NFT: B1G official welcome day for Maryland and Rutgers

DG : 7/31/2014 3:15 pm
Depressing..wish both teams had stayed put. This changes the beauty of the conference and not in a good way.

From a (non-monetary) point of view, Pitt & UConn would have been better adds.

Both teams will regret leaving their old conferences imo.

What do my fellow Big Ten fans think?

Pitt a better add?

I can see no perspective where Pitt is ever a better add than anything. Scummy fans, small market, and consistently mediocre/underachieving programs....
6 years to wait to get full Big Ten money, wonderful

Do I have to stop bashing the quality of football in the Big Ten now that Rutgers has joined? Because I don't plan on doing that.
Welcome Rutgers

Every team here is thrilled to have you for both football and wrestling. You will be getting your ass handed to you for years! So glad you came ;-)
Well, Rutgers

does have a rich history of having a great MBA program, at least until the 1970s (:
Welcome to Big 10 football!

Scummy fans? Not familiar with the Terps, huh?
Welcome Rutgers Scarlet Knights!

To honor your arrival into our prestigious Midwestern conference we will show some of the greatest games in Rutgers history:

- the Thursday night win over Louisville in 2006

(why did we invite them again? Oh yeah, they border NYC. So whose up for some old Michigan-Ohio State games!)
Hey Rutgers was something in 1976!

Maybe we can do it once every 40 years?
IMO Rutgers greatest game was a loss
PatersonPlank : 7/31/2014 5:53 pm : link
17-13 versus #1 Alabama in 1980. We absolutely dominated the second half but just couldn't get in front. We even had the ball deep in Bama territory to end the game.

I expect the ribbing

Fans the B1H has just as many d-bags as the Jets and Eagles. Funny in guess I kissed all those great wrestling teams at the bottom of the conf we are supposed to be so afraid of. Football as well. Yeah that Indiana team scares us with their long history of success.
Gotta say

Big ten fans disparaging the invitation of Rutgers alluding to performance on the field vs other intangible factors, is kind of ironic given the prestige of the conference thanks to intangible factors vs their performance on the field. That said, thrilled to be a part of it!
Just watched replay of RU/Louisville game

& got the feeling in the pit of my stomach watching Jeremy Ito kick again!
Welcome Rutgers

You keep Purdue from having the most f'ed up athletic department in the conference.

Thank you for that.
By the way

The BigTen is more than just about sports. Rutgers and Maryland fit nicely.
