backup to DRC and he's not even really practicing yet. And every TE on the roster has played with the 1s. Nothing to see here.

And the reason could have been merely to generate more media coverage early in camp.
interesting
Big_Pete : 7/24/2014 6:53 pm : link
I realise it is early days, but there are a few surprises

I can understand Adrien Robinson being down the depth chart, what I find surprising is that Xavier Grimble is ahead of both Robinson and Kellen Davis.

The other surprises include being Brewer listed as the third string LT and not 2nd string LG and Eric Herman being listed at center and not either of the guard spots.

The DT competition is going to be very tight.
My initial reaction after seeing that?
Upstate_Giants_fan : 7/24/2014 7:16 pm : link
We better wrap our starting OL in Bubble Wrap :(
Scary.
Reese's Pieces : 7/24/2014 9:10 pm : link
Giant have replaced all their winning veterans who were "done" with a roster full of players who haven't gotten started yet.

But that's just me, and I'm always pessimistic.
I think they are just trying to put everyone's name on the list
oipolloi : 7/25/2014 10:25 am : link
Dallas Reynolds is obviously NOT the backup to Schwartz at LG.

But they want every player to have a place on the depth chart.
it is a mess
