I had the same injury he did and required the same surgery. Granted, Wilson is 35 years younger than I am, athletic, required only a single fusion as far as I know, while I required a triple fusion. On the other hand he developed this condition very early in his life. If its a hereditary in his case he could have other vertebrae going bad. I find hit hard to believe that he could have recovered from this kind of surgery in less than a year to the point where he can play professional football. And now after one day back in practice he has a stinger.
The fusion may have healed to the point where he is not in an reasonable danger of paralysis, at least not more than any other football player, but if his spinal column is still contracted, or if the stenosis is developing in other vertebrae he could be a couple of hits away from having permanent nerve damage extending to his arms, hands and fingers.
He could be setting himself up for a poor quality of life going forward. If we may be selfish as fans for a moment we may be getting ourselves an unreliable player with little upside and what is likely to be a short career.
This is a matter between Wilson, his family, the team, and the doctors.
that's it.
With all due respect and I mean this as politely as possible, your opinion here is irrelevant and your experience is meaningless.
And as much as every Giant fan alive would love to see Wilson taking handoffs next Sunday, no one expects him to put his health in jeopardy for it.
Take care of yourself.
Umm ya - like that.
