NFT: My debut novel launches today

BurlyMan : 7/31/2014 9:11 am
Some of you might remember that earlier this year I collaborated on a book with a fisherman from Deadliest Catch.

Well today my first novel launches. It's a mystery set in an Indian casino that follows three haunted souls. It's a blend of black humor and neo noir that draws from my years in the casino business. It also got a rave review in the L.A. Times.

If you buy, please use the BBI link to Amazon.

Good luck with it.

As a writer myself getting a book published is a huge accomplishment.
Best of luck to you.

I was really expecting this to be about a self published crap fest. But that's a really fantastic LA Times review. Definitely adding it to my list.
can you provide the amazon line
asbasb : 7/31/2014 10:13 am : link

From the review this sounds like it

There will be a Kindle version (and all the other platforms) soon and a paperback version next year. I really appreciate the kind words. It's been a looooong road.

nice work, and best of luck.

If you want to sell on BBI, you may want to consider something like a graphic novel - you know, less...wordy?

Seriously, best of luck!
Ha! I picked my handle

when I was working on a book about John L. Sullivan and Burly Man was its working title. It never occurred to me that BurlyMan is a strange way to present yourself to people you don't know. I forget who but someone here used to clown me about it all the time.

Go with it, there are a lot of sites where the name works very well (or so I have been told).
Why no ebook availability?
JerseyCityJoe : 7/31/2014 1:01 pm : link
I would have bought that today if it was an ebook. Look forward to reading it someday on my kindle. I love these types of stories. Best of luck.
JerseyCityJoe I'm not sure

That's great...congrats. We chatted a bit when you first let us know you were writing the book about Junior. I'm curious; how have sales gone for you on that one? Do you still keep in touch with him? If so, wondered how his back is really doing.
Hey PGANut
BurlyMan : 8/1/2014 11:50 am : link
Thanks for asking. I don't know the sales numbers. (It came out in April so I expect I'll get a quarterly report soon) I don't expect they're eye popping but the attraction for publishers for books about guys like Junior who are on popular shows year after year is they have a "long tail" in that the books continue to sell long after the debut. I still talk to Junior and his dad Senior every now and again. Sadly, they are huge Niners fans.

I'm afraid to ask...
Not that bad.
BlueLou : 8/2/2014 3:55 pm : link
An old SNL skit that mocked Schwarzeneger whipped out the term "girly man" in a psuedo-Austrian accent.

It was funny at the time...
TL;DR.
