Advice for first game at MetLife

chiefgiant40 : 7/26/2014 8:12 pm
Just bought tickets to the Texans game. I haven't been to the new stadium, last time I've seen the giants at home was back in 2002 when I took my father. I'll be driving from New England and any advice about the drive, parking, and stadium is appreciated.
As your attorney, I advise you to drink heavily.

If you're tailgating, get to the stadium about 5 hours before. Even 5.5 to ensure you're in five hours before. Good times tailgating. I leave my tailgating spot one hour before, but since this is your first time, leave about 1.5 hours before. I recommend section k to park. It's close to the exit for after the game, and it's worth the walk to the stadium from there. Cars parked closer are often going to the exit much slower than walking and you'll walk pass them quickly. When you get in the stadium, which usually takes about 15 minutes from the time you get there if you arrive about 1.5 hours before game time, I'd walk around the exterior of the stadium, which is after you pass the ticket scanner. They usually have a band playing in one area, a Weber sponsored tailgate area, and a few other attractions. the walk around will take you about 30 minutes if you want to soak in some of it. check out the legacy club before the game. It closes shortly after the start, if not just before. It's worth checking out. That's a fancy name for the Giants museum. Lombardi trophies are there. Save the Giants flagship store for after the game. Have a great time.

Some things change season to season. The above have been regular items and staples of game day for newbies and regulars. Also, make sure you know about the new bag policy. It's on the NFL website and Giants website. They also have a captain Morgan's bar close to the legacy club. It's pretty nice, but it's a pre-game, one drink thing. You can pass it and know immediately whether you want to go in. Some people are drawn to it and some are not. Legacy club will take you about 10 to 20 minutes inside. Good stuff in there but nothing that takes too long. How long can you look at eli's bust? Hopefully they have more stuff this year.

And it's hard to contain my excitement. Driving up from Maryland to take my 9 year old sons to their first ever Giants game, the same game vs the Texans. I'm very pumped..I grew up in a house where I didn't have a father around, and being that my home is a Giants home, I am so happy and proud to go with my boys.
K is a really good lot.

It's right near the practice facility. Beware of the people under the K2 sign. Just sayin'.
