So last year's 5th round pick, Cooper Taylor (who's been spending considerable time with the ones) is on the bubble, but this year's 5th round pick, Nat Berhe (who hasn't) is a lock?
in that group and the Giants don't like to cut picks. So we'll have to see. I don't know why Robinson was singled out, all of the TEs could be on that list.
Cooper Taylor, Adrien Robinson and Ryan Nassib are not on the bubble.
He should have shortened the list to 9 or 10. How about Charles Brown or James Brewer? Both of those guys are't going to be on the roster....I think Brown is on the bubble big time.
The suspension of Hosley and Herman kind of "help" them

I think Robinson is definitely on the bubble and I hope either Nassib or Painter is on there as well
Jernigan too. Not having a good camp. Failed as a punt returner
albeit Robinson been a disappointment thus far, they're not going to cut a 4th round draft pick in his 1st full year of being healthy. And we need as many TE's as possible.
Jordan Ranaan article...

Not sure I agree with several on his list or many of his comments.
Cox or Gaskins has to make it and we may even have both. And based on his comments, Gaskins isn't even on the bubble. Nat Berhe is a lock? No mention of Holliday or JJ? No DTs on the bubble? I would think Washington or Harris has to make it too and actually deserve it as of today.
Jordan - what's up man? Maybe you needed to write this on Monday.

It's possible that he doesn't even make the team because of too many mental mistakes and drops. Still like his chances though. He's the best receiving TE on the roster.
being on the bubble. He's been very active in the two preseason games. He made that glaring ST blocking mistake but with his size and speed should be very effective on specials. Has anyone been able to zero in on his ST play?
Andy said that this is his first full year of being healthy
guys - there is still 3 preseason games left.
I'm saying this is the 1st time he's been healthy....yes he appears to possibly suck....but I can't see them giving up on him yet.
Makes the list of predominantly late round draft picks and undrafted free agents with some vets sprinkled in. Here's my list of 'vets' who are in jeopardy.
- Herzlich isn't a good linebacker and was one of the better special teamers on a bad special teams unit. I would expect Kennard to be better. I also think Taylor would be an improvement and the corner that they got from the Bears. If Beason is healthy for game one, I think he is gone and they can go with 5 with 3 safety looks which they like better and Kiwi in an emergency situation.
- Manninghan isn't on the bubble. He isn't competing right now. If he is unhealthy but getting healthier they may go with less wide recievers and hope he is around later.
- Patterson. I think he and Idonyja are fighting it out. If Kuhn has passed Paterson on the depth chart, I think they go with Idonyha as he can rush the passer better and play specials (could also help push Herzelich out the door).
- Josh Brown. It is hard to cut the potential of the strong legged and much younger kicker.
- Holsey - as it was said. They should just get rid of him now. No need to retain him during his suspension. There are better players out there.
- Charles Brown/James Brewer - We have some interior depth and Schwartz is the better option at RT in an emergency. Unless they both really start showing things, only one will make it as the back up to Beatty.
- Nassib/Painter - still not convinced Nassib is going to lose the job to Painter. I think it may just be a matter of getting Painter reps in the event that they need to call him during the year.
He sucks, and he has a suspension hanging over his head. Bye.
Cooper Taylor has looked pretty good aside from that blown block on the punt team.
Don't know what Charles Brown is supposed to bring to the table. He's just plain bad. Brewer's no prize but I'd much rather see him on the roster than Brown.
I would prefer to see Herzlich gone, but his special teams play make him a tough call. He's useless at LB though.
He lost all credibility putting Cooper Taylor on that list
Cooper Taylor is cut. Some may say he's fourth on the depth chart but I think he'll be #3 despite Demps's return ability. Even if he was fourth, the three ahead of him are free agents after this year. Cooper has two years left and by next year I think he'll be one of the starters. I'm very high on him. I can live with the other 11 but that's a bad call by Jordan
I think both Washington and Harris are better than 50/50 to make it and Jernigan a more likely cut though he'll probably make it too. None of the others mentioned are a surprise and could have been on this list at the start of camp.
I guess the suspension actually works in his favor and buys him some time for injuries to happen
Agree, totally. Hosley would almost certainly be cut if not for the suspension. It really does buy him an extra month for an injury to occur. Weird how it ended up being a positive for him.
RE: Jernigan too. Not having a good camp. Failed as a punt returner
Because he's not. His final month of 2013 bought him a spot on this team, almost entirely regardless of how his 2014 camp would go. No way he gets cut, or at the very least the chances are so slim that it would be disingenuous to characterize him as "on the bubble."
RE: He lost all credibility putting Cooper Taylor on that list
others have said, not a good article. Don't see Taylor or Nassib on the bubble. Robinsion? Maybe. But as others have noted, the Giants don't like to give up on draft picks, and it isn't as if the other TEs are all doing spectacularly well.
that is also speculating that Nassib's roster spot may be in jeopady; especially if the Giants decide to go with only 2 QBs. I think it would be a tough cut after only one season on the team; epecially when you consider they traded down to get him, and QBs typically take a couple years to develop. CBS Sports - ( New Window )
as Reese has said, Berhe is an under-sized Safety. Taylor is bigger, faster, quicker, more athletic and more explosive than Berhe and Taylor is proably the biggest Safety in the NFL. Both Taylor and Berhe are 5th Round picks.
Gaskins is SLOW, both in the 10 and 40 yds. distances. Cox is much faster and quicker than Gaskins.
Charles James I like but he's a little guy. Bennett Jackson is bigger and faster. Chandler Fenner is much bigger than James, just as fast in 10 yds. and almost as fast in 40 yds. IMO we keep 6 CBs and assuming McBride is healthy, the top 5 are: Prince, DRC, Thurmond, Bowman and McBride. So, Hosley, James, Jackson and Fenner are competing for the 6th CB position. Nice problem to have.
Manningham and Jernigan do not make this team. Manningham's knee is not right. So I see both Soups and Washington making the team. They both deserve it though I would prefer Washington over Harris.
RE: He lost all credibility putting Cooper Taylor on that list
Guy is a very good football player with great safety insticts. Hits hard, good tackler, closes fast, reacts well.
You may think I'm crazy, but I see him as a starting safety some day.
Lot of criticism on the inclusion of Cooper Taylor. Let me just ask everyone this: Why is Taylor behind a career journeyman like Quintin Demps (which he clearly is) in the safety rotation if he is so good?
Anyway, thanks for reading and look in the comments section here for my full line of thinking about putting Cooper Taylor on the list.

if it was cut and dry they would call it something more permanent

How do you know he will be healthy all year?
And now that the injury excuse is gone, he has produced nothing.
I think its time to cut bait...
This does not bode well.

You are neither crazy or wrong. Taylor is a lock. I think he could start now although the extra year with Rolle won't hurt.JMHO.
