if he's getting hurt running into someone's back, it was just a matter of time before he took a helmet to helmet and something much more serious happened.
Garafolo seems to think it's still not determined how long, so why would there be an injury settlement?
Mike Garafolo @MikeGarafolo 3m
No, that's TBD still, I'm told. But short term, he won't be playing. RT @justin_pelazza: does this mean he will never play again?
Breaking: Source. Giants doctors are shutting down RB David Wilson due to the neck injury that he sustained last year and most recently in camp. There is a belief that the injury could be career ending.
to radically accept that he is never going to be an NFL player, the sooner he will come to find another career that might still keep him around the sport he loves.
I feel bad for him(and for all the potential he had for the team) at least he got a nice paycheck to start his life after football.Hope he handled it wisely.
Wish him the best in the future.
could have been the best thing that ever happened to him. Clearly there was still an issue with his neck post-surgery and I shudder to think what a violent hit might have done to the kid had that warning not surfaced.
he's shut down for this year and will probably go through the steps Peyton did, which is what should have happened from the start.
I never blame the Giants FO for anything, but they majorly fucked this up.
I'm of the opinion that it should be impossible to clear a guy less than 6 months after FUSION surgery. I am no Dr., but I know a few in the sports medicine field. His "recovery" was ridiculously fast.
The Giants should have found a way to IR him, or at the very least PUP him. Not sure what is within the rules, but no one getting fusions surgery should be taking head shots in less than 6 months post-op. Its fucking stupid.

I did not know that his surgeon is a "Giants doctor."
"Shut down" is so vague. For how long? Why?
The lack of clear reporting is so frustrating, mostly because the understanding of the reporters is on the level of "he has a neck injury, he might he paralyzed, he must retire." Plenty of players have come back from serious neck injuries. Lets get some reporting that gets to the bottom of why this is or is not different.

Best of luck to him. He has his health.
Good point.
There is so much more to learn. Wilson went down in a non-contact drill. Clearly he never should have had a full clearance
the final call on what procedure he went ahead with (and the including post-op protocol specific to that procedure) was ultimately on Wilson to make. It's very likely he didn't want "the Peyton" route, even after being fully educated -- far more than any of us on this board -- on all his options.
It sucks the guy's career is pretty much over regardless.
I doubt he ever plays again. Very sad for the young man.
Giants likely to add Wilson to IR and then try to reach an injury settlement, unless they can rach an injury settlement first.

you can scratch it no matter what, he's not eligible for PUP
Get back to becoming an olympic sprinter David.
Football can be cruel...what a wasted talent and a damn 1st RD pick too !
Wish him the best in the future.

Asked league source if Giants RB David Wilson's career is over because of latest neck injury. His response: "Most likely."
Best of luck to him. He has his health.
This is sad. Nobody fucked anything up
Seems like a great young man also

Damn our bad luck as well... Chad Jones and now Wilson. Picks that we will never see reach any kind of potential.

Sending all the best
To be even clearer, RB David Wilson's season is done w/ the #Giants this season. There is a fear his neck injuries cd be career threatening.

He isn't eligible for PUP, but that's really irrelevant, because even if he was, he shouldn't play again anyway.
He will go to IR, and be released after the year.
Good luck David.
