Just a quick question, I know when we use #bbi on twitter, we get a lot of mentions of other things.. some rap group uses the same initials, and I've noticed a lot of stuff in french.
Possible that we use #bigblueinteractive as the hashtag instead to cut down on that junk?
or two ... but watching the first string just now was like watching the 4th Qtr of pre-season games in past years ... didn't recognize 50% of the players on the field
No, the OL isn't all that likely to be good this year (though hopefully less terrible than last season), but you shouldn't be expecting them to be a finished product tonight, especially with Brown out there instead of Beatty.
If their 2s were bitch snapping our 1s then yeah, annoyance would be apt. But it's good to see Williams run. He looks better than Jennings, in terms of speed.
"OK" so far as we're conservative with the plays but in typical form we're stubborn with the run and then BAM we start geting big gains. Watch for a win with the 2nds and 3rds playing big. Glad to see starters ... playing.
None of these guys have played together with each other. It'll take some time for them to get in shape and get in sync. I expect to see a lot of improvement over the course of each preseason game. And btw, the Bills pass rush is pretty good.
Weird watching this game. You knew there was a lot of roster turnover this offseason but actually seeing the team unveiled it hits home.... we have made a shit ton of changes
LT is Sentreal Henderson. So many pot and other character problems, I would never fault the Giants for not taking him. That is especially true given the emphasis on "team captains" and high character guys.

Thurman Thomas? Williams has about an inch and 35lbs on Thurman Thomas...and can't catch. Other than that, they're near twins.
I think a bigger Bradshaw is a more apt comparison for Andre.
Are still 90 plus percent propositions in the nfl. I like the idea in general but id move it back even further. If you want to make the play truly intriguing dont half ass it
when we sacked them on 3rd down? I know Bowman had the 2nd one.
Pugh
No, the first defensive penalty when we sacked them on 3rd down and gave them on 1st. Someone said Bowman, but I know he was the guilty one the 2nd time.... so he had both penalties?
I don't believe Coughlin will go with a kid at kicker when he's got a pretty good vet in the mix. I just have this bad feeling McManus will have a nice career somewhere other than here. I'd love a long-term answer there.
Good...Andre Williams, Henry Hynoski, Rashad Jennings, Prince Amukamara (except one missed tackle)...Johnathan Hankins... Marcus Harris. Nassib has looked decent.
First team OL struggled against first team defense of Bills.

McBride, James, and Bowman playing well, Hosley might not make this team..
I think we are better w/o Hosley. He just seems to lack instincts for the position. Fast enough to stay with his man, but he doesn't play the ball well enough.
Had high hopes for him after the pick 6 vs. the Jets in preseason a few years back. But, it hasn't translated.

In all fairness bills starting d line is pretty damned good.
Oline depth looks better so far this year. Haven't seen that in a while.
A Williams looks the part and Nassib looking pretty decent. Marcus Harris also having good showing. Hopefully game doesn't get sloppier in 2nd half with 3rd stringers.
Williams very impressive, he's got another gear when he's running, especially compared to the plodding pace of Hillis. Hynoski looked good out there, far better as a lead blocker than Donnell out of the backfield. Pugh struggled against Mario Williams, but then again so do most players. Randle had some good downfield blocking, Jernigan made some solid catches, Harris definitely flashing and looking strong out there. Nassib looks much more comfortable than last year, good call giving him the early roll out and then he found a good rhythm.
Moore with a sack, took down Tuel with authority. Has a couple pressures as well. Prince looking sharp, with DRC out there he's going to get tested and so far so good. Hankins looked strong against the run, Williams looked good in coverage. Cooper Taylor with a big fuck up on the punt block, gets the deflection pick to negate the turnover but that is a mistake that cannot be made at the edge of the punt team. Weatherford had a great punt after the first drive to pin the Bills deep. Jayron Hosley is getting beaten regularly, between the new depth at CB and his suspension he's going to need to massively pick up his game to make this team.
mentioned it in passing as the half ended, but I still don't understand why Preseason games have the ability to go to Overtime. At least a few times a year we watch coaches go through all kinds of permutations late in the game to avoid having the 4th Quarter end tied. Can't they just say "In the preseason, the game ends after 4 Quarters, regardless of score."
There was an ESPN 30 for 30 about the QB class of 83....Kelly talked about how he had no interest in playing in Buffalo, but once he got there he became a huge part of the community and loved it. Seems like a real class act

