Lester being sought by Cards and Pirates with Dodgers still in the mix.
Ryan Ludwick is apparently on the block. Has an option for next year, at 36 would be a youth movement for the Yanks.
Ned Coletti says Matt Kemp will not be dealt.
The Phillies are apparently asking too much for just about everyone.
No he is arb eligible. Contract expires after next year.
When I heard Josh Bell+ prospects I thought that was a good deal.
Cespesdes is a decent corner OFer.
Am I underestimating him?
Cespades has the best arm in baseball.
he was arbitration eligible in 2015.
His arm is awesome, but I thought the Sox could have gotten more for Lester.
Who knows, maybe Fenway helps his offense.
and maybe the A's win a playoff series.
that's what I'm saying...Dan can you explain this? I mean they even had to send Millone down because of an excess of pitching.
I was just going from baseball reference - I'm sure you're right.
do the A's get draft pick compensation, if they offer Lester a QO and don't re-sign him?
Lester, Kazmir, Gray, Samardzija could be pretty nasty. I think Chavez is near the end of the line innings wise (probably headed to the pen, another nice find) Hammel has been a turd with them. I think basically he thinks this is the year to "go for it" and pitching the way to do it.
and if he goes back to the Red Sox? Yeah, this is a bad deal for them.
Why don't they get draft pick compensation, is that part of the new rules?
And because Cespedes is a FA (assuming you are right about that) too the Sox would not get draft pick compensation if they don't sign him either?
Home - .278/.344/.494
Road - .248/.293/.447
assuming the Mets will eat a chunk of salary, maybe he's a piece that can move.
I cannot stand Victorino from his Phillies days and consider him a baseball version of Vai Sikahema. I don't feel this way about many former players from rival teams, but I would not trade for Victorino.
Gotcha my mistake. Cespedes is a good defensive OF (arm is one of the best in the game, human highlight reel, occasionally inconsistent) and he could absolutely rake at Fenway as a right-handed hitter, but his OBP was .294 last year, .303 this year. People remember the Sportscenter Top 10 moments and ignore the fact that from game to game he hasn't been a top player since 2012.
Giolito will arguably be the #1 SP prospect in all of baseball in 2015...dont think Nationals would consider that deal straight up, especially within their own divison.
Yoenis Cespedis has 17 HR this season.
Red Sox outfielders COMBINED have 14 HR.

on blogs of Nationals interested in Dan Murphy. Unlikely to happen, but my baseline would be Giolito+. What do you guys think?

That's what I would say the cost of Daniel Murphy would be. Obviously if the Nats wanted help in that position that badly and was willing to move him for Giolito, then sure. Flores or Herrera are behind Murphy. I don't want to trade Murphy but I would have to be overwhelmed.
