His reports were the best. No knock on Connor, who has done a great job, I just don't have the same excitement reading the camp reports like I did with Marty's.
but I have to say Eric has knocked this one out of the park with bringing Connor on board for Camp MetLife - the number of individual pieces on players on top of the camp reports has been stellar.
Marty's reports from up at camp Albany are BBI legendary -- he forged a constant daily BBIer on the scene reporter providing reports to all of us --- I for one kept logging in every evening anticipating/ waiting for his updates.
Now at camp Quest we are blessed to have a equally talented stud reporter providing all of us with first class daily reports/write ups ---- I actually look much more forward to reading Connor's reports then to all of the professional beat writers --- just like I did Marty's. I also appreciate Patty's reports who for years have provided her knowledgeable insight to the BBI family. We miss you Marty and keep up the good work Connor and Patty.
been very lucky over the years to have people like Marty, John F, and Connor write camp reports. I would never say one is better than the other...they've all been stellar.
BTW, I've been slowly rebuilding the old archives. I added a bunch of the old camp reports this past spring.
I was lucky in that camp was in Albany, and I was able to get time off in August, but that wasn't possible this year.
I'd also like to stay a bit longer in the NJ area for camp (I'll be talking to family/friends down there for next year). It's hard traveling 2.5 hours, take notes, then another 2.5 hour tip back plus another 2-3 hours writing up your notes, editing, and trying to have humor and style mesh with what you saw on the field. It's not like I take readable notes, either (Eric has seen them, he knows!)
We'll see what the new year brings.
Connor (and the rest of the BBI family) do a great job! I've always said that the BBI community is up to the task, we have incredibly talented people on this board.
I miss Marty too, but he's probably enjoying the time off...it is a lot of work, and tough in these days of Twitter and live reports. I also miss Oliver, those were amazing camp reports. Hopefully Eric will have some of those as well!
For me it's a combination of no camp in Albany and no Marty. They went hand in hand. Miss the old scene, but with BBI turning 20, you can't really expect it to keep rolling indefinitely.
Thanks for the years of service Marty, I do miss your reports.
as one of the many who miss Marty's reports terribly. He did an outstanding job and each day I felt that not only was I at camp but also that I was getting fantastic insights, usually better than what the reporters were offering in terms of hardcore football information. My brother and I attended our first camp at Quest this past Sunday and we both realized how much is going on and how hard it is to keep track of everything. So we appreciate Marty, and now Connor, even more!
So, thanks a million Marty, and keep up the great work Connor.
He's a very exciting dude.
