has hardly been on the field, a rookie nonetheless, hasn't even gotten his feet wet to NFL pace of play, and is making proclamations about the offense. I've seen him play at the college and if it translates to the pro game look out. However, I think it better he let's his play do the talking. At least for the time being.
We all know Tom is not happy he hasn't been able to participate and somehow I think Tom, while he may like the kid has confidence of his convictions, would like to see something more and whole lot of it before the kid takes to soothsaying.
There's enough pressure so as it is installing a new offense with a first time OC and the added pressure that comes with high expectations after a dismal previous season. The first thing I thought of was Vince Young referring to the Eagles as the dream team and it all went downhill from there.
I agree this isn't quite in that category but talk about adding to the pressure. If I'm a veteran I'm telling the kid to shut up and play. Earn your stripes and then if you feel the need to talk you earned the right.
When a rookie WR who hasn't even practiced is yapping then it's time to take action.
Please.. get over it..
So don't be confident, be invisible
This isn't the bulletin board material you're looking for
starters
Most of what you read/hear, is absolutely nothing and blows over quickly, UNLESS it's ongoing..
I love a little talking and boastfulness. I remember when Plaxico predicted a NY Giants win in SB 43 and Tom Brady laughed at it. They both talk, neither was wrong in doing so, but maybe that lit a little fire inside the Giants defense that day. Nothing wrong with confidence.
Discipline him.
And if I get to choose whom I want to shut up, I will pay extra.
That's such an awful way to root for a team. I'm happy these guys are confident. As long as they aren't calling other players out or taking trash-talking to Twitter, i'm fine with it. The entire team isn't going to go mute, it never has, and it never will.
It was disgusting and shameful. Just look at this.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- No one has watched the New York Giants' offense more than first-round draft pick Odell Beckham Jr., who's been watching practice from the sidelines since pulling his hamstring on the first day of camp. And what Beckham has seen so far has him extremely optimistic.
"It has potential to be, if not the best, one of the best in the league," Beckham said before Giants practice Tuesday. "When you have a receiving corps like we do and a great quarterback along with the backfield and the tight ends and much improvement from the offensive line, I don't see anything but being one of the best in the league."
Film at 11!
Same old same old.
He really meant that the tight ends are "great?" Ummmm...OK.
Some of you guys overreact about any little thing.
And any of you thinking this is Bulletin Board Material, let me point out that Beckham mentioned our Tight Ends in his comment so you know nobody is taking this too seriously...

Damn, we've beaten the Patriots 3 times in the Superbowl:-) 42
we really need this pick to pan out. I believe with his mom being an olympian sprinter and his dad being an athlete means he has it in the genes , we just need him to be a playmaker. We actually need him to workout big time. we selected him just for this new offense and for Eli to have another burner then just Cruz.
I am a little worried how I am reading that Brandin Cooks is looking like a steal in N.O. and Benjamin is becoming a go to guy.
We cant afford to miss on the 12th overall pick. We already lost David Wilson(1st Rd) our safety for "years to come' Kenny Phillips(1st RD) wished he had panned out alot longer then he did. Clint Sintim (early 2nd) was a bust.
We need Beckham to show something the last 2 preseason games. I hope hes adjusting to the new offense, or rather learning the offense while he sits. We need him starting with Detroit. McAdoo is obviously showing vanilla schemes for other teams film(everyone is over-reacting like the media is, the Giants dont want to show their whole offense away to go on film) It will be so much harder to game plan against.
Also what is up with Mario Manningham? The Giants FO knew it would take awhile and still signed him. Marcus Harris and Corey Washington look hungry and deserving of a roster spot. That would mean Mario is cut. Why would the Giants sign him if they knew he wouldnt be 100 percent until mid-September?
I wish HArris and Washington played better on specials. Washington has the length to block punts with DaMonster.
Anyway, we need Odell Beckham to be a game changer for us. A 12th overall pick at WR must make an impact. Keenan Allen did it for SD last year as a rookie. DeAndre Hopkins did it for Houston. I think he has big time playmaking ability but he needs to get on the field.
A healthy Beckham will do good things for the Giants and Eli Manning if he can stay on the field. I hope hes not a china doll. Nothing in college seemed to indicate that. Once hes 100 percent with speed, he needs to take extra reps with Eli throwing to him. we saw last year what an offseason of not throwing and catching can do to a QB-WR combo. Eli was way off sync with Cruz(holdout) and Randle(mental mistakes) bc he didnt have much time to throw to them in training camp bc of the bargaining agreement that prevented teams from practicing like evry other year. And Eli was off. He needs to have Odell out there with the 1's running routes so Eli can trust him when it counts.

They're not really invested in Manningham. They took a flier on him coming back 100%.
Three months ago this team wasn't exactly well stocked at WR.
What team is he watching from the sidelines? TE's? OL play?
Outside of Jernigan, has Eli completed a pass to a wr?
