I see ALOT of opportunity in the tempo dept. seems as though a lot of confusion within new offense. Macado needs to clean himself up...he looks very sloppy(personal appearance) on sidelines. Williams IMO best player of the night.
Are you serious with McAdoo's personal appearance? The guy's got long hair and facial hair, so what? If his offense puts up points, I don't care if he looks like Oscar the Grouch with coffee stains on his shirt.
Nah, he's right, I was kinda thinking it myself he looks like a slob.

and if he is a slob, how does that affect his offensive play calling? If he trims up his beard and hair and wears a suit, is that going to make our OL block better?

Nice poise showed by Tom Coughlin at rare outdoor press conference with Bills fans screaming not-so-nice stuff at him a few feet away.

It doesn't. It's not really a big deal, but it's still, like, representing in a shabby way.it's aesthetically unapealling in a relatively young man on a televised sport where people look at him. Seriously, it looked like the Walrus put more time into his appearance than MacAdoo. Not saying being a slob makes one a bad coach. Just makes one a slob. Just isn't necessary.Says to the world "I didn't put much preparation into this", which is not a good look in an OC.
Mario Williams and Kyle Williams are complete monsters. Brandon Spikes is a thumper against the run. There's real talent up front on that side. Not a shock they ate up the OL. We're talking about a pair of all pros.
Bad...JPP, first-team OL against first-team defense, Hosley was dogshit, Hillis looked slow, 1st team WR's outside Jernigan invisible.
It's only the first preseason game but JPP's weak performance is alarming to me. We cannot survive him being the "Hakeem Nicks of defensive ends." He's not hurt. He should have a least flashed SOMETHING.
JPP looked like he played not to get hurt. Not worried at all.
Hankins looked pretty quick and so did Kuhn.
Bromley seems to have quick first step.
Kerry Wynn and Jordan Stanton applied good pass rush from DE. Wynn looked coming down the line to stop running play.
Harris and Washington looked fast and quick, especially Washington at 6'4" 212 lbs.
Andre Williams looked fast and shifty.
Hynoski mowed 'em down.
Nassib looked pretty good overall, for 2d year player in new offense.
McManus looked like he could have kicked FG from 60 yds, out.
Hillis looked OK between the tackles, not so good to the outside.
Berhe can hit.
Richburg IMO missed several blocks- just seems to need to adjust to speed of game. Landon Cohen, who's fighting for his career, looked like his was treating the game like a playoff game against Richburg.
Schwartz did not look good on running or passing plays.
Fox looked weak, easily moved on running plays.
Brewer got no movement on running plays.
Taylor looked overwhelmed on punt team.
I couldn't focus on the OL outside of the sack-fumble
but Pugh got beat by mario williams easily, and Schwartz got crossed up and beaten on a stunt from Kyle Williams. Charlie Brown didn't help matters much.
That's going to happen. Those guys expect to go to Hawaii every year.
They say to build a good football team you start with the lines. Neither starting line looked like anything that's gonna scare anyone.WE still need significant work.
I've said many times we are in year 2 of a 3 year rebuild. This is why. Many holes filled, many left. Can't all be fixed in one year.
Lotta guys said we are built to win now. I don't see that. I see they left holes on the roster, at TE, along the OL. They did their best to put together a functional competitive team, but there remains a lot of holes.
Good news is we still have 4 games to get better before the season starts.
Today we we were just evaluating the running game and the screen game and we will see a more aerial assault in preseason games to come with the running game in a support role. It's a new offense and they aren't going to start mixing it up until they know what really works in each phase of the game. Glad we got a W.
In every preseason game that I watch of other teams, I'm gonna keep my eye on the backups TEs. None of the guys out there tonight gave me much confidence.
The two teams that seem the most deep at TE are Detroit and Arizona
I see ALOT of opportunity in the tempo dept. seems as though a lot of confusion within new offense. Macado needs to clean himself up...he looks very sloppy(personal appearance) on sidelines. Williams IMO best player of the night.
What? Your handle is ct.fatboy. Clean yourself up fatty
To say let's just plug him in there wouldn't seem like the right move yet. He made some good plays, but lost some battles as well.
Also, not sure what everyone loved about Bromley. I thought Buffalo's offensive line easily handled him.
