NGT: Jets took Fireman Ed out to lunch to woo him back

Everyone's favorite former Dolphin and now former Jets fan, Fireman Ed Anzalone, was apparently taken out to lunch by Jets brass in April in a desperate effort to woo him back to leading his signature cheer in the soulless bowels of MetLife Stadium. If you recall, Ed relinquished his Jets post at halftime of the infamous Buttfumble game against the Patriots. For nearly 30 years the Miami Dolphins, the former benefactor of Ed's fandom, have held off on negotiating his renewed support so history tells us that this standoff may linger for quite a while.

Anzalone, who was previously implicated for assaulting a Giants fan, felt that a return to his former post would cause undue negative duress to himself and his children as they try to enjoy the game day experience. Well, undue in excess of the inherent duress he's caused himself and his children by becoming Jets fans, clamoring for media attention, physically assaulting opposing fans, shouting crude comments in a public forum...and so forth.

So BBI, don't count on seeing your favorite fireman dust off his trusted #6 jersey anytime soon to prove once again that he can spell the name of his favorite football team.

Yea, I remembered rumblings on BBI that Ed had some issues with his disability claim but I couldn't dig anything up last night and didn't want to disparage a fireman without a source in the OP. But I got the same vibe that you did; Ed was happy to bask in the attention until his true character began to reveal.

Fireman Jerkoff talked at their pep rally outside the stadium in January 2011 before one of the jets playoff games ..He took shots at the giants and giants fans .The guy is a real piece of crap .Captain jet is actually a very nice guy and hates Fireman Jerkoff and i think alot of jets fans do

The Giants are no exception. But it is a whole different ball game for a team to beg individual fans to come to games because otherwise they have no identity other than losing.

Despite all the efforts of the Jaguars, there can really be no doubt that the Jets are the most pathetic franchise in the NFL.

Maybe some completely unwarranted boasting from the coach or the owner is needed here? Or just maybe they should just start playing down there so-called "rivalries" with the Gianst and Patriots and focus on someone of their stature - the Bills or Dolphins.
