the sesamoid bone in the foot/toe is a slow healing injury, mainly due to the fact that blood flow in worse in these bones than most others in the body.
week injury do they keep him on the active roster or IR him. He would miss 1 to 3 games if it a 4 to 6 week injury. That would definitely mean 2 QBs because they would have to carry an extra defensive back.
but googled sesamoid bone injury. Boy this could be relatively minor or very serious. Need a lot more info and time to make even an educated guess. I guess the proof will be in what the Giants do with him IR,cut, etc.
more than the won/loss record, and even if the starting unit looks bad running basic plays, the most important part of the pre-season is coming out of it as healthy as possible.
Taylor's injury hurts more this year because he was going to start picking up some of the slack from Will Hill's departure, and the Giants have been bringing Stevie Brown along slowly. Taylor has looked good so far this pre-season. I wonder if the Giants would possibly consider putting him on short term IR if he will be out for a long time or if they don't feel he is relevant enough to do so and wait for a more significant player to potentially go down.
As for Prince, he always seem to have some kind of nagging injury. Let's hope that he can be ready for Detroit. I don't care if he doesn't play the rest of the pre-season.
is active, getting pressure and is pursuing, all the things he didn't do with the Giants
Whatever Austin does, he had to be cut. It was a mistake to draft him, not cut him. If he succeeds, he'll just be one of many players who suddenly get serious about producing when they know they are down to their last chance. Remember that several other teams had him, or at least checked him out after we cut him, and before he ended up in Denver.
there are no other options at LT with Brown out. Brewer has to play LT.
Agreed. I would say Brewer regressed last night, but it wasn't a disaster. He allowed a pressure and had a penalty in the first half. In the second, the UDFA Zack Kerr pushed him right back into Painter on one play, but it was negated by a penalty IIRC. He also seemed to get beat on a quick inside move on at least one other play.
But I also saw him wall off defenders well on most pass plays, especially those who went outside to his left. He also moved the pile on running plays to his side, and hit the second level a few times.
Right now his main attribute is that he's better, or at least less bad than Brown, especially now that Brown is injured. Brewer will therefore make the team by default. If you want to say that is proof our OL sucks, I'm probably with you, but there it is.

He's not getting cut; that's ridiculous. IR, however, could be a way to solve some of the logjams at other positions. We'll see just how serious it is and then speculate more.

Matt: The silver lining here may be that Berhe will now get more looks. If he passes muster (and lives up to his rep of being a "missile", maybe we benefit.
And fractured the sesamoid bone in his left big toe. It's a slow healing bone, and he couldn't do anything for 10 weeks, took 16 weeks to really get back on the court.
This defense needs him badly! Mcbride was a mess last night, did not look like starting material at all.. Got abused bad by Nicks. We need to look at some of these other Cb's like Bowman, or James.
No doubt poor choice of words there. Meant to show the point it could be a couple of weeks if it's a minor turf toe to much longer (IRed) if fractured. The first prudent treatment regardless of severity of injury appears to a boot and crutches until further diagnosis can be made.
I really shouldve been concerned when McAdoo said we simply needed to take a leap of faith. But this game vs Colts made us look exactly like the 0-6 team and not the 9-7 one.
Looked like he was about to contribute in meaningful ways. If the prognosis is 4 to 6 weeks or more, he's on the cusp of losing his season. Not likely to use our one and only IR roster exception for an unproven player.
And no matter how much you like his upside you probably don't keep him on the 53 and make him one of seven inactives each week unless you are very sure about his return timetable.
and Behre has to stop leading with his head on hits or he will be concussed and out of the league soon. He can otherwise be a damn good player, as good as Hill.
Sorry for sounding callus, but Taylor appears to be another one of Reese's "swing for the fences" picks with an injury history that just can't stay on the field.
CB Prince Amukamara "will have" an MRI, Coughlin said. He said he's "concerned", and that Amukamara is "sore".
Markus Kuhn had a hyperextended elbow. Coughlin seems to think he can deal with it.
Coughlin said he expects Prince Amukamara to go for an MRI. I'm hearing Prince felt same today, no worse, no better. Will see doc Monday

Tom Coughlin sums up the Giants' mess: "There's not enough plays being made by our starters on the offensive or defensive side of the ball."
Do players feel Coughlin's urgency to get the offense going by Friday night against the Jets? "They better," he said ...
Really congratulations to Brewer. To be able to be such a terrible football player and yet stay on an NFL roster for 4 years is impressive.

could be need actual timeframe on injury before making that call hopefully they know more by next weekend

I am tight with a podiatrist who handles lots of sports injuries.

it's ok to take these kind of risks in the later rounds, so nobody should be ripping reese for this.

But I would say 8 to 12 weeks.

Reese is awful

If Taylor is 12-14 weeks (a la Beason), I don't see how you can keep him. He has to be IR'd.
If Prince's injury is serious, we're screwed because Thurmond looked awful on the outside. Not that he hasn't looked awful everywhere.
