"Gress, 6-7 and 300 pounds, is a rookie free agent from Penn State, where he played in 32 career games with 12 starts. As a senior in 2013, he started eight games as part of a three-man tackle rotation with Gary Gilliam and Donovan Smith."

sucks

because Kropog had been working with second team line at times. He had a shot.
Any relation to Joe Prokop?
Lurts : 8/1/2014 1:42 pm : link
Kropop, a four-year veteran, was signed by the Giants on Jan. 7. He recently suffered a foot injury in practice.
Ah, shoot.

meant to quote, not bold. Sorry.
Gress

needs a lot of strength work and doesn't seem to have the feet for the pull the Giants like.
Good spot for a veteran after final cuts are made

Another Sean Locklear, Stacy Andrews type...It looks the end for Brewer unless they need someone who can play TE in their goal line or short yardage formations...even that may not be enough.

Agreed DD I think the Giants will carry 9 OL this season and barring injury the backups for week one will be Jerry, Richburg, Brown, and a veteran who isn't on the roster yet.
Tough break for Kropog.
Klaatu : 8/1/2014 2:12 pm : link
I thought he might have a shot at sticking. The Giants might keep Eric Herman as their 9th OL.
I think there's a chance...
Milton : 8/1/2014 2:31 pm : link
...the Giants keep only eight OL. It doesn't make sense to keep 9 OL on the 53 man roster if the 9th guy isn't any better than someone you could keep on the practice squad. It's not like all nine would be active on game day.
Is

this just preliminary? Will he ultimately be waived with an injury settlement?
8 OL is risky unless they're really confident

in the overall group.

I would expect that to be the case AcidTest, unless it's a serious injury that actually threatens to keep him out for the year. I think Kris Adams was the only player from last season who had a problem in this situation. Kropog's agent and the Giants will most likely come to an agreement though, as is typical in situations like this.
Looks like Brewer

is another total bust for the Giants. Pick #117 in 2011, thats pretty high. The beat goes on and on for our poor draft choices.
Eric: I wonder what happened to Kropog because
Bobby Epps : 8/1/2014 3:54 pm : link
no mention of his being injured in your Training Camp report of 7/31. I agree with you that he had a shot at making the final roster.

Could it have happened later, perhaps while he was lifting?
Bobby, Kropog got carted off the field a couple of days ago.
Klaatu : 8/1/2014 4:30 pm : link
I don't remember the exact date, but I do remember him getting hurt.

PMS, there were 254 players drafted in 2011. 116 before Brewer, 137 after him. But, yeah, that's pretty high, boy howdy. Fire Reese Now!
Klaatu: Thanks.
Bobby Epps : 8/1/2014 4:36 pm : link
I missed that report.
