Giants representative says he doesn't believe Beckham is anything serious, mostly a rest day, but Coughlin will have more. So, Ok.
but I don't know if people have dealt with muscle pulls. Just when you think you are healthy you need another week or two at the minimum if you want it to fully heal.
but I don't know if people have dealt with muscle pulls. Just when you think you are healthy you need another week or two at the minimum if you want it to fully heal.
I would be less worried if he didnt have chronic hamstring pulls in College...the only reason no one made a big deal about it was becaus ehe showed up on Saturdays and played...that isnt going to fly here..
Beatty is our LT and we have no backup. If Pugh can move to LT in case of an emergency then we are better off. I still don't understand why Schwartz has not been rotating at RG.
Promises to be a very long and disappointing season, and his name is Beckham. If Indy had Luck and the rest of their first string had played four quarters four healthy Beckham's wouldn't have made a difference in the final out come, any one could see their was a forty point gap between these teams. As Joe Friday would say just the facts mam just the facts. We're a lousy team and the 2015 draft is about all we have to look forward to.
not feeling that optimistic about the giants right now either but let's stop with the pity party.
We've seen two super bowls in the last 7 calendar years. Did you think it would be all roses? We had a string of good luck and fortune that netted a couple super bowls. We're experiencing a string of bad fortune/luck right now but the season is far from over.
Everyone's dick will be hard if they beat the lions. Let's chill out a little bit.
Resting hammy...need to bring him slow...
really disappointed grimble has been out
a month ....really thought he was a weapon...
wont make team if he doesnt practice
I was literally 10 feet from where he ended his run on his only catch in team portion. He was not touched and he pulled up lame. There is not doubt in my mind he tweaked his hammy again.
You sound like an idiot. You knew Martin was the obvious pick over beckham because you knew beckham would have hamstring issues in training camp?
You don't know shit. You're just babbling. Steve Smith missed a lot of time during training camp/regular season but he was a huge x-factor in our SB run.
Take your tampon out and stop crying. Let's see what happens.
Let's hope your wrong and they are now playing with the OL like if with a reduced roster of 8 OL and they had to make a move in a game what would it be?
Also, assume Richburg wins the starting guard. Doesn't Mosley at Tackle become a realistic backup scenario?
I don't see them carying more then 8 of these guys, especially with the option of Hermann coming off suspended list 4 games in.
disappointing about Beckham. As someone said, if he ever does get healthy, he's going to be very far behind. I didn't know he had chronic hamstring issues in college. Did the Giants think that problem wouldn't reoccur once he got to the NFL?
Connor Hughes @Connor_J_Hughes 28s
"No I don't think Beckham hurt himself." Coughlin said. Mentioned he was sore. Team doctors said no set back. #Giants
Connor Hughes @Connor_J_Hughes 28s
Here it is. Beckham will NOT play on Friday versus the Jets. May not have re injured, but according to Coughlin this ruled him out #Giants
Why the hell can't they just say what everyone knows.
Also I agree with Eric. This is going to be an atrocious year. Eli in 7 on 7 yesterday was the Eli we all remember from years ago. The second they went to 11 on 11 he turned to shit (not his fault..... was pressured immediately on every play)
This whole thing smells bad. We're being lied to. I think they are circling the wagons, because the press is killing the terrible offense, and now the #1 pick will miss the entire training camp, injured.
And Did We Need An O-Lineman With Our 1st Round Draft Pick In '07? No!! The Fortress Of Diehl, Seubert, O'Hara, Snee And McKenzie Was Already Formed. Idiot.
Beckham isn't even the problem here. This line is just a fucking mess still. The WR's we have would be completely fine if the QB actually had time to throw and could get his mechanics all straight.
The dude was our 1st rd pick for a reason and is clearly talented and can add a dimension to the offense. But none of it matters if we can't pass protect and it looks like right now, we're no better off than we were last year.
