1) Long sustained drives - None.
2) Cruz/Randle involvement - Cruz constantly covered. Only ball he caught, he either fumbled/dropped. Randle - nothing.
3) DL pass rush - unless we blitzed, nothing.
Earlier in the offseason, I wrote that in order for this team to succeed the biggest 3 guys who had to step up were Eli, Cruz, and JPP.
Eli had two awful throws. One INT that was negated by a penalty and an overthrow that was almost intercepted.
Cruz cannot get open, and the one time he did, he dropped it.
JPP words are louder than his actions.
Our OL is still a disaster. Pugh was absolutely wretched in the first half. We got 0 push. Eli was again constantly pressured. The quick passing attack has yet to be seen or applied. Randle is a non factor. Jerrigan has been mediocre. Eli's throws are not crisp or in rhythm with anything.
I know its preseason, and I know we havent showed anything, but its pretty clear we may look like a bottom 3 defense at least to start the season.
I'd be very interested to see the last time someone hung 27 points on an opponent in the 4th quarter to win a game.If I recall the largest comeback margin in history was 28 points.
third stringers beat their third stringers, almost as badly as their first stringers beat our first stringers.
The question is whether our third stringers should really be third stringers.
Nassib was excellent. It was against scrubs, and it does still look like he stares down receivers, but he threw some accurate lasers, especially the two to Robinson, and the pass to Harvey on the goal line. He is also mobile. Cox, Washington, and Harris also played well.
Can't say much for the first string, and Quarles was a penalty machine. Also, lots of injuries. Hope none are serious.

I thought we got some pressure (not much) without blitzing, Luck just either shook it off or moved away from it.
My main concern about the defense is how poor the supposedly "dominant" cb unit looked when Prince left. Thurmond didn't perform well at all.
The 1st and 2nd string offense was just a shit show.
By harris to kickstart eveything.
I think the coaches need to consider keeping both Harris and washington. If they are convinced this is a "win now" team then maybe not. I think these 2 show great promise and we should hang onto them. This doesn't look like a superbowl team, and in fact the 2 best WRs right now are Harris and washington.
he is a huge man and will be extremely difficult to cover in the end zone. Tonight he showed the ability to go up and get the ball with a defender all over him.
Corey Washington needs to be on this team. I really want to see what Eli can do with him.
O-Line needs to play better. O-Line is the one thing I think there is absolutely no excuse for during preseason. If they are shitty now they will most likely be shitty during regular season. Silver lining is that this shitty O-Line is definitely better than last year's shittier O-Line.
Our first team O looked just awful. I know it's all vanilla right now, but basic fundamentals are lacking: when you average 3 ypc in your running game and complete 11% of your passes, you've got trouble on your hands.
BUT, it looks like we have some depth on this team. If someone goes down, we have guys who can step in and contribute, and at many positions. OL, TE, and LB worry me, though.
Getting a sneaking suspicion that Eli Manning is not the right fit for this offense.
A) The comeback (by players who will be on the street shortly)
B) who are 7th WR is going to be (because no one is getting separation)
Bottom line out O needs serious work. I'm not going to say the suck (but they sucked tonight). If this continues problems like in double diget losses. TC its time to crack heads.
1) Robinson gets stood up and pushed back by scrubs.
2) Richberg is versatile.
3) Our O-line will be a little better than last year's unless we get injured.
4) We need Odell - or somebody - to help Cruz.
5) Our D will keep us in games.
6) The Colts are a pretty good team.
7) Luck and his backups are good at running the offense we're trying to run.
it is nice to see our 3rd and 4th stringers bailed out the team
will probably play almost 3 quarters next week, and will be paying a decent Jets team. They need serious work. What's going on with Eli? Maybe he just is not suited for this O?! I guess we have to at least give him a few regular season games before we call Eli unsuited for this O., but out me down as one of the concerned.
Preseason Football was private. seriously. People get bent out of shape over games that mean nothing and have ZERO game planning. There are things that need work and that is what preseason is meant to expose, it is meant to see what works and what doesn't. In a new offense, lots of things are going to fail and/or need extra work before the regular season starts, I assure you that the majority of what we see from the ones is simple technique and footwork stuff to get them using new things they are learning in practice at game speed. the twos and threes are playing for roster spots. the ones really have nothing to prove in preseason. Those that do get their time to shine, like the running backs last week. I am really loving the talent on this team and I think the squad will surprise a lot of people come september. I love the fact that we are more uptempo than we have ever been. that 2 minute drill at the end was a nice preview of what we can expect.
Was passed from strahan to Osi to Tuck, the timing of each passing was great. From tuck to jpp, not as fortunate. But in JPP defense, he is the only stud DE.
Carl from CT if Washington, Harris and Nassib are cut...Mara should
You people are CrAzY!!! These players are playing against 3rd stringers most of which will be home watching the games like you in Sept... Relax Eli never plays well in the preseason... We will be fine, love our running backs..
Eli got hit on 2 of his first 3 pass attempts and people here want to
say he had time to throw. Okay. It's no surprise that Eli's only nice play in 3 games involved 1 WR, 4 TEs and RBs, and what appeared to be just 2 men in the pattern. I don't care what offense they're playing... if there's no pass protection, the offense will be a mess. If there's no running game, the offense will be a mess.
The Giants defense needs to work on something called CONTAINMENT. The complete lack of it was the main reason for almost every decent Colts drive in the game. Thurmond & McBride made me wonder if Hosley was just switching uniforms.
Punt defense could use some extra work on CONTAINMENT too.
Never has a team needed 5 preseason games more than the Giants do.
I hope that put Nassib back in the 2 position.
Thats about it
Hopefully it's not something that lingers and a week or so of rest is enough for him to get back at it.

2nd and 3rd stringers won every game...
I think that means 1st string has a problem....
could be just eli....
I guess Strahan never got that opportunity to teach him something other than a bull rush. He's probably too busy with life now.
The question is whether our third stringers should really be third stringers.

or play him 4th qtr...to see if its eli...
better to know now...
Hand Painter a clip board and tell him we will call him during the season if we need to. Nobody will pick him up.
Corey Washington needs to be on this team. I really want to see what Eli can do with him.

Randle better start producing
Everyone should resign themselves to the fact that it could be a while before the offense starts hitting on all cylinders.
Finally, this defense is looking very good and will be even better when Beason returns.

Giants got good pressure on Luck and broke that pocket. He was elusive and rolled out.<shrugs>
