NFT: Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees

GatorNation : 7/26/2014 1:40 pm
Capuano makes Yankee debut. Off to a shaky start....hopefully he settles down. Not expecting much from him but Cash has made some good moves lately so we'll see.
Solid 3

Innings
I just read this morning
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 1:54 pm : link
that the yankees could have dealt cano last season to texas for prospects. It makes me mad that the Yankees chose not to do that. I am betting they probably could of had Odor as part of that deal.
Jeter is 2-2 today (only 2 hits so far for the Yanks)
dpinzow : 7/26/2014 2:00 pm : link
3416 hits, 3 behind Yaz for 7th all time
The
GatorNation : 7/26/2014 2:03 pm : link
Fact they didn't trade Cano last year is criminal. I said the same thing back then. They weren't going anywhere last year and knew Cano was going to demand and likely get more than they were willing to pay and still let him walk for nothing. Brilliant.
I agree Gator
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 2:06 pm : link
I was beating the trade Cano drum last year when it was said that he was asking for a 10 year 300 million contract. The Yankees really dropped the ball on it. There is no way they should have allowed Cano to walk away for just a draft choice.
wow
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 2:09 pm : link
what a catch by Ellsbury!
amazing catch by Ellsbury
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 2:09 pm : link
our OF defense is pretty awesome. If our IF defense was half as good, we'd be damn good defensively.
Maybe the Yankees had all the intentions to keep Cano
kmed : 7/26/2014 2:12 pm : link
until he got an insane offer from Seattle? It's not like they just let him walk, they offered him a 7 year deal worth like $25 million per. Clearly they wanted to keep him.
would be nice if
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 2:12 pm : link
this team would figure out how to score runs. This offense is very irksome.
do we have to watch the guy dying from emphysema every fkn Yankee game
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 2:14 pm : link
I'm having a nice relaxing Saturday, and we get that ad again.
This version of the Yankees
Bake54 : 7/26/2014 2:14 pm : link
is pretty interesting. The young guys and traded players are making a difference. Not like the star studded Yankees of the past.
HR McCann
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 2:17 pm : link
2-0 Yanks!
finally!
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 2:17 pm : link
McCann with a 2 run shot
Headley
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 2:18 pm : link
a bunt single! I love it! I wish more Yankees would do that when they shift.
Headley bunts for a hit against the shift
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 2:18 pm : link
I've never seen a Yankee do that successfully since they started this BS shift.
Probably the best swing McCann's had as a Yankee
dpinzow : 7/26/2014 2:18 pm : link
and then Headley bunts against the shift and gets an easy single
oh yeah
Bake54 : 7/26/2014 2:18 pm : link
I have a man crush on Headley already
We might like
section125 : 7/26/2014 2:19 pm : link
Headley....
Roberts looks shitty at the plate again
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 2:21 pm : link
Refsnyder time, Cash?
Rasmus robs Gardner
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 2:23 pm : link
of a 2 run extra base hit there, would have been 4-0, and hell, Gardy may have scored on that.
Think Capuano has tired
section125 : 7/26/2014 2:37 pm : link
a bit and lost some control..
can't complain with Capuano
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:03 pm : link
6 IP, 2 R is about as much as I could hope for from him.
solid 6 innings by Capuano
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 3:03 pm : link
too bad the offense his mistaken the person they are facing for someone with better than average stuff.
Capuano gave everything he had today
dpinzow : 7/26/2014 3:03 pm : link
6 IP, 2 R is a very good start for him...now the bats have to wake up
ok where can I get
Bake54 : 7/26/2014 3:04 pm : link
a Headley jersey...lol.
so the benches are warned
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 3:08 pm : link
Hutchinson hits Cervelli, and he isn't tossed why?

fucking retarded.
The HBP was not intentional.
section125 : 7/26/2014 3:12 pm : link
That is why the warning to the benches is just stupid. It has no meaning.