Lots of concerns for sure but the reality is you can't take much from the preseason. Through the years there are tons of examples of great preseason teams having horrible regular seasons and vice versa. In 2007 the giants looked like the worst team in football in the preseason and the 1st 2 games of the year. People are too worked up. Again it could be a bad year but judging that based on preseason 'stuff' is presumptuous.
you mean like 2011 when the Giants were last in rushing and Eli had poor pass pro from both tackle spots? (pass pro was steadier from inside...so you could make that argument)
Decent defense, but the QB isn't very good and the offense could be downright dreadful.
Little dramatic here. Obviously respect the work you put in on the team, but I don't think this is warranted. Anyone who thought they were going to waltz through the preseason with an unfamiliar o-line and a new offense is misguided. Saying this is going to be a "bad, bad year" in week 3 of the preseason, is silly.
Did you see Luck the other night? His OL isnt bad perse but he was under pressure a lot, yet he stepped up, was calm, made precise throws. Eli is under pressure and is totally rattled.
to fill an immediate and glaring need at X WR. The pick was a remote thrower for me. I wanted Martin and hoped he and Pugh would be the cornerstones of a young and solid OL. The draft was deep at WR and Giants could have picked a WR in second round. When Beckham was interviewed at draft the chick interviewing him looked taller and tougher. Still, I understood the pick and hoped he was a real player and game breaker we needed.
Then he injured his hammy signing his contract and missed the OTA's.
Then he missed minicamp.
Then he was hurt at his first practice.
Then he missed every preseason game and re-injured himself while making his only reception when he returned to practice.
Time to IR Becky and put him on the bike for his rookie year. He is now officially another project. Lam Jones and Charles Rogers put up numbers in their rookie years Becky will not get close to. Because he never plays. Maybe he is not a bust but he is certainly a bust for this year.
Yeah, let's just IR him and waste his entire rookie year for no reason. If he's got a hamstring pull in August, there's certainly nothing to be gained this year.
No chance he'll learn anything or get any experience.
they have had this week, the jets game, all of next week to practice, the Pats game...the entire following week to heal up and practice before their 1st game.
Beckham will hopefully practice next week, play in the Pats game...have the entire week after to practice. I realized him having no camp sucks...but he was the most "NFL ready" WR in the draft. I believe he can have an impact even if he's in a limited role. (Punt return game, works a little in the slot, etc....even if he's only in for lets say 1/3 of the games.)
This should be a good defense....lots of versatility, they've been solid in the run defense in preseason, and were a good run defense last year. They have the best cover people they've had in awhile. This will all depend on JPP's ability/health and Moore's continued development.
Special teams should be better than last year...much better. Quinn has been on the hot seat in th past...his group will be ready. I like our kicking game.
If we can play dink and dunk the 1st few games...and not turn the ball over, the defense will keep them in the games...and they will be comptetitive. Eventually I think this offense finds its groove. Cruz, Randle, Beckham, Jennings, Williams....that is solid talent.
the defense could be good, but probably not good enough to carry the team without some consistent offensive production.
Eli has a lot of questions to answer, and was pretty damn lousy last year, but it feels a little melodramatic to flat out call him "not very good."
I will agree with Eric that the offense could be dreadful, with COULD being the operative word. I don't think they will be great, but if they can pull it together, i am willing to go out on a limb and say they could be middle of the pack.....
i don't think i am painting an overly optimistic picture, and it certainly doesn't look like a playoff team on paper, but it would be nice if some of the doom saying could be curbed until we see what happens in a real, meaningful game of football.
Eli has played 3 quarters in the first 3 games. The system is new, the OL is new the TE is new and only Cruz has a rapport with Eli. It will take time and most likely into the season before the offense will get going. The defense has to carry this team at the beginning of the season. If we are 2-2 after 4 weeks with the defense playing well which I expect. It s not like were not 3-0 in the preseason playing like crap. It will get better. Dallas has no defense, RG3 can't stay away from big hits and Phil will be the favorite.
would helpboth the middleof the line, help Beatty, and improve Eli's chances of not getting killed from the blindside.
Anyone know if one might be available?:-)
Oh, and he's officially a "bust" according to this fucking moronic poster. Good stuff.
