every Rocky sequel was bad and cheapened the original. The Rocky story was wrapped-up nicely in the first movie. A life-long loser and "could have been a contender"-type gets his one shot and gives it his all, while also finding love along the way. We didn't really need to see him win the title, become rich and famous, and single-handedly end the Cold War after that.

on here before but the original screenplay for Rocky V had Rocky dying at the end (and widowing a pregnant Adrian.) The studio wouldn't let Stallone do it. But I don't think killing Rocky at the end would have saved that piece of crap. "Go for it, Rock!"
Criticism of Rocky is unwarranted. Yes, fight movies that were made after Rocky had more realistic fight scenes, but the scenes were extremely well made for their time.
As for criticism that the fight would have been stopped in real life: again, that's a criticism made from a modern perspective. Stallone based the movie on a real 1975 fight between Ali and Chuck Wepner, a nobody who was given no chance to last 3 rounds. He lasted 15 rounds despite a broken nose and cuts opened above both eyes. It was a different era.

Wasn't a bad movie, but IMO was more of a chick flick than a sports movie.....
Bull Durham was great because the actors pulled it off...still surprises me how good the comedy between Costner and Tim Robbins was, Susan Sarandon was perfect as one of the classic movie cougars of all time, and the manager guy and Robert Wuhl were hilarious in their small parts.
The look on the manager's face when Robert Wuhl is explaining how Nuke is wearing garters and breathing out of his eyelids sums up the movie perfectly...it was pretty silly, but they got it just right
How did they have the climax take place in a damn hurricane and not one person in the production said, "You realize no baseball game would even be played in this kind of weather?"
After that I wouldn't watch the sequels.

There was a movie on the other night, Bang the Drum Slowly which is highly acclaimed, I believe.
But Robert DiNero is just not believable as a pro baseball player. Very non-athletic.

I enjoyed Bagger Vance as well. I also have a spot for For the Love of the Game too. Preston is an absolutely knockout smokeshow IMO.

The Legend of Bagger Vance- I thought it was an OK movie, definitely not deserving of being on any worst list.
