I'm listening in my car Thinking it was ESPN but i'm not sure
The announcer says that David Wilson will be out for the year
decimating our running game and the offensive line has not been upgraded over last year.
This made me so fucking angry----even a casual fan knows on
paper our running game and offensive line are greatly
improved not to mention our line backing being stronger than ever
is this stupidity or just to have something to say to fill up air space
There. I said it.
Wilson is not even a dinkle berry in tikis as as far as a producer. giants will be way better. they will cut their turnovers by more than half. that is the main reason they were losing games last year.
Also, unless I'm mistaken, he's not meeting with his Dr until Monday.
The Giants may suck, but to use Wilson being injured as a reason just seems lazy. There are lots of reasons the Giants may struggle but Wilson not playing isn't one of them.
Has the o-line really been upgraded? Maybe marginally. And there will be injuries.
Looking back to that line's pinnacle, it really was incredible how healthy they all stayed so many years in a row.
LB core is certainly improved... with Beason. Let's hope he can play this year and at last year's level. Remember, the reason Carolina traded him for nothing was because he was always hurt. Hoping for the best.
My expectations are fairly low. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Sorry, but this is just stupid. From a 3rd string center and backup guards to the group we have now is "margial". No, it's stupid.
Most of those sportstalk guys have never heard of the Giants' prospects, and never consider the idea that players from previous drafts might have developed now, so in their minds: Richburg will stink, Kennard will stink, Mosely will stink, Taylor will stink, Hankins will stink, Moore, and so on. But I don't think those guys will stink. I think some of those guys are going to be very good, and light-years better than the guys who left.
I left Robinson off, because after landing at the bottom of the depth chart, I'm thinkin' he might actually stink.
The only question mark is LT if you ask me. The other four spots have clearly been addressed and at least on paper, upgraded. There are three extra, pretty talented bodies (Schwartz, Walton and Richburg) that weren't involved with last year's unit and the guys they are replacing were downright horrible last season. We aren't asking these guys to replace much.
Add in that Pugh and Mosely are a year older, throw in the added depth from the likes of Jerry and Brown and you have an OL that has all but been completely revamped.
Everyone wanted change this off season. Everyone wanted the OL to be rebuilt. The Giants spent good money on interior linemen in Schwartz and Walton and spent a high pick on (probably) the best interior lineman of this draft in Richburg. Really can't ask for more than that.
The OL will probably be overrated by season's end because it's going to be at least average this season. And that will prompt people to label the unit a bit unfairly because of what we saw in 2013.
It's early but you have to be a little bit encouraged with the OL this summer. Richburg is getting a lot of love and Beatty is upright and on the field. If those two things hold true to form the OL will be the least of our worries. And we have decent depth.

and everyone said the giants will finish 5-11 at best?

8-8 type team. We'll see.

Ah so you're taking our lineup towards end of year after 10+ games and injuries and comparing it to our unit August 1, pre a single snap. Not to mention limited experience of the former 3rd/4th round picks occupying 2/5's of our paper-thin depth OL this year.
Makes perfect sense.
so I guess we just think each other's comments are stupid. That's fine.
I just think its low brow to assume any opinion different then yours (who are you exactly?) is "stupid"... 8-8 as pretty much been where this team has been since 2009. It's not exactly an outrageous statement.
I still think it was "marginal" improvement but we'll find out soon enough and happy to eat crow.
We have Rashad Jennings now who is a capable RB much like Andre Brown was but Jennings is better out of the backfield and hopefully healthier.
If the Giants have a healthy Andre Brown for 80% of the time in 2012 and 2013 they make the playoffs and probably win at least 8-9 games last year. The lack of a real RB on this team just killed them. Andre Brown running the ball means we probably beat Dallas in week 1. Probably beat the Bears...or the Eagles....or all three.
That's the key and the Giants to a man know it. They Must run the ball in 2014.
Their secondary held it's own for the most part and one would have to be blind not to see the depth and load of talent the depth that unit possesses. It should be a strength and one of the better secondaries in all the NFL.
They have three bonifide starters along the offensive line and the drafting of Weston adds to that and is expected to be a starter. A lot depends on Beatty but can he play any worse. He can only play better.
Depth at running back. They are swimming in it this year. Last year it was nonexistent. With all that said there are no guaruntees. But for people to just arbitrarily write this team off because of what occurred last year are not paying attention to the talent this team currently possesses.
But I just can't imagine this team could have the same level of turnovers, injuries and poor special teams play that it did last season. Those should "normalize" to some degree and count as a few more wins at least.
"Dinkle Berry" needs to be added to the BBI lexicon along side pre-madonna and others
If his leg is healed he WILL BE Eli's guardian angel.
They kept Eli, Cruz, Pugh and Beatty and upgraded everyone else, including the coordinator. The jury is out on whether or not this team will be "good" next season but I'm confident they will be better. And if they're better than they're 7-9 finish from last season there's a good chance they'll win the division.
Also, we lost more man games to injury then any other team in the league last year (I believe...) and I pray that doesn't happen again.
If we stay fairly healthy, play solid defense and special teams we will be fine.
At OT, unless Justin Pugh comes down with a serious case of the Sophomore Blues, I expect him to perform better than he did as a rookie (which was pretty damned good, all things considered). He's had a year in the program, is reportedly bigger and stronger, and has been looking good in camp.
Will Beatty is still something of an enigma, but I consider the fact that he was not PUPed before camp began - something that many fans and pundits predicted - to be a very positive sign. Migraines aside - and they're not something to take lightly - he's had a good camp, too. You might want to look at the clip of him knocking JPP on his ass. I expect Beatty to rebound from his abysmal 2013 campaign.
But you still have Beatty being counted on.....
They "nickel and dimed" Boothe for years, while paying others around him, much more money, even though he played better than them....He was knocked for last year's performance, but look who played to the left and right of him....now they are paying Schwartz, 5x's the amount of money they paid Boothe....think they get their money's worth? And they are playing him out of position....
Counting on a center that has an injury history?
Revolving door at RG?
Pugh, is the best guy on the line at the moment....
No depth?
And just how long have these guys played together?
Yes, when you have reached the bottom of the pit, there is no place to go but up.....but in this case, how high will up be?