I really loved the way D Moore handled the rookie from Alabama, I was curious to see that matchup in the pre game, and Moore made him look bad.
Anyone else like what they saw from Dallas Reynolds at center? I thought he looked really solid out there.
Cannot wait to get OBJ out there, because Jernigan just always seems a bit belter skelter. He always looks like he taking a bad angle. The other backup receivers look pretty good out there, I hope to see more.
Really hope Fells makes it back, he seemed like the only tight end out there who could hold a block.
Behind John Carlson, Jake Ballard and maybe Troy Niklas. If he gets cut loose, we should pounce on him. Speedy TE, who can get open and make plays ATC. He's also still young
The talent deficiency up front is embarrassing on both sides of the ball now. Kiwanuka is useless at LDE and JPP was bad against a lazy rookie LT. Hankins looked good, Moore flashed and I assume Jenkins was in neutral b/c it was pre-season. This DL may be in trouble if JPP doesn't turn it on. The dropoff from Tuck to Kiwi is enormous.
Walton..blech, same for Brown and Mosley. Mosley is just plain bad and Pugh looked over-matched on more than one play. This is nowhere near a physical OL which I suppose is the point with this offense but that's a philosophy mismatch between TC and McAdoo that may be an issue. This team has been slow to start on offense and with the live hitting issue under TC so I'm not overly concerned yet. It's a new OL, new system and you have rust on Walton and a group that was planning on having Snee at RG and Beatty at LT so it will take time.
What concerns me is that Walton looked physically outmatched as did Mosley. After seeing John Jerry look positively disinterested I now see why Mosley is starting but that's a bad bad spot for this offense. Brown was dreadful on some plays, good on others, hopefully he's a backup and Beatty can regain his form.
Pluses - Jennings looked good, Hynoski looked healthy and energetic and Andre Williams looked like he may be the real deal at HB. Corey Washington and Marcus Harris did good things, Nassib looked much much more comfortable, Amukamara looks ready, Richburg was solid, Hankins and Moore look promising. CB depth is unreal on this team right now and Stevie Brown looked like his speed is there. Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox ran tough, the RB spot should be of no concern with Williams' performance and the backups running hard. Jernigan's catch over the middle was big after his early hiccup, he's plucking it like he did at the end of last year.
Let Downs - John Jerry, Mosley, Walton, Brown, Pugh, JPP, McClain, and John Conner. Conner looked like he was playing at half speed, nowhere near the thumper we had last year. I was very let down with how lethargic he played, it's clear why Hynoski is in the lead. Jayron Hosley needs to go, he's had enough time to do or be something and he was abused in a pre-season game and is facing a drug suspension. I'd be shocked if he's on the team when the final cut downs are in. Same with Jerry, he's just big, slow and lazy 0.0 for him. Mr. Reese had better be scanning the cuts this Summer for some OL help, we're gonna need it still.
will balance out the weaknesses up front on defense. Certainly seems like JPP and Kiwi should be flipped, with Moore playing the Osi 2011 role.
As for the OL, fingers crossed. Pugh had a tough night, but no worries with him. I think Richburg will earn a starting role somewhere and be solid. The others? Who knows. Beatty, Schwartz and Walton are all league average players. No blocking TE hurts us, too.
He didn't play much at all last season. A week in pads so far this year and this is one of the few times he's been able to go out and play against someone actively trying to beat him in the better part of, what, two years?
Everybody looked rusty. Way, way, way too early to be drawing conclusions just yet.
The first team ol did look very bad against Buffalo's 1st team defense
Yeah I know it's a pre-season game, & the first one @ that, but I didn't like what I saw from JPP. And for those who will say 'Come on! It's the pre-season. He's saving himself for the real lights" I answer "Nicks, Hakeem. 2013."
Even with rewinding plays, TV coverage just doesn't allow you to truly evaluate OL.
The first couple of series on O seemed to be very helter skelter with an emphasis on passing not really a great way for a new OL to get their feet wet. Yes I know it was against the second string but once they committed to the run and let the OL attack a little they seemed to start playing much better.
