Kathy Bates and Evan Peters will play Ethel and Jimmy Darling, while Oscar nominee Angela Bassett will play the role of Desiree Dupree alongside Michael Chiklis as Dell Toledo (Bates’ husband and Bassett’s ex-husband), Emma Roberts as Maggie, Sarah Paulson in the dual role of conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler, and Jessica Lange as Elsa Mars. Meanwhile, one of the big villains of the season will be played by character actor John Carroll Lynch, perhaps best known as possible serial killer Arthur Leigh Allen in David Fincher’s critically-acclaimed film Zodiac. The role of All My Children alum Finn Wittrock has yet to be confirmed, nor is there anything on the table for Neil Patrick Harris, who still really, really wants to be on the show. But we’re keeping our fingers crossed anyway.
All in all, this is possibly the best cast the show has assembled for a season so far, as Bassett and Chiklis alone are worth the price of admission |
Season 2 was an outlier. Season 1 was very tight and focused, and Season 3 (coven) stayed pretty true to witches and sorcery. At times it can be sloppy in terms of spreading the story too thin, but I think they achieve something special given the niche material.
Can't wait for this season.
