Maybe if the GPS says the players are trying too hard during game time we can delay the game, share some oranges, give some interviews and keep everybody healthy and happy.
Day 3 of camp had to be cut short to 1 hour for players who have yet to wear pads and hit yet.
Awesome
Can't wait for the NFL to show up like last year around Mid-October as we watch preseason mayhem during the month of Sept b/c these players don't practice enough.

Practice...but I think they should have conditioning program
month berore tranning camp...running..ect..
more guys get hurt 1st week...cauze their legs arent
in running shape...less weights..more flex training
Days of brutal camps are gone and yet we see more and more players injured. Could it be you can't have it both ways? Could it be that these guys need to be beaten into FOOTBALL shape? I don't know for sure but we are getting an uglier brand of football played with more mistakes and penalties as well as having more and more guys come up lame day in and day out.
Couple that with the NFL turning a blind eye to rampant steroid use and I believe that is why we see so many soft tissue injuries these days.
Hey, if it reduces injuries(especially pulls)I am all for it...

Yes, maybe injuries are the result of players not practicing as hard or training as much as they did back in the day. But it's hard to believe that somehow all the advances in training techniques escaped the notice of the richest, most powerful, most competitive sports league in the Western Hemisphere.
More likely the reduced practice schedule and injuries come from the same underlying trend: Much bigger men flying around the field much faster. Collisions are more injurious, bones and connective tissues aren't strong enough to handle the extra load. And that's entirely aside from brain injury.
Everybody thinks today's players are pussies, while men were men back in the old days. The no-facemask guys thought so about the 80s guys. The leather-helmet guys thought so about the no-facemask guys. And the flying-wedge guys thought so about the leather-helmet guys. The "mob football" guys thought so about the flying-wedge guys. I am sure that if you go back far enough, some old timer shook his head and scoffed "Rules!? I do not recognize the game anymore. Today's players are like little girls. In my day, it wasn't real football if everyone could walk after the game."
But I think it's got to have at least something to do with the way a lot of these guys are built now. A lot of them are like science experiments. Muscle LOADED onto frames and just all kinds of strain that I don't think some of these ligaments are able to handle, and so.. pop.
I just can't ever recall the amount of non-contact injuries that I've seen happen in recent years. Maybe that's because the twitter age makes us aware of every single one but I still just don't remember it being this way when I was younger.
When my kid was playing football there was one kid who was head and shoulders above the rest. Faster, stronger, leaner, he was just much better. I swear the kid almost had zero body fat. But he was constantly pulling hammy's and getting hurt.
RE: The NFL has lighted up on the training camp brutality of years ago

Bingo - show of hands of those who played the game at any level. What was practice for? Practice was repetition and repetition created better execution. As the execution became automatic the game became faster and better with fewer mistakes
These guys have few practices, few repetitions and poor execution. They're not even in hitting shape. We all see mistakes all over the field.
September is now what preseason was a generation ago. Carl Banks is right in that you have to build up to hitting condition to prevent injury. Not hitting and then going right into full contact is a recipe for disaster. Give me Ray Perkins putting on the pads day one anytime
and won the National Championship. The head coach credited the refined use of the system as the reason for having few injuries and better conditioned players. Its good to see that the GMen are taking advantage of this cutting edge technology.
It was administered by an ex Seal and the results were dramatic. Almost no lost time.
. I can't take too seriously the poster talking about when he played. This pro game, this overbuilt tightly muscled hi football IQ means we're looking at two different games to judge the modern game by a H.S. Or college experience is inappropriate. I swear when I played we had two a days and no water breaks....wanted to toughen you up.
Already said, FSU used this last year and rolled to a national title. They did this without ANY major soft tissue injuries during the season (they did lose at least one player in the preseason camp, however)
So you "old school" tough guys can criticize it all you want, and even though one FSU season is a small sample size, it was a pretty damn impressive result.

That was just the Giants, not the entire NFL.
Plenty of time to evaluate 90 players, implement a new offense, simplify the defense and all get on the same page.
Pop Warner practices more and has better timing.

(And it doesn't have anything to do with a new HC, they did it last year too)

Yes the Giants need practice time, but the new CBA kinda screwed that up so it doesn't hurt to try something new.
I'm glad giants are working to mitigate injuries

GPS as we all know tracks movement and compiles data like MPH, total miles, etc.
Then there's GPS which stands for a type of stretching (Postural Stretching whatchacallit).
The article references the standard GPS as we know it tracking movement on each player--not stretching.
I think we'd be foolish not to try it.
the lack of adequate practice time is really a separate issue that needs to addressed at the bargaining table.
Good for us.
Ditto.
