First order of business is to talk sarcastically about much tougher camp was back in the day, and how impossible it is to work on the running game with limited hitting and practice time.
At least this year there's a new OC to discuss, though Mike still insists it's Coughlin's offense.
but Reese basically just admitted Gilbride was pushed out the door. He said it was time for us to make some changes in regards to Gilbride, he said that after saying that Gilbride is one of the smartest coaches he's ever been around

Mook, good catch. It was pretty clear that he was pushed out. If the story held that Gilbride had decided to retire during the season and spend more time with his family (which is the corporate go-to message when someone in management is shown the door), it made no sense for a few days after the season, Coughlin was non-committal on his coordinators/coaches and it took nearly a week for Gilbride to say he was gone. If Gilbride had made up his mind, the Monday after the season they would have announced his retirement. I don't know for sure, but odds are that Coughlin pushed to keep him, but once his hand was forced, Gilbride took the high road and retired rather than get the same fate that Pope got.
Won 2 rings as our offensive coordinator, 1 day even an idiot will realize the guy must have been pretty good to get his offense to play on the level it did against All time great teams, 1 team 18-0, the other team 17-1, not to even mention the 2007 packers who lost 2 regular season games, or the 2007 Cowboys who lost about 3 games. Headed the offense twice against in Super Bowl wins against possibly the greatest defensive mind in the history of the game. But why ruin an idiots rant.
gave up, the OL was tissue-paper thin, signed a TE who couldn't separate from anyone and had atrocious drafts, etc., is still around and talks about Gilbride getting pushed out.
For the 2013 season, the phrase should be: "In Reese we bust".
but I'm good friends with members of the Gilbride family (met him at a wedding and he's gotten us tickets to a few games). My buddy told us early in the season (Sept-Oct?) that he was retiring at seasons end. He may have retired before this season, but working with his son kept him around for a few more seasons, but after being passed up for several HC positions since the '07 run, he had retirement on his mind.
Just a guess, but I'm sure Reese was speaking in generalities, that it was time to change things up.
if there's no apparent solution because a hole at LT with a right-handed QB is deadly
Dottino says that Walton is having a tremendous camp and shows no sign of the ankle injury that sidelined him for a year. Biggest hole right now on offense is TE followed by LT with Beatty still recovering
Beatty has been taking the majority of snaps with the first-team O-Line, with Brown spelling him from time to time, so I don't know what Dottino is talking about...but that wouldn't be the first time for that.
I think it was mutual. Gilbride was considering retirement and once Mara made it clear the offense was broken...
I have no idea who said what first but I'll bet at that time Gilbride had a talk with Coughlin and decided that he should retire rather than actually getting booted.
I have no clue as to why his son was retained but they must think he's doing his job well.

I wonder is Mara walks away thinking "What an asshole."
(I have to admit, it doesn't always seem obvious to me why his son survived the coaching staff turnover as the tight ends coach.)

Probably. It looked like Mara smirked alittle when Mike said that. Fat slob.

What difference, at this point, does it make?
lol
great line by da pope just now.

Yup. Gilbride Jr. being on this staff makes 0.0% sense.

God forbid..
going into the season with Larry Donnell at TE and a hobbled 1st round pick at WR is not really a recipe for immediate success. hope i'm wrong.
Dottino's opening day line
Schwartz-Walton-Richburg-Pugh from LG to RT with LT a huge question. Dottino says Beatty is still physically unprepared to play Week 1
Quote:
He is the best in the world at what he does.
lol
Hey TTH

a) "No question..." -- Francesar
b) "I get that!" -- Jones
With either hand ??

I wouldn't be surprised. Pugh was a LT throughout his college career.
Well Ahm havin da best yea of my car-ear so I guess dats possible..
