NFT: ??? about Toyota dealer warranty charges

sphinx : 7/28/2014 5:29 pm
Friend has a Toyota truck that is out of warranty in years but is still within 36,000 mile limit. A/C went and the dealer says the problem is a hole in the evaporator ... repair cost $1,600. Friend bitched, dealer went to Toyota and they agreed to cover $1,250. Friend still pissed and thinks the dealer, who can charge whatever he likes for a repair, is charging over the factory set in-warranty price for the repair.

Anyone know if there's anywhere online to get the price the factory will pay the dealer for in-warranty repairs?

Probably not available

but your friend can go directly to toyota through the BBB.
The BBB is a waste of time

If it is past the warranty yet they worked to get Toyota to voluntarily pick up $1250 of the $1600 simply for good will I would be grateful and not be a pain in the rear. It is my experience that having a good relationship with the service manager/department can and will save you a lot of future expense and headaches over the life of the automobile and possibility future automobiles.
I agree with Steve

The vehicle is out of warranty and Toyota/the dealership are eating over three quarters of the repair cost? That sounds like good customer service to me.
Agree

It doesn't matter that the mileage is low. Warranties are X years OR Y miles. He's out of warranty and they're giving him a good deal. He should STFU before they tell him "OK then -- it's $1600."
He's upset about a $350

out of warranty AC repair? Just go somewhere else then. I agree with the others. This sounds like very good customer service.
Your friend is greedy

He is out of warranty. It is years or miles, whichever comes first. Toyota is not only not obligated to cover a single penny it is almost unheard of that they would. He got well more than he thinks he deserves.
So this "friend" is out of warranty and the dealer
