Big Blue Breakdown: Remembering Giant’ Legend Chris Snee - ( New Window )
Some nice anecdotes there.

Snee was a class act. "Legend" might be a bit much - I'd save that label for Lawrence Taylor, and maybe a couple of other guys; but Snee will be fondly remembered. He earned those two rings.
I would consider him a legend

He was the best guard in Giants history and probably the third best offensive lineman behind Hein and Rosey. Could have been a Hall of Famer with a few more years, should have made the pro bowl in 05-07, then he would have been a 7-time pro bowler.
Elisha10: If you give him credit for Pro Bowl seasons in 2005-2007...

...you're kind of mixing apples and oranges, unless you discount his last few trips to Hawaii. He wasn't that good after 2008, or maybe 2009.

Was he the team's best guard ever? Probably. I'm not sure that makes him a legend. Are Amani Toomer and Tiki Barber legends? Best long-serving Giants at their respective positions, sure. "Legend" just seems a bit over-the-top, and inappropriate for a guy like Snee who went about his business with such quiet professionalism.

Semantics aside, he was an outstanding Giant, and a key part of two championship teams.
Very good player

and I wish him well. I'm thankful he decided to pack it in before taking snaps at training camp. Olinemen are usually not given much fanfare but Snee was very good for several years.

Not that quiet professionalism disqualifies a player...

...from "legendary" status. But with Snee, his quiet professionalism might be the thing that stands out most.
One of, if not, the best OGs

this franchise has ever had
If you truly love football, then you have to love Chris Snee...

to me he is what football is all about...part of a team or a unit that works hard together and puts the team first always.

Snee and the other guys on that line were one and the same...hard workers all and Snee was the highest draft pick of all. Seubert was an UDFA, Diehl a 5th round pick, O'Hara also a UDFA with Cleveland and Kareem was a 3rd round pick. Lunchpail guys indeed.

For five years, that line played almost every game together and that just does not happen anymore. They were great and maybe would have played a couple more years had it not been for the horrific injuries suffered by Richie and Shaun at the end of 2010.

We will look back on this group in years to come and wish our current line was like them. I think Pugh is a clone of these guys but I can't say that about Beatty and I don't know Schwartz or Walton or Richburg or Mosely enough to comment on them. In terms of being a legend, I would say this, when you consider the history of the Giants and that Snee is regarded as maybe our best guard ever...that, to me, is a legend.

I also think Snee is HOF material in five years.

Sincerely hope you're right about HOF in 5 for Snee.
MikeN: I agree with everything you wrote above...

...except the part about the Hall of Fame. I think Hutchinson makes it first (rightly or wrongly), and I doubt Snee makes it at all. Ring of Honor? Definitely. Hall of Fame? Don't see it.

On the other hand, I bet he does the induction speech for his father-in-law, which he'll probably enjoy more anyway.
Well, until he got hurt, as TC said, was there a better
MikeN in Ottawa : 7/28/2014 10:27 am : link
guard in the NFL than Chris Snee. I strongly suggest he was better than Hutchinson or at least his equal.
i love snee

and at his peak he was a top 5 guard, but he was not the same all round beat like hutchinson.

Can you name one who might be better?
Snee - HOF ?

Definitely good enough ... probably not good enough for long enough ...
