89-92 truly was the dark ages for the Yankee organization. Not only did they suck but they employed some horrible people. The Steinbrenner exile was all but a footnote.

Luis Polonia, the outfielder for the Yankees, was convicted today of having sexual intercourse with an under-age girl, but the judge postponed sentencing until after the baseball season.

The 24-year-old Polonia pleaded no-contest to the misdemeanor charge that he had sex with a 15-year-old girl at a hotel here last Wednesday. Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Thomas Doherty then found him guilty of the charge.

but Polonia messed around with young girls too. I think he got hit with a statutory rape charge?

I remember Curtis publicly bashing Jeter for chatting it up with A-Rod as a Mariners-Yankees brawl was simmering down. The two of them were kind've having a "what the fuck happened here?" conversation. One of the very, very few remotely controversial Jeter moments in his 20 year career (and calling it controversial is disingenuous... it was just a big story because Jeter was/is a boy scout among boy scouts).

Funny to see that article with those pictures and think about the likes of that guy questioning Derek Jeter's integrity.

But A-Rod was a Mariner, not a Yankee, in the story I just referenced. Curtis was upset he was chatting with a player on the other team in that moment.

The Mel Hall story I've told was told to me around 1997 and it happened around 1990. Sad that no one nailed the guy until much later.

He was relentless, and nearly broke #51. That was the main reason the Yankees dumped Hall.

through a random connection a friend of mine is friends with Cone, or at least was back in his playing days...to hear him tell it, that story is all true, and it's definitely not the only time Cone did "that" in public

I have to disagree. The parents are just as disgusting. They are supposed to protect their daughters from guys like Mel Hall but instead they dish her up on a platter. I won't speculate as to their motive but I can't see any good ones.