Who would object to that?
I believe this was voted down during offseason competition committee meeting
looked like crap vs the Bills starting defense. understand this is just the first pre-season game and it was just two series so I am not going to jump ship or anything. However, if they still look like this after the last pre-season game, then we should start to be worried.
hasn't been as bad as some people want him to look (why they want a NYG to fail, I have no idea). He looked decent with the second teamers. Third/4th teamers haven't helped.
looks comfortable out there and has made some solid throws. The grounding was bad but lets be hones we saw Eli do the same mistake about 5 times last year. The pick that called back give him a break on, most QB's would have difficulty throwing with their facemask being ripped off
I have liked the way Nassib has looked. But, let's be honest. His facemask wasn't touched until after he threw the ball. It was just a bad read and throw.
The throw includes the whole motion, not just when you are cocking your arm back. The guy ripped his face mask off on the follow through. It affected the throw.
I am very happy it looks like Painter will be replaced.
At this stage, I'd rather spend the roster spot on someone with potential who we know little about than a guy who has already proven he can't play in the NFL when given a chance.
Didn't see that coming. I'm a bit worried about him. Damonster however, he is coming along nice. Plays hungry, and with intensity. We need JPP this year, though. It's make or break for him.
We'll have to agree to disagree because I didn't think it was on his follow through. The way I saw it was the face mask was hit after he finished his motion.
last to the 7th rd, and the Giants knowing they have been lacking depth at LT didn't take a chance on him?? Didn't the Giants bring Henderson for a look as well??
this was a good outing. I am a little shocked JPP got held in check by a rookie. Granted it's preseason, but I am curious to see if he will ever be that guy we saw that dominated or is this it?
Giving the QB clean pockets. Our Line coaches could learn a lot from this game. Our first o couldn't run on the bills' first defensive unit. Couldn't pass block em that well either truthfully.
last to the 7th rd, and the Giants knowing they have been lacking depth at LT didn't take a chance on him?? Didn't the Giants bring Henderson for a look as well??
Henderson is a pothead with a reputation for being lazy, somebody who just wants to skate by on his talent. Maybe he turns his life around, but after Hill, there was no way the Giants were going to draft Henderson. My guess is that they wouldn't have even brought him in as a UDFA. Not with their renewed emphasis on "team captains" and high character.
the Giants didn't follow that theme, even their late rd selections were "team captain, well-respected" players...Coughlin is trying to rebuild the leadership that has been lost due to the retirement/aging of guys like Snee, Diehl, etc etc.
Hearing Coughlin just getting asked about Wilson, it doesn't sound promising. Obviously I hope for the best for the kid, personally and professionally, but hearing Coughlin there makes me think they kind of already know. I guess we will find tomorrow.

I think he's done. I forget who it was but someone in a thread said he knows a Giants equipment guy who said they saw troubling things on Wilson's x-ray. If I know the Giants, they will recommend that Wilson end his career.

What I don't understand is how they would see something on x-ray ... Wilson is post surgery and one would think they took TONS of film to monitor his progress post surgery ... why would they suddenly see something troubling?

given that the Giants drafted Marvin Austin in the second round
He is not a good tackler because he lacks size. But he can cover.
You guys are exaggerating how poorly he played in coverage. He was beaten on a quick out. Other than that, he was decent in coverage. He had a poor effort on that one missed tackle.
On a 3 step drop, 1 read pass attempt what exactly is JPP supposed to do. He is not going to get to the QB in 2 seconds. What do people expect. 1st preseason game.
I really don't think he went all out.
They came out of the game healthy for the most part

GMEN VS BILLS - ( New Window )
One good, long series for the first string offense, one good three and out for the starting defense and then let's see the reserves.
Go, Giants!
Let's go! Let's execute this offense and hope for no injuries.
:)
O_o
our offensive line obviously needs alot of work
our offensive line obviously needs alot of work
My son and I said the same thing.
Now Prince overruns an easy tackle.
That was more on Schwartz than Brown, to be fair.
Brown got abused to the inside, so Eli couldnt step up in the pocket and forced him to reverse out. He was beaten very badly by Hughes.
Shut regulars/vets down for night
First and second year players should be fun to watch

I thought the same thing. Zero explosion. And yes the line looks putrid.
At least we seem to be able to run a screen for once.
Like to see some to JJ or Cruz.

