that is basically not news. I don't think anyone expected him to practice or play this week. Guess we'll see what the next doc says before we really know.
to see how the fusion is holding up Monday by the Doctor who performed the surgery...so ye sit is news and it is what their course of action is going to be after being evaluated yesterday
UPDATE (7/30 - 10 AM ET)
David did undergo the battery of tests last night at Hospital for Special Surgery. He will not practice the remainder of the week, nor will he play in the game on Sunday. He will be examined and evaluated by Dr. Frank Cammisa at HSS on Monday (8/4). Cammisa, chief of spine services at HSS, is the specialist who performed the fusion on David on January 16.

Nah that's not news. When he was going to the HSS we all thought that he was going to see the doctor that did the surgery anyway. The only real news is the fact that his doctor wasn't in yesterday so he's waiting to see him Monday.
...just kidding lol. I sure hope this isn't serious and that he's able to put in a full season. Feels like we've been robbed of seeing truly what he can bring to the table (first by TC for not trusting that he could hold on to the rock, and now by injuries.)
All you do is reserve a roster spot for a guy who's durability is in question. Although it sucks to see him hurt, if he was going to be reinjured, better it happens early in the year so that alternate plans for the position and the roster spot can be made.
I agree .I know he was cleared but maybe he should have been held out the first few weeks .i know camp is not like it used to be but still and the funny thing is he ran into the back of herman and they were in uppers and they were not full go
what would be the point in holding him out another week? They would not have cleared him if he was at risk, or if it was unsafe. They have been extraordinarily conservative through this whole process.
before he gets into a real game. You know he is going to take a few helmets to the back of the neck from other teams. Better he waits another month if he has to.
would have been a good thing. Letting some of the other RB take more reps to better understand where they are at.Giving Wilson some more time to heal. Maybe he should have taken it slower like Peyton did and sat out the year to make sure. I'm know doctor but it did seem he came back really fast from this type of operation
The incident didn't even occur in full contact drills, this is a good thing in terms of DW not getting injured more seriously in potentially detecting an issue is still in play.
They've been very conservative throughout this process.
Hilarious! Tom didn't trust him because he watched him every day and saw he did not have the basic skills of an NFL RB. Wilson is a raw talent. That's enough for college but not the pros. Poor vision, no ball security, can't block. TC is trying to teach him the pro game and can't play him until he learns.
Wilson injured himself again running with his head down into a teammate in a drill. Does anyone seriously believe he will stay healthy in games?
Wilson is fast and seems like a good kid. But I don't expect him to make it out of the preseason . His poor vision does not allow him to anticipate the hits. I hope he does not damage his neck seriously before he decides to pursue a new career.
Base on type of operation he had Wilson was back very fast.He was cleared for day one of training camp.He was not limited. He didn't start out on pup like Beason. How does that transpire into being very conservative ? You can say well he checked-out ok. I understand that but I believe most here get this was a serious operation to come back from for NFL RB. Base on when this operation took place and him being cleared so early on there is just noway I would state they were very conservative with him

Are you forgetting the multiple times he went for visits, and it was noted that he was not yet cleared by doctors? He did not get to participate in OTAs because of it.
Beason's injury happened several months after Wilson. Of course he was placed on PUP.
Do you realize how serious this operation is for not just anyone but a NFL RB ? Base on when the operation took place and him being cleared for day one of training camp, that was fast

Why is there always someone that thinks they know better than trained and licensed medical professionals? It's like clockwork.
Wilson literally did nothing for weeks before they cleared him to even exercise.
then the team should council David to retire. It would be a shame he won't get a real chance to showcase his abilities but the risks are just too catastrophic to contemplate.
Don't like the sound of this -- burner after contact (says head down running into Hermann's back) and such elaborate testing. I agree with Torrag's comment here.

Hammer really. I stated in my first reply I would never say they were very conservative in how they handle Wilson. I never once said I know more than the Doctor. Sometimes it can come down to just using common sense Hammer. I would at least believe you know this was very serious operation. The operation took place in January of this year. He is cleared for first day of camp. So here is the question: With him being cleared so fast would you say they were very conservative?
Never short on guys who are just so sure they could have handled an injury situation better than the licensed professionals or know that a guy should have been more limited at practice.

He was cleared by a spinal cord specialist to play. If the Doc said he was ready to safely play, then the Doc was convinced that the fusion was fully healed, period.
He may very well have been ready two weeks or a month before camp and the Doc held him extra time beyond fully healed, we don't know.
So to answer your question, yes they were conservative enough. We do not even know if the burner happened in the area of the fusion.
The tests they took found the location of the Stinger. (hopefully not related or near the injury) Thus why he's out a week. Now.... he's seeing his specialist, (surgeon) to make sure the impact didn't affect the fusion itself.
If the tests come ball good. The original prognosis for being out a week should stand.

Weren't you the dumbass that posted a thread saying Jermichael Finley signed with the Packers based off a tweet he made, meanwhile it was just him being evaluated by doctors?
I think this is more newsworthy than your shit show.
I just can't see them fooling around with this type of injury
for very long. Spinal injury. They have to be on the safe side if permanent damage could result in losing full function of arms or legs or just about any other part of the body.
whichever you want to call it. He reminds me of a balloon that you blow up and let go and it just goes all over the place with no rhyme or reason until it is out of air.
Spinal stenosis is a pre-existing condition, I get that
seems like Wilson doesn't listen. From his rookie yr coaches told him not to lower and lead with his head into defenders, no use, kept doing it until he busted up his neck last yr. Coughlin made a big issue about him doing the flips and told him to stop... no use kept doing flips anyway after tds.
Hopefully this is minor although a burner messed Tuck up badly one season and ruined Gibril Wilson's beastly rookie yr (actually never played as aggressively after coming back the following season and on... not sure if related though)

Get well Pocket Rocket!!
i'm not saying it's good news but it's not bad. let's just hope we don't hear whispers over the next couple hours of really potential ominous news.
I'm still optimistic.

With the neck injury, not sure you can count on him as much in the base offensive packages.
Usually he's pretty optimistic ....but maybe he's been told more than once not to post anything about injuries.
This is absolutely news. Josh is probably just pissed he didn't post it first and get a sticky...

You could make the argument that he's more at risk to injury on Specials than in the base packages.

+1 LOL

Very wrong.

I'm sure plan B, C, and D are already in play.