to consider was the formation/personnel group used in the first couple series. Motioning the TE to the backfield just didn't seem to be effective at all.Even considering who they were going against once HH was things just worked smoother
Ok first extra preseason game out of the way. Thank goodness we still have a month for the OL to Start to jell
Has better 2nd string O line than our 1st...
reese did ppor job not gettin Ot...and beatty is
highest paid oline and 3rd on team and is not
that good when healthy... we need 2 vets when cuts
come
but my impression was the OL got manhandled, which I expected, a new OL just put together , noty even in the final form, they need a crap load of reps, Richburg will eventually get on the starting line, Mosley was awful. Buffalo has a really good DL now
we need to put up a cast off TE once the cuts come
this offense should be fun, I noticed how the offense gets receivers open, lots of 1 on 1 situations, and we could screen? nice to see
Herzlich cant cover the TE, we could run outside a bit
The OL did not play well....it was the RB's and poor Buffalo defensive play that created the running game on that third drive...lot of work to be done here...Donnell's blocking was weak....
McClain is not Beason....JPP? No real effort....Hankins looked good and bad....Hosely did not play well at all...
Nassib looks ok when not pressured.....pressure him and he makes bad decisions...but he looks better than last year, so progress.....
Eli was not out there long enough to really assess him and this offense.....6/7 mainly on dunk passes...what do you expect? BBI will not like a dunk pass completion on 3rd down, that does not get a first down.....let's face it he was not really looking downfield, and only looking at Jernigan....of course, if he did look long downfield, I shudder to think what might have happened....
Does Adams look like Osi, or what? Just doesn't play like him....
at all strong at the point of attack until Buffalo started replacing players, and that includes BBI poster boy Pugh. Schwartz and RG (Mosley i guess) were pushed around. Didn't focus on Walton.
JPP looked like he was playing against a Hall of Fame LT. Hello...time to wake up, its a contract year.
I thought all the running backs looked good, and like Jennings ability to catch and go upfield too.
Overall defense got their hands on a lot of passes which was nice but I think that is more of a function of poor Bill QB play. need to turn those tips into more interceptions.
Jayron Hosley was getting picked on badly, like they purposely went after him. Somebody needs to instruct him what/where a goal line is...
I don't think it really matters how vets play in preseason, especially early. It's really the young guys you look at:
1. Williams. Showed great instincts and was tough to bring down.
2. Harris. Built upon his strong showing in camp.
3. Donnell. Missed a block. But looked a lot quicker on the field than I expected.
4. Walton. Looked like a legit center
Walton looked like a legit Center? I'll have to go back and watch the game again, because that's not what I saw... he was getting blown up. What I saw was the 2011 Walton... his last full season... when PFF ranked him as the WORST Center in the LEAGUE. But, he hasn't played in almost 2 seasons, so he's got some time to show improvement. But he ought to hear Weston Richburg breathing down his neck... Richburg's the Giants Center of the future... it's not a question of "if" but "when," and if JD doesn't step up his game big time, that when will come very soon.
It would be better for everyone if Walton just played better
Behind John Carlson, Jake Ballard and maybe Troy Niklas. If he gets cut loose, we should pounce on him. Speedy TE, who can get open and make plays ATC. He's also still young
won two SBs I would have said Nassib looked more natural in this new offense. Eli has a way of not looking too good and then whistling bullits down field and you have to take back your criticism. Marcus Harris looked like he belonged.
Jayron Hosley needs to play a lot better than tonight if he expects to have a job in another month.

Agree with that. The 4th round was because he supposedly can't catch passes. We'll see about that too.

this was against the buffalo bills, not even a great team D.
first team offense looked great vs second team defense but I doubt we will get many games vs second team units of the bills caliber.

Nobody really wants to experiment with Walton/Mosely/Jerry at RG.
saw some promising stuff out of the two young WRs Harris and Washington.
let's not look too much into this game please.
I don't know if this guy could cover Jake Ballard with the broken leg.
I'd take Ballard back too.
Holliday has to return soon. Harris had a nice game.
PS- Parker was pretty good with punt returns
