with the risk involved. He's no sure thing and is still going to cost a lot. If we had a 130 million dollar payroll it wouldn't be a big deal but you don't want to waste the last 20 million or so available on a complete unknown. If it were my money, Id sign him, but I do get the logic.
Tejada has had a pretty shitty game defensively. Nothing crazy but a lot of weak dives and balls that he probably should have gotten to. Half ass attempt at a ball over the 2nd base bag early. Belly flopped on a ball and threw it way wide of first. Looks pretty slow tonight.
Collins said last night after bringing deGrom ount for an extra inning Â
but he checked out fine. If he's really hurt DL him. He can't hit righties right now. The truth is I really don't know. Wright's been pretty bad all year... long before the shoulder issue. He's had a few spurts where it looked like he was going to come out of it but.... I really just don't know.
and I keep thinking he's about to come out of it but this has not been 20 million a year production, sorry it hasn't. He's underperforming this year plain and simple.
well, I guess you closed the book on this season Â
There's a lot of bad players on this team. DW isnt one of them. He hasnt been great, but he's not bad. So sorry he's not up to your expectations. ..so far...this season.
door. I want him to come out of it as much as anyone. Read the fucking thread. Im basically begging for him to get a hit. I don't know what his deal is this year. I really don't.
yes, he's underperforming...that we can agree on Â
What kind of question is that though? If Granderson was getting paid twice what he is making now I wouldn't be that happy with his production either. Honestly batting .270 with 8 home runs, barely OPSing .700 is bad for a 3rd baseman period. He's 8th out of 10 hitters in the NL at third and getting paid top dollar. Im not bashing the guy. I love him. I just want him to at least be 70% of the player he once was. Its frustrating.
is this just an off year or the start of a decline?? His numbers seem to be regressing over the last couple seasons and the nagging shoulder injuries and back injuries might be taking a toll.
On the other hand he's always been real fucking streaky so hopefully its the latter and he's about to heat up.
If we traded the whole farm for Tulo(who's almost the same age) and he came here and next year and hit .270 with 12 home runs AND we were paying him 20 million per would you not be pissed? Take the Wright blinders off for a minute. I love the guy too but he's not doing his part.
Pretty happy with this team right now and don't want to ruin a good night picking on David. Hopefully he comes out of it against his boy Hamels tomorrow who he's historically owned.
The year you are referring to was 2011. He still hit 14 home runs that year in only 389 at bats. While you are right that that year is by far the closest to being his worst year other than this year he still OPSed .770 that year with only a .250 batting average. He's OPSing 740 right now, the lowest of his career.
he was godawful defensively and couldn't throw to first but he's already surpassed the at bats at this point in the season and their WARs aren't that far off. From a hitting standpoint he was better that year even with a broken back.
Listen, Im going to get of Wright now. He's had a very disappointing year. No other way around it.
At this point, it might make sense to bat d'Arnaud fifth Â
• I headed down to Aberdeen on Wednesday to try to see the Brooklyn Cyclones and the New York Mets' first-round pick, Michael Conforto, but the game was interrupted after one inning by a two-hour rain delay and I saw just one at-bat of each hitter I was hoping to catch. Conforto was caught looking on a dubious strike call on a changeup away; in BP, he loaded his hands high and deep but got the bat head into the zone quickly, rotated his hips extremely well for pull power, and let the ball travel well. He's too old and experienced for the New York-Penn League and should be promoted out of there, ideally to high-A St. Lucie, within the next week or two. Meanwhile, Brooklyn starter Casey Meisner was awful, throwing 87-91 mph with an above-average curveball but no command or deception.
I'd sign for Duda with average LF defense to be honest with you! Another Duda in this lineup (who wasn't Duda bad in LF) would be a really nice addition.
would rank 3rd in baseball amongst LF in terms of wRC+ (143 behind Seth Smith and Michael Brantley) and 4th in wOBA behind Smith, Brantley and Melky (PS jeez LF is weak around the game right now).
implied BK for the majority of the season is the plan. I guess that can change but the Mets don't seem to care about external critique (Law thought Cecchini going to BK last year was a strange call for example). I think the whole thing is overblown to be honest. Conforto will almost certainly begin next season in St. Lucie either way so if it's an extra 20-30 games because they weren't "aggressive" this year who really cares?

Rather go heavy for him then over pay for anything that's available in FA next year while also forfeiting 1st rd pick .
Id be interested in Josh Harrison from Pirates , wonder what it would take to get Oscar from St. Louis

thor
he was warming in 8th maybe couldn't get loose?

If DW was making $10 million this year with the same stats...he'd be having a better year in your eyes?
On the other hand he's always been real fucking streaky so hopefully its the latter and he's about to heat up.
No, the broken back year was his worst. He's already been more productive through July this season than that year.

Why do people declare busts this early? lol
