NFT: Old Forge in October (recommendations?)

RicFlair : 7/29/2014 12:00 pm
so I have a mid-semester break and me and my girlfriend are planning to take a quick getaway to old forge.

I'm planning on staying at the pine knoll, if i can get the cabin i want.

sadly it looks like a lot of restaurants aren't open on mondays up there which is when we will be going.

but anyway, does anyone have an recommendations for a nice dinner, and then maybe an afterwards for drinks?

As a NEPA resident, Old Forge Pizza is vastly overrated.
Dinner in OF area

The Big Moose Inn is pretty pricey but really good. My wife and I think it's the best dinner place in the area.

The Knotty Pine (in Thendara) is also very good, not as expensive as the BMI (but not cheap) and closer to OF.

The North Woods Inn (in Eagle Bay) has good food in both their main dining room and their adjacent tavern which offers a bar food selection.

The Woods Inn (in Inlet) is an interesting place with more modestly priced fare. We were pleased when we ate dinner there a few years ago.

Walt's definitely works for something less pricey.
thanks, man.

We get par baked Revellos, and I understand its not the same, but its ehhhhh to me. We were just at Arcaro and Genell's a few weeks ago, and I thought everything sucked there. Was really, really disappointed with it.
Ever eat at Amadeos in Moosic?

depending when 'winter hours' start, they may be closed mondays.
Not sure Ric,

I'd give them a call. I rent up there for five months every winter, it's by far my favorite place. Old Mill is very good too. Try to climb Bald Mountain, pretty easy climb with a beautiful view of the lakes. Have fun!
