Quotes from the article:
"There's also the relationship between Giants general manager Jerry Reese and Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome to consider. They're extremely close and Newsome had the benefit of getting a candid assessment from Reese.
"Just being irresponsible," Hill told The Baltimore Sun when asked about his history of problems with drugs. "Yeah, I feel like I've learned. I'm ready to play football. They talked to the Giants and they had nothing but good words to say about me."
“I know a lot in that I’m obviously familiar with the coaches on the New York Giants,” said secondary coach Steve Spagnuolo, a former Giants defensive coordinator. “I’ve talked with those guys in the past, even before Will Hill was available, and I remember them just having glowing remarks about him as a football player. When he walks through the door, he looks like a linebacker and yet he moves around like a safety. He fit right in there."

Would've been nice if you had "learned" while with the team that took a chance on you and supported you through all your other "learning opportunities".
I wish Hill the best but all he had to do was play by the established rules.
As a football player, he screwed our team over.
All these players that continue to take advantage of their talent in the wrong way should be banned from the league for two years. Make them go out and work for the food on the table and that may teach them a little respect in the opportunity they have in the NFL.
All this kid is going to do is find a new dealer not hard in Baltimore and a new crib to rent and destroy.
All the talent in the world but not a brain cell to be found!
I agree the Giants did him a solid but why? All it does is enable the player to continue on his path.
And this whole 'will come back to haunt us'…. Eh. If he intercepts Eli in the Super Bowl and returns it for a TD with no time left on the clock, that would be bitterly ironic. Otherwise, his future performance isn't going to mean a thing to me. As to the upcoming season, if a Safety who can only play roughly half the season is the make or break guy, you were probably already pretty broken to begin with. So I'm not worried the key to everything slipped through the Giants fingers.
For a bunch of greasy football fans, there are a lot of romantics on here.
Look up and down the Ravens roster over the past 14 months, it reads like a Most Wanted report.
If anything, he's completely unreliable so anything he adds is gravy and should be unexpected. He has proven two things in his short time in the NFL:
1. He's extremely talented
2. He's extremely unreliable
Sure, but the point of insurance is that it's there when you need it. A guy who may very well find himself in trouble and facing suspension again doesn't make for the best insurance policy. And I'm not really questioning their signing him - he's a talented guy and if he gets his act together, could be very valuable for them. But he's a guy they're taking a chance on, and while that may be a very worthwhile chance to take, he's not really a reliable insurance policy.
