Shelly Sterling -- and the Los Angeles Clippers -- scored a clean sweep over Donald Sterling on Monday when a California judge issued a preliminary ruling that paves the way for the $2 billion sale of the team.
Sterling will surely appeal. He's vowed to keep fighting.
It's in the family's interest to stretch this out until DS crocks. They lose hundreds of millions in estate tax if the team goes through while DS is still kicking.
the Fox Sports legal analyst made it sound like this is pretty open and shut. That it would take about 3 weeks for the sale to go through and while he can try to go to higher courts the appeals wont be able to stop the sale unless a judge reverses this ruling, which he doesnt see any chance that happens. They wont be able to stop the sale pending legal stuff they will have to get a judge to reverse it before it goes through apparently because this was a non-appealable ruling or something like that

Unless they get a stay pending the appeal, once the sale closes, Sterling's appeal will be moot (that is, the law is that you can't unscramble the egg through the court process). Sterling may be able to sue his wife, but he can't get the team back.
but the tax implications and the millions this is potentially going to cost his beneficiaries is pretty absurd. Maybe Stern can pony up some of that money.
