"Fenner, 6 feet and 200 pounds, spent the 2013 season on the Seattle Seahawks’ injured reserve list with a knee injury. He was waived by Seattle on Tuesday, when the Seahawks signed former Giant Terrell Thomas.
Fenner entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012. He had six tackles in the preseason – including five in a game vs. Green Bay – before being waived by the Chiefs in the final cutdown. Fenner was signed to Seattle’s practice squad on Dec. 6, 2012.
Fenner played in 44 games at Holy Cross (and finished his career with 158 career tackles). As a senior in 2011, he ranked fourth on the team with 68 total tackles. Big CB at 198 lbs., above average quickness in 10 yds., about average deep speed in 40 yds., above average agility, athleticism, burst and explosiveness, based on average NFL standards.
So, on paper an above average CB in physical ability cut by a team (Seahawks) deep at CB and with Travis Howard injured and Bennett Jackson with an ankle sprain.
Just what I was thinking, but perhaps this is as good a P/U as we could expect on Aug. 1. Could the big difference between Thomas & Fenner be in salary. Just asking.
I'm going to be surprised if trumaine McBride doesn't make the roster. He played above replacement level last year and I can't imagine he's much of a cap hit.
