"But this one thing will stick with me when I think back on my day with the Giants: Tom Coughlin was really in a good mood during my 15 minutes with him. I dont think Coughlins in a good mood if he feels like theres a black cloud over East Rutherford."

The last Giants running back to have 300 carries in a season was Tiki Barber in 2006 with 327.
Tom Coughlin told McAdoo when he took the job that he wanted a powerful, dominant running game. When the Giants have had that, theyve played football in January.
Except for 2011 when they were ranked 29th in rushing and won the Super Bowl. But, heck, why let the facts get in the way of a good cliche
IIRC, Green Bay was either last or second to last in rushing the year before and won the SB
National media guy flys/drives into town, gets cursory information, and flies/drives out.
I don't think he meant that they only played in January if they had a good running game and stayed home if they didn't. I think he simply implied that when they did have a good running game, they almost always made the playoffs.
Frankly, they just flat out miss the playoffs these days, regardless of what is going on in the run game (the only exception being a season where they had a putrid rushing attack, in 2011). King was just grabbing at a time old narrative, like he always does, regardless of actual accuracy.
No sweet tidbits on North Jersey High School softball either.
Oh, and how about this "bold" prediction:
Ben McAdoo is going to fix Eli Manning, and Manning will be a top-12 quarterback by Thanksgiving.
Wow, TOP 12?!? Peter really going out on the limb on that one...
They made the playoffs though that year, so I guess King's point is totally worthwhile and offers great insight... even though that year was now 7 seasons ago.
Seriously. If he can't break that hurdle, we're in big big trouble.
He does tend to be a little too much in love with both the Patriots and Ravens for my taste, but nevertheless he typically calls the Giants for what they are.
Quote:
Right tackle Justin Pugh, who has been here for 15 months and is the second-longest tenured lineman with the Giants
No, since Brewer's been a Giant since 2011 and Mosley since 2012.
