Hakeem Nicks...

SanFranGiantsFan : 8/16/2014 9:12 pm
Thank you Hakeem for showing more enthusiasm & excitement in an exhibition game this August than you did all of 2013. Again, thank you. Slow clap.
You're Welcome

what Nicks does going forward. He laid down like a dog and quit on us last year. He played himself right off the team. There was no way TC could take him back.
Great post.

shat the bed last year big time, but he was always one of my favorite players. I really liked that kid, and only wish him the best. Seeing him play tonight compared to our shit show....really hurt. Kid made a bad business decision last year, but he will never be hated like Tiki (at least by me)
His taunting of our DB's witht the bye-bye wave was tacky

witch hunt. If enough people start saying that Nicks quit on the giants last year then it must be true. Look at the guy who was throwing passes to him last year and the kind of passes they were. Manning completed two passes in the last two games. Management hurt Manning most by taking away one of his best weapons.

Every other player playing out his contract year tries to put up his best numbers but Nicks decided to put up his worst numbers. And everyone believes that? Nicks had no trouble winning the third WR spot on the Colts. But the guy on the Giants throwing him the passes last year is still in a major crisis.

Carl Banks was even chuckling when he commented on what Nicks had shown the Giants. Banks knew it was just a herd mentality making false accusations. Nicks will still be a starting receiver when Manning is looking for a back-up job. Good luck, Eli, with Randle and Manningham and that rookie who hasn't played yet.

The Giants had one of the top three downfield passing games in the NFL at the end of the 2011 season with Manning, Nicks, Cruz and Manningham. And now it's totally gone, not because of Manning or Nicks but because Reese was busy drafting Wilson instead of blockers for Manning.

and there is no question about that. He would get hurt at the slightest thing. He has a ton of talent but letting him walk was the right move because I firmly believe that he hasn't got a 16 game season in him anymore.

Yeah he really looked like he was going all out...But lets blame the QB who won us two SB's instead...because it is always more important to us fans to look like we know what the fuck we are talking about on BBI...That makes us individuals feel important when we spin it that way

Sure Manning had a really awful season, but dont forget how many catches Nicks dropped as well. He was also fined multiple times last season for being late to meetings and treatments. Its pretty clear that for whatever reason his relationship with the team had soured before the season started and he let it affect his attitude and play. There are plenty of players in the league that spend their entire career on horrible teams, but they still show up on Sunday. Maybe the circumstances werent perfect for Nicks to have a big season but thats no excuse for him not to show up for his teammates and give it his best.

He showed himself to be fairly selfish last season. He didnt make a lot of waves like Plax or Shockey, but he seemed to internalize all of his frustrations and mope around like a child (more childish behavior which he displayed last night). Hope he has a great career with the Colts and that he finally grows up in the process.

that Hakeem would be looking forward to this game......he wanted to rub it in our faces, he did, and he also got a flag for it....Rolle missed a tackle on him.....JW trying to cover him?

He had an agenda.....the Giants were not trying to stop HK....one game....exhibition game....it's a long season....

As for our vaunted secondary, with no pass rush, a good passing team will score against it....it happened last year...it will happen this year too.....has everyone forgotten who the DC is?
Nicks absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt...
Britt in VA : 8/17/2014 8:56 am : link
laid down like a complete dog last year. I don't know how anybody could see that differently.

As for Eli? He was still chucking them up to Nicks, trying to get him TD's whenever he was in one on one coverage, especially the Seattle game late in the season, despite the fact that Nicks was hanging him out to dry with lackluster effort, and the picks were adding up.

0 TD's last year. ZERO.

Also, after an 0-6 start, the Giants somehow crawl back into the division race, and face a pivitol game against the Cowboys. Nicks skips meetings and gets benched.

The interest from other teams in Nicks as a Free Agent, as well as the contract he ultimately got from the Colts, shows you all you need to know.

Last year was 100% a lack of effort issue for Nicks, you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Your right he was open all the time and never dropped any passes. F-Him he quit on the team and I could care less because it cost him lots of money. I root for the front of the Jersey not the back and that goes for Manning as well.
What sucks about this whole Nicks thing is everything.

If he had stayed, we could have spent the #1 on an OL which is what Eli really needs now. Plus I like Nicks' attitude, playing demeanor. He was a good player.

this is one of the more mind boggling football posts I've read here. anyone who had their eyes open last season could see that Nicks wasn't playing hard, not fighting for contested catches, not running hard, always nursing some nagging injury or another.

and that is cause to defend Nicks and ridicule our GM and QB?

very strange take.
It's not a strange take...

with us and he never taunted like that, and against us last night he did that. I liked what he did for us in 2011, but I never seen a player, in his contract year, suck like he did last season.
I looked for every excuse in the book for him last year.

One of my all time favorite Giants. But anyone that is defending him and thinks for a single second that he was going 100% last year! from day one! is freaking clueless, or didn't bother to pay attention.

look like a clown. He reminded me of Roy Williams with his first down celebrations. It's a preseason game. Hopefully the defense remembers his routine and gets a few good hits on him if he's not injured when the Colts play the Giants.

first the post that "Nicks will be a starter
bc4life : 8/18/2014 7:25 am : link
when Manning is looking for a job as backup" - pretty stupid.

Nicks didn't play well and based on the last few years with only so much money to spend - it made sense to let him go. Sometimes it's best for both parties to move on.

Nicks basically said he got caught up in the moment. He was a great Giants for most of his time here and left on a sour note. Nicks' wave is the least of Giants' worries.

That being said, I can completely understand why Nicks would be fired up to play the Giants and to "stick it to them", I know I would. The Giants flat out didn't want him, not even for a 1 year minimal deal. I agree with the Giants, I wouldn't want him either, but it's motivation to Nicks. Any good player would feel the same way.

OK, start naming the games and plays that Nicks laid down on. I think he took himself out of a game for one play. And I think two times he was accused of giving up on two catchable balls by Manning. What else do you know? What are your qualifications. Did you break down the game film every week. Has any coach or teammate accused Nicks of dogging it last year, even after he left the team.

You see what you want to see.

What I see is Nicks easily winning the number three receiver job.
This was the best thing that could have happened for Nicks.

He escaped a declining Manning and Giants team and went to the ascending Luck and Ravens.

Can't understand why so many here constantly side with the management over the players.

Nicks found Coughlin after the game, shook his hand, and wished him good luck. Coughlin is going to need it.

The number three reciever job? Whoopty doo. For a talent like Nicks, the number three reciever job is underachieving, which sums up his entire last season with the Giants. Thanks for making my point for me.