I think Gardner needs a day off or two. His BA has been dropping the last couple weeks. Unfortunately they have no one to play outfield since Beltran's elbow is hurt.
so umpires have the ability to read minds now?
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 3:15 pm : link
It's just another pathetic example of umpires forgetting their place. Let the teams bean the crap out of each other if they want. They are who we pay to see resolve the in-game conflict not these svelt potatoes in black.
Great job by Kelley.
section125 : 7/26/2014 3:16 pm : link
.
good thing we got Kelley in there
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 3:17 pm : link
jesus.
add first baseman
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:17 pm : link
to the list of things the yankees should get.
lol
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 3:18 pm : link
------>why you don't play McCann at 1B<------------
all mccann had to
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:18 pm : link
do was tag the bag. that is amazing to me that a major league player can make a little league mistake.
uggh
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:19 pm : link
thornton is in. i can't stand him.
Oh this is a brilliant move -
section125 : 7/26/2014 3:20 pm : link
bring in Thorton.....
he should have either thrown the ball to 3rd or 2nd for that matter
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:21 pm : link
or said screw it, and gone back to the bag for the out. Doing neither leads to what happened. I don't agree with Thornton here. I'd rather stay with Kelley because I think he's more likely to get me more two more K's.
Lindgren
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:22 pm : link
can't get up to the majors soon enough.
oh come on!
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:23 pm : link
this defense at second is fucking atrocious!
get this POS Roberts out of here
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:23 pm : link
All you have to do there is field it and throw home for the force.
That is infield fly
section125 : 7/26/2014 3:23 pm : link
What the hell?
Roberts, are you kidding me?
dpinzow : 7/26/2014 3:23 pm : link
That ball should be caught
Not sure why the infield fly rule wasn't called there
Wuphat : 7/26/2014 3:24 pm : link
...
Roberts is brutal
deadkurtrulz : 7/26/2014 3:24 pm : link
I make that play first year in Babe Ruth ball
i dont care if they don't think refsnyder is the answer right now.
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:25 pm : link
Roberts certainly isn't. So either A) Call up Refsnyder and suffer with growing pains or get B) get a fucking second baseman that can field.
good job
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:26 pm : link
thornton. It isn't your fault you have a shit bag second baseman.
could really be 5 or 6-2
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:26 pm : link
but we were so close to getting out of that with nothing.
Run would still have scored
section125 : 7/26/2014 3:26 pm : link
because runners run at their own peril...but I don't understand why it wasn't infield fly rule. Girardi did not argue so I guess it was not.
Well, McCann didn't help on that play either.
yatqb : 7/26/2014 3:27 pm : link
Both of them converging on the ball at once. But we should have gotten the out there.
Oh yeah and Roberts
section125 : 7/26/2014 3:27 pm : link
sucks for not handling a little league play there.
Fuckin moron fuckin McCan and roberts
CruzShip52 : 7/26/2014 3:28 pm : link
Stupidity can cost us a win
McCann absolutely got in his way.
Pego61 : 7/26/2014 3:29 pm : link
Not to say that absolves Roberts. Hell, Thornton was in his way too.

Do we really need 13 pitchers on the roster this week when we don't have one real first baseman?

An INFIELD FLY is a fair fly ball (not including a line drive nor an attempted bunt) which can be caught by an infielder with ordinary effort, when first and second, or first, second and third bases are occupied, before two are out.

I think the problem is the phrase "caught by an infielder with ordinary effort"... it was a diving attempt at best... perhaps, if infield was in.
so far offense is to blame too
sinctybldh : 7/26/2014 3:30 pm : link
how do u only have 2 runs off a crap pitcher like hutchinson?

Agreed, Rasmus did rob Gardner of a 2 run double.. they just suck at getting the big hit to widen a lead.

You go up 4 or 5-0, and it's a lot easier for a pitcher to hold the lead.

Roberts should have caught it with out a dive. I think McCann got in his way and he shied off. Since Girardi didn't argue he must have agreed.
Two non called errors and only one run given up. They got lucky.
I guess ump didn't think it was an easy enough catch
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:38 pm : link
Seemed to me like he had enough time to field the bouncing ball and throw home for the force, anyway. Melky isn't that fast.
Won 7 of 8
Vout-O-Reenie : 7/26/2014 3:38 pm : link
Tough to complain, but it's still annoying when they can only manage to scratch out 5 hits against a POS pitcher.
need to score
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 3:39 pm : link
their scrub lineup cannot be the lineup that breaks their 17 game losing streak at Yankees stadium.

I agree. Amazing how Oakland released Johnson because he was in effective and still own him millions and yet we still are holding on to Roberts. Boston released Prycinski. I'm still shocked we let Soriano go. ( agreed with the move)
best Thornton appearance for us
RasputinPrime : 7/26/2014 3:45 pm : link
to date.

Now score some GD runs
I got a weird feeling Cervelli's hitting this one out
PetesHereNow : 7/26/2014 3:55 pm : link
might just be gas, but maybe I'm right.
alright we'll take the walk

Lose Gardner now

might have been a whole different inning, if Bautista is called out like he should have been.
It had to end

sometime. That losing streak had to end sooner or later.
