Brandt NFL.com: Is the NFL’s No-Nonsense Sheriff Turning Soft?
Roger Goodell has long ruled with an iron fist, but following Ray Rice’s mere two-game ban, the so-called ‘judge, jury and executioner’ is catching heat for being too lenient. Which begs another question: Why aren’t people up in arms about the Ravens doing nothing?

Quote:
"I have never seen an elite pass rusher that played the run as well as he did, because it doesn’t happen," former Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi said. "Now believe me, I understand the strategy that a lot of it was to negate his pass rush. But I know that [Vince] Lombardi used to run at Deacon Jones. You just didn’t run at Michael Strahan.

CLEVELAND
Cabot Cleveland Plain Dealer: Josh Gordon's advisors feel his 'second-hand smoke' case is stronger than the others' who tried it and lost
"There is recent precedence for a player getting shot down on the "second-hand smoke'' defense.

Former Giants and current Ravens defensive back Will Hill lost his appeal of a six-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy on May 30 after blaming his positive test on second-hand smoke. The results of Hill's test were not make public.

"He felt like he had a great chance of beating it because of the circumstances," former Giants teammate and friend Deon Grant told told Jordan Ranaan of NJ.com. "He said, 'I'll be honest with you. If it was something that I did, I would tell you I messed up. But I didn't. It was an incident in a club where people were [smoking marijuana] and it got in my system.

"It's not like how my urine was a certain kind of way before when I did do it. It's the total opposite right now. They found something in my urine, but it's not the same thing they found when I did make that mistake.''

The Giants immediately cut Hill, who had also been suspended for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy, and he was signed by the Ravens last week. (Hill's suspension under the substance-abuse policy was six games because it was his second positive test in the substance abuse program)."

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000371899/article/hall-of-fame-class-of-2014-michael-strahan-forged-unique-path

@JayGlazer: Former Eagle Jon Runyan, who battled @michaelstrahan for yrs, is coming to Canton for his enshrinement. As classy a move as there is.
Graziano is correct on one major point:
Bobby Epps : 7/31/2014 10:59 am : link
Giants TEs are terrible, perhaps the worst in the NFL. Apart from Robinson, the rest of the TEs as a group are the slowest in the NFL IMO.

As to OLs, he's correct that Trent Williams is better than Beatty but what about the rest of the Redskins OL? Polumbus is terrible and Schwartz is better than any G they have. So, IMO the Giants overall have a better OL.

He says Dez Bryant is better than any Giants WR- true but to say that Terrance Williams is better than Randle is not accurate IMO.

Demarco Murray is better than any RB the Giants have but the Giants IMO have better depth overall.

The Eagles have a very good OL but losing Lane Johnson at RT for the first 4 games will hurt them IMO. How good will he be when he comes back but can no longer use PEDs? Finally, one fact rarely mentioned about the 2013 Eagles is that after Maclin was hurt in the pre-season, the 53 players who made the final roster for Game 1 were the SAME players on the roster for Game 16, that is, NO player went on IR once the season started. I can't find another team that EVER had such good fortune in NFL history. I'm not wishing injury to any player but I don't think it's realistic for the Eagles to expect the same result in 2014. As to Eagles WRs vs. Giants Wrs, I believe the Giants have an edge because of Cruz and Randle over Maclin and Riley.

So, to summarize, the Cowboys and Eagles have a better Offense but the Giants are 3d because overall they have a better OL than the Redskins. The biggest hole on Giants offense is the absence of a good TE followed by a question mark at LT. But, hey, we already knew that.
