NFT: Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees

GatorNation : 7/26/2014 1:40 pm
Capuano makes Yankee debut. Off to a shaky start....hopefully he settles down. Not expecting much from him but Cash has made some good moves lately so we'll see.

i dont care if they don't think refsnyder is the answer right now.
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:25 pm : link
Roberts certainly isn't. So either A) Call up Refsnyder and suffer with growing pains or get B) get a fucking second baseman that can field.
good job
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:26 pm : link
thornton. It isn't your fault you have a shit bag second baseman.
could really be 5 or 6-2
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:26 pm : link
but we were so close to getting out of that with nothing.
Run would still have scored
section125 : 7/26/2014 3:26 pm : link
because runners run at their own peril...but I don't understand why it wasn't infield fly rule. Girardi did not argue so I guess it was not.
Well, McCann didn't help on that play either.
yatqb : 7/26/2014 3:27 pm : link
Both of them converging on the ball at once. But we should have gotten the out there.
Oh yeah and Roberts
section125 : 7/26/2014 3:27 pm : link
sucks for not handling a little league play there.
Fuckin moron fuckin McCan and roberts
CruzShip52 : 7/26/2014 3:28 pm : link
Stupidity can cost us a win
McCann absolutely got in his way.
Pego61 : 7/26/2014 3:29 pm : link
Not to say that absolves Roberts. Hell, Thornton was in his way too.

Do we really need 13 pitchers on the roster this week when we don't have one real first baseman?

An INFIELD FLY is a fair fly ball (not including a line drive nor an attempted bunt) which can be caught by an infielder with ordinary effort, when first and second, or first, second and third bases are occupied, before two are out.

I think the problem is the phrase "caught by an infielder with ordinary effort"... it was a diving attempt at best... perhaps, if infield was in.
so far offense is to blame too
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:30 pm : link
how do u only have 2 runs off a crap pitcher like hutchinson?

Agreed, Rasmus did rob Gardner of a 2 run double.. they just suck at getting the big hit to widen a lead.

You go up 4 or 5-0, and it's a lot easier for a pitcher to hold the lead.

Roberts should have caught it with out a dive. I think McCann got in his way and he shied off. Since Girardi didn't argue he must have agreed.
Two non called errors and only one run given up. They got lucky.
I guess ump didn't think it was an easy enough catch
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:38 pm : link
Seemed to me like he had enough time to field the bouncing ball and throw home for the force, anyway. Melky isn't that fast.
Won 7 of 8
Vout-O-Reenie : 7/26/2014 3:38 pm : link
Tough to complain, but it's still annoying when they can only manage to scratch out 5 hits against a POS pitcher.
need to score
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 3:39 pm : link
their scrub lineup cannot be the lineup that breaks their 17 game losing streak at Yankees stadium.
bronx cheer for McCann

I agree. Amazing how Oakland released Johnson because he was in effective and still own him millions and yet we still are holding on to Roberts. Boston released Prycinski. I'm still shocked we let Soriano go. ( agreed with the move)
best Thornton appearance for us
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 3:45 pm : link
to date.

Now score some GD runs
I got a weird feeling Cervelli's hitting this one out
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:55 pm : link
might just be gas, but maybe I'm right.
alright we'll take the walk
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:58 pm : link
how about that bases clearing triple now, Brett?
Maybe just some gas Pete
EmpireWF : 7/26/2014 3:58 pm : link
:)
If nothing, they
section125 : 7/26/2014 3:59 pm : link
got out of the bottom of the order with that walk.
Lose Gardner now
CruzShip52 : 7/26/2014 4:00 pm : link
Can't lead off bottom of the 9th
Wish cervelli made an out there

outside
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 4:02 pm : link
both the first pitch and that pitch were outside.
Ball 5
section125 : 7/26/2014 4:02 pm : link
oh wait....
Fucking ump
CruzShip52 : 7/26/2014 4:03 pm : link
Man this Sucks!!!!!
A little too close to take
dpinzow : 7/26/2014 4:03 pm : link
But Gardner might have gotten umped there
Gardner with another Sado
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 4:03 pm : link

That's a fucking strike
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 4:08 pm : link

RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 4:09 pm : link

game over
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 4:17 pm : link
nice job by the pen.
Over
CruzShip52 : 7/26/2014 4:17 pm : link
Thanks McCan and roberts

Gooood night
and that'll do it
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 4:18 pm : link
might have been a whole different inning, if Bautista is called out like he should have been.
It had to end
section125 : 7/26/2014 4:18 pm : link
sometime. That losing streak had to end sooner or later.
Dan Johnson: Hall of Famer against the Yanks
dpinzow : 7/26/2014 4:18 pm : link
scrub against the rest of the league
Roberts really has to go
Kyle in NY : 7/26/2014 4:19 pm : link
.
That replay shows McCann
section125 : 7/26/2014 4:24 pm : link
knocked Roberts off the ball on the little looper.
and that's why the damn walk to Bautista hurts
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 4:26 pm : link
dammit.
Not dead yet
BlueHurricane : 7/26/2014 4:27 pm : link
Nice stroke Carlos
Why
MookGiants : 7/26/2014 6:06 pm : link
did Girardi not use Betances in the 9th? You have to keep that game 3-2
Dan Johnson

Andujar with his 9th HR...
Dunedin81 : 7/26/2014 8:02 pm : link
back to back games with a HR.
Seager was pulled from a game...
Dunedin81 : 7/26/2014 9:45 pm : link
as was Sox prospect Herrera. Some speculation this could be part of a Lester deal. If they get Seager for a couple months of Lester, even with some ancillary prospects, that's pretty crazy.
Daniel Nava apparently pulled too
Dunedin81 : 7/26/2014 9:53 pm : link
...
Wtf?
BigBlueShock : 7/26/2014 9:53 pm : link
What the hell is going on with the Dodgers and Red Sox? This is getting ridiculous, if this is true. Absolutely ridiculous.

Robert Murray ‏@RobertMurrayMLB 2m

One #HugWatch down, one to go. RT @PeteAbe: For those curious, Jonathan Herrera leaving AAA game was not trade related. Minor injury related
It's a jump to conclusions mat!
Dunedin81 : 7/26/2014 10:02 pm : link
Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 1m

Dodgers prospect Corey Seager had a stomach virus yesterday and tried to play through it today. Safe to say he has not been traded.
Phew!
BigBlueShock : 7/26/2014 10:05 pm : link
I just don't trust the Dodgers
Yanks had their IFA guys
Phil in LA : 7/26/2014 10:10 pm : link
in states today to look at Castillo.
The Rays are only 3.5 out of that 2nd WC...
Dunedin81 : 7/27/2014 8:46 am : link
they're not likely to trade price in the next couple days.
