Beckham Update: Tests On Injured Hammy Comes Back Negative

AD-Blaze : 7/28/2014 9:33 pm
Per Jordan Raanan's Twitter. That's some pretty good news on that situation. Hopefully he'll be back on the field sooner than later.
Awesome!

Hard to know what that means

Negative for what?

We pretty much knew he didn't have a serious hamstring issue.

But he has one...and he could make it worse if he comes back too soon.
I remember Beckham commenting when camp opened that he was not

100%. Giants were stupid to let him out there. Just let it heal. There is that element with Coughlin like your dogging it with a hammy. That is called for when you have Plaxico Burress, a known dog, doing it. With all others it should be innocent until proven guilty. Just let them alone. Coughlin, is still doing it, even now. Just pointless.
Eric,

Negative on something more serious. Must not have been healing at the rate they would have expected so they probably sent him for the MRI for precautionary reasons. Still a positive that it did come back negative.
what!?

ha ha - perfect.
seriously - I'm not sure how much we'll see of Beckham
Del Shofner : 7/28/2014 10:56 pm : link
this preseason. He won't be IR'd, but he may be stashed for a while.

the Giants didn't think it was serious or they wouldn't have had him fielding punts and kickoffs (even if he wasn't running).

This was just precautionary and I assume to see if it was healing.

But the bigger issue is still there. Hammies are tricky and they are very susceptible to re-injury.

We saw that with Aaron Ross a few years ago. He kept trying to come back too soon and basically didn't play a whole year.
Agree
Little Giants : 7/28/2014 11:33 pm : link
Hammies are tough and they linger but it's the result we obviously wanted to him to come back with today.

Well yes, but I don't think anyone really expected the test to come back with say a significant tear. He's not limping around out there.

I guess what I'm saying is this... we will have no idea when he will be back, and even if he does come back, it could still be a ticking time bomb.

He had this at the mini-camp...fast forward to July when you figure he would be fine...and he aggravates it immediately.
It was possible that it could have come back with a tear
Little Giants : 7/29/2014 12:04 am : link
Happened to me two years ago. Injured my hamstring, came back too early after rehabbing it, injured the hamstring again and find out it was a grade 1/2 tear and I was out for about 6 weeks.

I'm going to see the positive in this and be happy that it came back negative. It's obviously not good that he has a hamstring but today's MRI was a positive result.
I just hope Coughlin

doesn't make Beckham feel the need to get out there ASAP. Let the damn thing heal.
Did they also check for a yeast infection?
BlueLou : 7/29/2014 4:29 am : link
Maybe sand?
Much ado about nothing,
JPinstripes : 7/29/2014 5:44 am : link
Becky will be fine.
the way he runs and cuts they better let it heal completely
gtt350 : 7/29/2014 7:48 am : link
even if it's into the season
So negative means he is as tough as Bambi?
Some Fan : 7/29/2014 8:09 am : link
Maybe he needs to stop listening to mommy about how to run.

Seriously, Lou?

I've come to expect shit like that from some of the other yahoos here. The butthurt is strong with them. I expected better from you, though.
Yes, let it heal but not getting camp reps

Plaxico Burress is a known dog?????? Where did you pick up that pearl of wisdom? He practiced and player every game in 2007 with a set of injuries that would have sent most NFL players to the sidelines. I guess he didn't come back from the gunshot in time for the playoffs in 2008.
If his hammy limits his cutting ability...
M.S. : 7/29/2014 11:53 am : link

...and straight line speed, can't we use him as backup left tackle?

(:-)
Plax didn't practice for most 2007
Some Fan : 7/29/2014 2:25 pm : link
. Many thought it was BS. Also, his mysterious shower injury before the SB that year did not strike me as a true story. I wonder how he hurt his knee.
The detective
Blackbeard : 7/29/2014 2:35 pm : link
is on the case!
Guilty until he can prove his innocence.
Dotino Just said that Beckham had blood in good hamstring.
Canton : 7/29/2014 2:48 pm : link
Until it disipates he won't see the field.
