Likely because Beatty won't play Sunday night in HOF game RT @Connor_J_Hughes: Charles Brown in with first team at LT, not Beatty #Giants
Or he could be the next David Douglas. He's making a pretty strong case for sticking, though. Seems like every day he's catching a TD pass from somebody.

Would it be possible to get these updates posted in a thread like they used to be? It's a pain having to click on all these links and scroll through the Twitter feed in this new format.
The reason why you're not generating any discussion is because you're fragmenting your userbase with every single update/post that you do.
1) Your front page is not very user-friendly at all and I'm not sure you even allow comments on any of your articles.
2) Everyone is used to commenting in a thread for better discussion and they've been doing this for almost two decades.
3) Live updates in a thread allow people to comment on them as they come in. Live updates in a twitter widget is passive and people aren't going to stare at it all day. It also could be disabled on some work computers. Mobile seems to be broken.
You're doing a great job expanding your coverage with all the new articles, but you are not monetizing properly and it's 100% because your web design, layout and traffic patterns are just not up to par.
If you want to foster discussion then you need to decide whether or not you want to use a comments section or a forum. Not both. If you want your forum to grow beyond the same people who've been here for 20 years, you need to design and implement some pretty common forum tools, like being able to go to the last "read" post so people can come in and out of threads and check up on them, or even reply to people easily.
Anyway, it's your site and if I was a judge of things you shouldn't need a donation drive to support the site with the amount of traffic you get.

I can't speak to some of the technical aspects of running a website, but "fragmented" does seem like a good word to describe a BBI user's experience for this training camp. One thing about the live feed is that the tweets have nothing to do with each other. There's one about Strahan, then one about Eli, then one about Beatty, then one about someone else. A tweet about the HOF, then one about a rookie's ankle sprain. It's not a discussion, just information coming in a fairly random manner. I don't find it easy to read, not in terms of reading it on the screen, but in terms of there being any flow to the information. The forum, on the other hand, is organized by topic. I think everyone's trying to follow what's happening at training camp but it's harder to have a discussion about it.
at the computer, but, doesn't hitting the last post function organize the posts in the sequence in which someone last posted on them? I use it to refresh the live updates and simply remember what time I started reading so I know where to pick up.
then again, I'm on a regular computer, not a mobile device (whatever the hell that is) so maybe I'm outta the loop. are there updates I'm missing?
8 years and know some SEO as well. No prob helping out FYI. I agree the site shouldn't need a donation drive. I assume this thing gets lots of traffic.

Surprised that the Giants would not donate something for "advertising". Especially since we are providing back links to their site, etc etc
Not a fan, to be honest. I preferred it when the tweets were posted on here and it sparked discussion. Maybe I'm just a guy that doesn't like change. I understand the reason for change though. Must be a hell of a lot easier to let a widget post the tweets than some guy copy/pasting every tweet onto here.
No wonder there hasn't been much discussion around here. I feel like a good portion of BBI relied on those "post tweets here" threads as discussion points.

Good to know theres some other PHP dev Giant fans around here!
I spent a too much time looking for your email the other day, and finally gave up. Not sure where you are keeping it on the site anymore. You might want to put it in your profile.
My feedback was that I like yah new format, and one feature would greatly enhance it. If you could add a sort feature that would be wonderful. I sometimes have the luxury of following along live, but mostly read at the end of the day, and I really enjoy when I can read chronologically top to bottom. As is I have to scroll to the bottom, load more posts (continually) and then work my way back up.
FWIW, I also haven't been able to find older "Live Updates:". Are you archiving them? I know that we have camp reports, and I rely on them, but it was always nice to be able to go through the thread each day if I was too tied up for a couple of days. The net effect is a feeling that I lost a few camp practices over the first bit of camp. This in turn makes me less likely to comment on football threads as I have more of an "out of the loop" feeling than before.
Thanks as always for all you do - BBI is still the best on the web!
You can sort posts...you have had this ability to do that for years...you can sort by started by, views, posts, last post.
Secondly, contact information is in the link of the footer of on every page of this website (as is the industry norm). It is also linked in the "Home/Contact Us" section on the menu bar of every page.
Not sure how I missed the link at the bottom of every page. Appreciate it.
Regarding sorts, I meant sort the twitter feed in the live update page. Not sure if what you have there is a widget or something, but if there were a chance to hit sort, oldest tweet first, that would be amazing.
If so will probably wait till next week..thanks in advance for any info..
Ughhh.

If there were no picks, you'd be complaining about the DBs.
Add him to the list of guys I'm anxious to see play on Sunday.
Good news on Bennett Jackson, hearing it's just a sprain, and not a serious one. Should be back in action soon. #nyg

Beatty won't play Sunday? That's a bummer...
The new format also seems like it generates less discussion.
You'd think it was the middle of the offseason around.
Giants fans seem to be more interested in non-football stuff.
It would be nice if you could see the top tweet and the comments section in the same screen without scrolling.
Perhaps shorten the twitter feed box and replace eric's bio with the comment entry box
again with the comment entry on top as opposed to the bottom
just a thought

The live updates are great, much easier to keep track of at work.

They set up a widget that streams tweets as they are made. Follow the link at the beginning of this thread

Most registered BBI'ers simply don't like talking football - at least until the game start.
