there's no reason to insert Richburg at that spot. As was pointed out, he's been seeing time at G and getting good reviews. If anyone on the current starting 5 is keeping a seat warm it's Mosley.
his footwork on that clip on the inside zone runs against Pittsburgh. He does a lot right and after contact, gets a good arch, wheels his hips and seals the defender off from the run lane.
Looks really good in that clip. I hope that's the guy we've got. Hard to tell if he's still got that kind of footwork post injury.
We won't know until the real shooting starts if he's completely recovered.

The Giants picked the best Center in the draft in round two. His "starter money" notwithstanding, there was no guarantee that Walton would ever return to form; he'd been out-of-action for almost two years. Hence, the Richburg pick, and the desire by the Giants to move on from the Kevin Boothes, Jom Cordles, and Dallas Reynolds of this world. There's depth, and then there's quality depth. Now the Giants have quality depth. To his credit, Richburg is proving to be a capable Guard, a position he only played a handful of times as an underclassman, but he is without question their Center-of-the-future.
The Giants are not fielding a "patchwork" offensive line. That's just plain stupid. "Patchwork" connotes temporary fixes smacking of desperation. That has definitely not been the Giants' O-Line plan this offseason, and to suggest otherwise is, again, just plain stupid.
When's the last time the Giants have had that? Brian Roberts. O'Hara, while great, was always more of a finesse center, and our short game suffered. It'd be great to see a center that can regularly blow a DT (or two) off the line.

I guess we may have some initial shakiness becasue of the chanegs but I think the o-line will wind up being pretty good. This team seems a little underrated in the media. I hope Beckham is a force this year because I think he can open up the entire offense.
I should preface this by saying that I haven't seen a lot of him in action other than some clips and articles and such, but here's what I know...

2. Was the 2nd center drafted and was highly touted coming into the league(as opposed to a reach that people questioned).
3. Came into the league and started every game plus playoffs. People want to point to bad PFF numbers, but he was playing behind Tebow(enough said).
4. Then a real QB took over and his PFF numbers were great. It's just more proof that those PFF numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt. People try and justify it by saying he got better, but that's hogwash, the offense was better because he had an actual QB.
5. Then he had a severe injury and never made it back.....until now.
The injury concern is legitimate, but IF he regains form, he's going to be a starter on this team and I think he's going to significantly improve the interior line.
NO doubt about that, after some early rookie blahs he seemed to really come around. Richburg is the best OL we've taken since Snee, he has the AA to be a perennial Pro Bowler at C or G in my opinion.

6. We have more depth and got rid of some injury proneness.
Will the improvement be enough and will a new offensive system help the line? Time will tell, but I believe the line will be significantly improved.
The more you look at this offense, the more it seems the key is Beckham. That is a lot to ask of a rookie WR but I do believe he will open up the offense and the underneath with his speed and playmaking ability.
We have a different offense than the 2008 version but Beckham may be close to as important as Plax was in 2008.
Need to understand that it takes a few seasons to develop a really good OLine, and decent line will be a huge improvement over last season, plus an offensive line still needs talent around it to show it is good. I hope I don't have to get into how important a good defense is around here in Giant land. Reese may not be the best out there, but he has done a good job here.
Yes, they needed better, healthier players on the OL. In addition to that, they're plugging in an offense with quick hitting and intermediate routes built in so that the line doesn't have to protect as long per play, as for those downfield, home run balls we used to rely on so much.
In the pre-season last year he was playing at a level that justified his contract and his draft status. He was playing at an incredibly high level, and he did at times during the season but he was so hot and cold it was incredible. He looked dominant one play, clueless the next, it had to be something we weren't clued in on. It could be mental, but I have no doubt whatsoever that he has the ability to be a top flight LT he just has to want it and be consistent.
He played terribly last year and is now coming off a broken leg. If he's a negative player, his spot could jeopardize the season. He doesn't really have a back up on the team unless you think Pugh can play that spot.

I like the way Walton uses his hands, a TON, and his footwork is good too. He handles a lot of 1 on 1 responsibility vs a nose T on that tape v. the Steelers, and generally does OK, but at times got his ass whipped too. Let's face it, he isn't a doppleganger for Alex Mack either.

he is excellent getting out on screens. he and pugh are our 2 best blockers, we will need to figure out how we want 2 play this

He wasn't the reason our OL sucked last season. Put solid guys to the right of him and Beatty will do fine going one on one with the opposing DEs.

He's full go. Been practicing getting to the second level and blocks on the run.

The fact that Mosley is doing well is an amazing development. Let him and Richburg battle for the RG position. Now we have a little depth at Oline.