That's up to them. They need to get open now. I want to see bubble screens with them, especially JJ.
So far they look like shit but it's the first game and Buffalo has a good line.
Pretty simple IMO. All about the OL this year.
Haha I thought it was Bradshaw too.
and if they looked bad we'd be bitching.

Gotta start somewhere
The play were Eli fumbled was supposed to be a deep pass.
Agreed. I know it was against their twos, but that was still impressive. Smashed it right down their throats.
Yes...it's only one drive in one preseason game. Early signs look encouraging and I thought he was Ahmad Bradshaw for a little bit
This 70% will be easy shit.
Thurman Thomas? Williams has about an inch and 35lbs on Thurman Thomas...and can't catch. Other than that, they're near twins.

Hi motor white guy
He batted down a pass earlier, but not even in the same zip code as the QB.

Haven't been reading the practice reports, huh?
2. Richburg at LG looks promising. Arms like tree trunks. Explosive and can move.
3. Williams is a monster.
Nassib looks much better as well. Still don't think we want Eli out for even a game but hopefully they can cut Painter and use that spot.
Jonathan Ogden looks like a monster compared to everyone else.

Proud to say that I saw him play in the USFL when I was living in CA. The Gamblers beat the crap out of the Oakland Invaders.
Amen.
No injuries for us in the 1st half (at least none that stood out)
Marcus Harris could possibly make this team.
Peyton Hillis looks Sloooooooooooooooooooooow.
/srcm
Good position.
Well, he is slow.
He's a guy every team has on their roster. A filler JAG.
looked like 18 but was heck of leaping int by the LB
I think he just totally over-shot Hillis, given how Hillis leapt for it.
Hillis was never going to make that.
Was thinking the same thing.
Or Dave Brown?
no need if eli gets hurts we done anyway
Agreed. So they are going to nit-pick on defensive PI, but let the pick play go...
looked like it
He did seem to grab for his knee when he got up.
What team does? Nassib has not been bad tonight.

Yes, he did. It looked like he was bent backwards.
nassib looks fine
I don't think it may I think it definitely is.
We need to go dumpster diving and turn every stone look on other team's practice squads.
what TE was there to throw money at ??
Quote:
we still don't have a TE after throwing all that money around this offseason. This group may actually be worse than last year.
what TE was there to throw money at ??
I understand it's slim pickings, but I couldn't have fathomed having a worse group than last year. Yet here we are.
aside from shaky pocket awareness I think he's looked fine. Lock him up as the #2
He really is...What a battle he has had the last 15 years..You truly have to admire his toughness and spirit
Not a good sign we didn't see more from JPP tonight.
They probably will alternate the FG kicking. I do like the leg out of McManus though.. the 47 yd kick had plenty of leg.
Didn't see that coming. I'm a bit worried about him. Damonster however, he is coming along nice. Plays hungry, and with intensity. We need JPP this year, though. It's make or break for him.
Nassib would have been #2....unless he runs over Kate Mara in the parking lot......and let hope Reeses' desire that he never plays a snap comes true.
He has looked good. People who expect no mistakes are unreal.
"Whipped around like a helicopter, is Cox."
That's why the DL got their arms up and blocked a few passes.
Missed it. Damn.
On quick one-read pass attempts, yes. But, he did learn and got his hands up for a batdown at the LOS.
I don't think it's that much of a concern that JPP didn't have two sacks and three pass pressures.

Our 2nd team Oline really needs some work. We are going to
be addressing this area for awhile.
Hosley's best shot is the drug suspension that keeps him around six weeks.
1st team OL was horrific until they were playing Buffalo's 2nd team ...
