Decided it was time to give them the yearly call to get a discount/freebie on Sunday Ticket. First lady I talked to wasn't much help at all. Told her the only reason I have DirecTV is because of the Sunday Ticket, and since they are charging me me $54.99/month for 6 months, I can't afford that and need to cancel. I told them I have another provider offering me a good deal on TV service as well as paying for my DirecTV cancellation fees (have like 10 months left on a contract). She offered me $10 off per month for the 6 months. Told her that wasn't good enough and I needed to know how many more months I have on my contract so I could tell Cox Communications since they are going to cover it. She couldn't pull up that information (yeah right), so she transferred me to Chelsea. I waited a few minutes for Chelsea to look up discounts for my account. She did say that she was going to remove the auto-renew first (maybe that affects what type of discounts you get, not sure) from my account. She came back and offered me 50% off the Sunday Ticket price, $10 off a month for 12 months, and a 1 time discount of $25. Bang, sign me up. She kept saying how she wanted to make sure they kept loyal customers like me (customer since 2007).
Just wanted to pass along this information for anybody else preparing for a phone call!
That's for ST only, I don't go in for the To Go portion.
I also cancelled Starz while I was at it, since I don't ever watch Starz or Encore. That should essentially make it a wash.
So, them giving me any discount at all was going to be a bonus for me.

That's a good deal Wuphat. Been looking at getting game pass and it basically works out to the same price as you are getting directv for.
The only catch is if I did that same thing as a new customer - I would not get the equipment for free and would need to pay for installation.
That's the catch. You cannot just buy the Red Zone. You have to buy Sunday ticket.
ive never had a bad experience with their customer service. Great company
I really want to cancel those channels, but they sweet talk me into keeping them.
My next call was to Comcast to lower my bill on Internet access, I was paying $44.99 per month, that is now $34.99 per month for 12 months. 30mbps down 5mbps up.
I was also offered upgrade of DVR to be able to record 7 programs or somethink like that at once for free. I passed on that because currently we record so many shows that we have had to drop some because of time constraints.
Again really a pleasure working with Direct TV but the other providers are starting to catch up on price.
Hope this helps.

charging for just Red Zone channel this year?
Not exactly the case. I have had just red zone for a number of years running. Need to speak with a retention supervisor to have it added.
