happy with tonight game. I was impressed with Andre Williams. The OL did okay and can build off it. Jennings looks slower than I originally remember when he played against us with the Raiders.
I like the dink and dunk nature of this offense. Eli 6/7 which is good to see. We very well could have thrown for a TD, and it could be 6/7 with 1 TD and the QB rating would be high. So I want to see more of this offense. I like the cut back runs by our RBs and we executed on screens. Connor ran the ball which I think may be our short yardage option.
JPP on defense worries me. I thought he would bitch slap a rookie tackle. He got held in check instead. Hankins flashed as well as Moore.
Good...Williams, Jennings, Hynoski, Hankins, Amukamara, DRC (never even looked his way), Moore (though he had some issues against the run), Wynn, Bromley, Adkins, Bowman (two penalties - one bogus - but tight coverage and INT), Marcus Harris, Corey Washington, Nassib, Michael Cox.
Bad...JPP, first-team OL against first-team defense, Hosley was dogshit, Hillis looked slow, 1st team WR's outside Jernigan invisible.
It was on the 3rd and 15 where Harris tried to make a one-handed grab for the first down. Fells was trailing the play in that zone and got leg whipped/kicked in the knee. The knee twisted badly. So, uh, I think it'll be up to Donnell (who had a catch, but looked awful in the firt series) and Robinson (who I saw have one catch, but miss a few blocks).
thank god I don't have to listen to that worm Collinsworth speak anymore, so fucking condescending to the Giants and Eli.
I thought that was an excellent showing, it felt like it was the first time I've watched the Giants play in 2years considering how bad last season was.
Yeah there needs to be improvements here and there, but overall I was impressed by a lot of the new and rookie players.
Andre Williams looks like he will quickly be a force, kid can really shake in b/w the tackles and runs with power, great vision. Bromley looked great although against 3rd and 4th stringers, Moore looked improved and hungry. Nassib looked very good IMO, some good decisions, and good throws. The DB's look very good with exception to Hosley. Whome I think Greg will finally be happy as it looks like this "hokie trash" will be the odd man out.
The O-line looks like it will need some time to gel, so I will hold off on any skeptical criticisms. The TE position needs some immediate help, Giants better be keeping there eye on the waiver wire, try and grab a cut from someone, anything has got to be better than what we have. Although Donnell did look alright, I just don't think he's any better than an average #2 TE.
On Defense, JPP concerned me getting shut down more or less by a 7th round rookie. I expected more from him. I admittedly didn't see that coming from him, and hope he gets it together, this team needs him. Cooper Taylor and Nat Berhe looked good, I like both of them more than Demps.
Marcus Harris and Corey Washington made their presences known. Adkins is a stretch to make the team but looked better than Keith Rivers last year. Charles Brown will get Eli killed if he has to see significant game time. Nassib threw some good balls. Nice to see Fells and Donnell find a way open. McManus is making the kicker competition serious. Hankins looked strong in the middle. Cooper Taylor's punt protection duties need to be reconsidered.
Thad Lewis looks like he seriously regressed for Buffalo. Maybe he just had a bad game, but he won games for the Bills last year. Today he looked lost against a basic defense ran by 2's and 3's.
He's a guy you plug right in. He should probably start at center but if Walton's decent enough, why not strengthen guard? It frightens me how much we need Beatty.
...plug Richburg with the 1s and roll with it. He's just cutting his teeth and he's orders of magnitude better than Mosley or Jerry.
Charles Brown was lousy.
Huh, even Pugh was bad. So it is early, in a new offense, 4 new starting guys on the line and about 8 new OLinemen. So it will take all summer to gel.
I'd give them a pass for two or three pre-season games.
Rb's off the edge: Williams and Jennings are fast..a lot more than recent past.. Giants secondary are like blankets on recievers (no matter what string was in there) and around the ball..no breakdowns in coverage...Also..for first preseason game..and only a couple weeks practice (which is limited these days) it was pretty crisp clean for most part penalty wise.
Eli..once grasped with new offense, as well as others on O, will excel in this scheme of offense. Could be interestingly good down the line from here.
I see ALOT of opportunity in the tempo dept. seems as though a lot of confusion within new offense. Macado needs to clean himself up...he looks very sloppy(personal appearance) on sidelines. Williams IMO best player of the night.
We need to see who else we have until Beatty returns or think about putting Pugh there
To be fair, Brown is a RT. If you plug him at LT....well, just ask Sean Payton how that'll go. Same goes for Brewer. Both guys are really RTs. We don't have a backup LT.

