LOL- so that is what happened- the zionists stormed palestine and took it by force and now get to keep it. Please inform historians of this.

no one said this.

Really then explain this:

"the current "winners" of that ongoing war, if you will, are the Israelis. they were not "required" to hand Gaza back"

How exactly did the Israelis win the great battle that reformed Israel?

I am not saying that today's situation doesn't bear blame on Hamas but if your grand parents/parents were kicked out of their homes and became refugees that nobody would except I can imagine that your generation would still be pretty bitter.

I suppose the zionist movement produced much more effective terrorists.

Know what its like? It's like a kid gets bullied everyday in the school yard. Everyday. Then one day he hides a bat in his pants and when as usual, the bullies line up to rob him of his money and bus pass, he lets them get close enough so he could take out the bat and take their bus pass instead. Then when they ask for it back he says "fuck off, I wouldn't have your bus pass now if you didn't take my stuff everyday".

Who in their right logical mind would feel badly for the bully and his friends? WHo would blame the kid who triumphed for refusing to kneel down and hand back what was taken due to the bully's aggression?

No one stole anything. They responded to a threat and aggression as usual, they beat so much ass that now they are blamed for beating too much of it.

Geez. Do you really think attacks like this are warranted or add anything to the site or discussion? I know, she asked for it because yada, yada, yada.

I guess that means that you don't know how you can get the Palestinians away from Hamas influence. So you have to rant and rave. I know, you're right because you know everything and anyone who disagrees with anything you think or say is a mouth breathing moron.

Must be nice to breath all that rarefied air up there. While the rest of us have to deal with reality.

You can blame Jordan and Egypt and other Arab states for starting the war. Perhaps they should take in the Palestinians.

Let's get this one straight. Israel is culpable because (a) it won't accept a Palestinian government that includes a terrorist organization sworn to the Jewish state's destruction; (b) it won't help that organization out of its financial jam; and (c) it won't ease a quasi-blockade—jointly imposed with Egypt—on a territory whose central economic activity appears to be building rocket factories and pouring imported concrete into terrorist tunnels.

This is either bald moral idiocy or thinly veiled bigotry. It mistakes effect for cause, treats self-respect as arrogance and self-defense as aggression, and makes demands of the Jewish state that would be dismissed out of hand anywhere else. To argue the Palestinian side, in this war, is to make the case for barbarism. It is to erase, in the name of humanitarianism, the moral distinctions from which the concept of humanity arises.

I agree, that the Arab states could have done more for the refugees (how do you remain refugees for multiple generations?). It doesn't help their cause if the refuge problem goes away, they feel that the creation of Israel was an unlawful act forced upon them and while it really doesn't matter to me personally I can see their point. Some of the Zionists were brutal terrorists in their own right and now those who have benefited partly from their terror face and bemoan the same.

As far as I am concerned the creation of Israel was a mistake. I am not very religious but I think some old book kind of warned us. I can't help but wonder if we would be better off today if Israel was never formed or if we just gave them Rhode Island instead.

But what's done is done I suppose and I feel that Israel has every right to defend itself.

the creation of Israel was a mistake and we should look to a religious text for guidance on a 21st century military conflict.

brilliant analysis.

that having fled or been kicked out of their homes sat nursing their grievances for four generations in refugee camps, despite being repeatedly beaten in war? Whether they liked the outcome or not pretty much every similarly situated population eventually accepted the outcome of that war and tried to make a better life somewhere else. The right of return will happen only if Israel ceases to exist."

So true .... so true!!! Well-said!!!

I agree with this statement 1000% !!!

"the heart of the issue is this: there have been wars for this land for thousands of years. the current "winners" of that ongoing war, if you will, are the Israelis. they were not "required" to hand Gaza back to the "Palestinians" any more than they're required to allow the "Palestinians" to live in the West Bank. Israel ALLOWS them to do so out of the kindness of its collective heart. that land was fought for - and won - by Israel. international law on this issue is an absolute joke and is a product of anti-Semitism. Israel could not possibly care less what the U.N. has to say about this area of the world."

I couldn't have said this any better !!! I would add ... that Israel should not ... and cannot ... go back to pre-1967 borders - that would be suicidal (falling on your own sword).

Gaza, the Palestinians and even Hamas have no real power. This won't get solved in Gaza, Ramallah, or the UN. This can only get resolved in Tehran and Riyadh.
