One pairing a of veterans; the other pairing is of a 2d year player and basically, because of injury, a 1st year player.
If we're going to rotate the DL, why wouldn't we pair a vet with a young player instead of 2 vets? We paired Jenkins and Joseph last year and it worked very well.
Wonder if these pairings are just for Training Camp and pre-season games to give Jenkins and Patterson as much rest as possible plus give the young players as many reps as possible.
The guy you would probably want to pair with an experienced DT is Jay Bromley. That's a subject for November. If Bromley sees meaningful action before that, it will mean injuries have hit the D-Line pretty hard.
DT: Jenkins, Patterson, Hankins, Kuhn, Bromley.
DE: JPP, Moore, Kiwi, Ayers.
The line could be very good, especially if Moore continues to develop.
Quarles is on the outside looking in, but could easily get a place on the PS.
Neither is a NT. Hankins starts w Kuhn as the backup at NT to Hankins. Paterson is a 3 or a 5 tech Jenkins is also so why would they play together. My guess is they want to see how versitile the guys can be. Bromley isn't in the discussion this year unless injuries occur.
Nothing against him and I hope he kicks ass and makes the team.