Are you serious with McAdoo's personal appearance? The guy's got long hair and facial hair, so what? If his offense puts up points, I don't care if he looks like Oscar the Grouch with coffee stains on his shirt.
First 2 drives looked like junk. The Offense, and Eli didnt get going till the running game got going, the passing game came after they had already established a ground game. I conted early on was 18 rushing attempts to 10 passes at one point. The running game didn't get going till they brought in and started to run behind the fullback, specifically hynosli. Looked to me like all good things started with Hynoski's blocking.Eli lookesd shaking till the ground game got established, then he settled down. The play he fumbled on you could see it coming, he was unsetlled from the snap on that play.
Marcus Harris looks like a keeper.OL was not impressive to me. Schwartz was not as advertised.Nor was Bromley.Even Pugh, who I like didn't overwhelm. The line late in the game was much worse, gave cox and gaskins nothing at all to work with. zip.
Nassib looked like a QB, no? I thought he looked OK.Kuhn, I am loathe to say, did not impress me. I thought in the time he was in, Bromley was more effective.
I said a week or so ago I believed that we would have no passing game earky in the season, that we would rely early on the running game and that it's vital we keep a FB to ensure at least that part of the game functions well. I stand by that. The TEs and all their gimmicks aren't there atm,and it's the RBs that are going to carry us early on.
Williams and Jennings looked good.Hillis looked like the #3 that he is.I see those first 3 spots kinda settled, after that, nothing.TEs were missing in action. Hosley looked ugly. All in all a clean game for a first preseason game, some things to build off of,though few starters seemed to make a mark.
Yeah, Nassib and Soup Harris seem to have good chemistry
Thumbs up - Andre Williams, Marcus Harris, Michael Cox (admittedly against Buffalo's 3rd teamers)
Thumbs down - Jayron Hosley, Adrian Robinson, G John Sullen (against Buffalo's 3rd teamers)
Executive Summary: Buffalo's first team defense stoned the GIANTS first team offense, no surprise considering where the G-men are with the new O.
Comments: The WR depth competition is wide open with several guys who look like they can contribute. The OL has a long way to go yet, and the depth there absolutely stinks. Is there a real TE on this team? The LBs had chances to make plays but generally didn't. Yet another Special Teams breakdown by two veterans - no rookie excuses there.

Nah, he's right, I was kinda thinking it myself he looks like a slob.

and if he is a slob, how does that affect his offensive play calling? If he trims up his beard and hair and wears a suit, is that going to make our OL block better?
Ralph Vacchiano @RVacchianoNYDN 4m
Nice poise showed by Tom Coughlin at rare outdoor press conference with Bills fans screaming not-so-nice stuff at him a few feet away.

It doesn't. It's not really a big deal, but it's still, like, representing in a shabby way.it's aesthetically unapealling in a relatively young man on a televised sport where people look at him. Seriously, it looked like the Walrus put more time into his appearance than MacAdoo. Not saying being a slob makes one a bad coach. Just makes one a slob. Just isn't necessary.Says to the world "I didn't put much preparation into this", which is not a good look in an OC.
Our secondary looked a little suspect, but we had guys out with injuries.
Disappointed in Schwartz
get Odell in line up...hope Wilson is healthy...but we have enough at RB....OL needs to gel....offense can hum
defense has enough to make it tough to score
like the new kicker....his 47 would have been good from 57....

And Hosley sucks. first cut.
Mostly I'm just glad they seem to have come out of this one healthy and hopeful that they won't be foolish enough to carry 3 QBs this year.

He's vying for starting job.

Richburg did look good, however, you have to consider who he was playing against too.
He's vying for starting job.
He has a sprained knee from the ESPN update I received.

Injury to Daniel Fells - knee - could be serious.

Sprained knee is code for "wait for the MRI that may or may not reveal a torn ligament"
The offense did their damage against the Buffalo second stringers.
JPP looks like he hardly even exerting himself out there.
We need to see who else we have until Beatty returns or think about putting Pugh there

1. Williams. Showed great instincts and was tough to bring down.
2. Harris. Built upon his strong showing in camp.
3. Donnell. Missed a block. But looked a lot quicker on the field than I expected.
4. Walton. Looked like a legit center

Jayron Hosley needs to play a lot better than tonight if he expects to have a job in another month.

Agree with that. The 4th round was because he supposedly can't catch passes. We'll see about that too.