Hey fuckwad, I said a bust this year. I guess you haven't noticed he hurts his hammy every time he tries to play despite getting weeks of rest. What makes anyone think his hammy will suddenly heal next week or the week after when it has not healed in a month of rest and he just pulled it again?
At some point they will need the roster spot for some one that can play.
Me too. I hope a lot of things are not as they seem right now, but I am not blind to the struggles.
Just listening to mainstays on the team like JPP admitting that there's really "nothing to play for" in the preseason has to temper your frustrations a bit. Obviously, I'd love for every player to have the compete and win mentality at all times, but the truth is, this is not reality. Even some of the greatest Giants and players in history, like Michael Strahan, were vocally against the rigors of camp. Though I do think the offensive woes are more than just people loafing because it doesn't count, you do have to consider the fact that the stakes just simply aren't that high. When you only have a few series to get going and the defense across from you is blitzing to exploit what they know is a new offensive unit, you have to expect a lack of flow to start. I would anticipate the opening weeks to be shaky, but I have witnessed too much positive in Coughlin's and Eli's tenures to think it's just simply nonexistent anymore.
Can carry this team to start the year, as they are likely to get off to a slow start. However, there are 2 things this offense absolutely can't do for this to happen.
1.) Is turn the ball over
2.) Is they can't give our defense half a field to work with like they did last year; that means no quick 3 and outs, but rather longer short/ intermediate methodical drives.
I think if they can do this they can be sucessful enough to be in it to compete in this division. I think more importantly, these two points are going to be necessary for in order to get this offense up to speed. They have to keep these games close, they have a good power run game going for them and they need to work that to there advantage. Getting down in points can take that away from them if they have to play catch-up. They ran very well compared to last year this pre-season. Yes the colts shut them down, but the Colts have improved dramatically in their Run Defense; pretty sure they lead the league so far this pre- season.
I will remain cautiously optimistic about this team this year. I like the moves they made in the off- season, it's now just about getting everyone to gel together. We just have to hope it gels before it falls apart.
Everything in your post was completely moronic. But that's par for the course for you.
You don't just IR a 1st rd pick because of a hamstring pull. Especially not in August. When you figure that part out, and subsequently realize how ridiculous your "idea" was, let us know.
I'm sure you're so much tougher than "Becky", though. You'd definitely be out there gutting it out!
1) We don't KNOW he re injured his hammy. It may be a reasonable assumption, but that is all it is at this point.
2) Muscle pulls don't heal over night, and often don't fully heal in a month. Hopefully, at some point it is fully healed, until then can't we just hope for the best without dooming his season? Even if he isn't fully healthy until week three or four, there is no reason he couldn't get worked in at PR and WR and contribute this season more than, say Preston Parker (if the decision was Beckham to IR or Parker gets cut).
3) Hey Eric, you answer people's questions sometimes: what's a fuckwad?
Oh, and he's officially a "bust" according to this fucking moronic poster. Good stuff.

I was for firing KG but bring in a guy who
never calls a play in NFL?
Why do backup qbs pass great and Eli cant?
Oline a problem but Eli cant make 1 pass?
Eli is a bad short passer w bad touch..
he seem to be changing plays often and backups seem to
play out whats called..
backups have better wrs..yeah right now thats true because
in practice backup qbs are more successful..
I hope TC is smart enough to figure out problem
by adding harris and Wash to 1st team or by trying
Nassib to 1st team..this way it shows if its eli
Beckham is a straight baller and this offense will be all about getting the ball to playmakers and letting them make plays. So maybe missing practice time won't be that big a deal for him, especially now that he won't have to learn an over-complicated system.
I think everyone's frustrated that Beckham hasn't been able to get on the field.
I also think there's large difference between being frustrated and making ludicrous statements/suggestions and coming off as a raving lunatic. It would be nice if we could eliminate the latter from these threads but someone's always got to be that guy.
0-6 Remember we were terrible. Manning was terrible, we didn't have weapons and our OL stunk and we had no pass rush.
That said - I think rather then saying it's a bad team, it's more accurate to reflect it as a work in progress.
The Colts game was sobering but also a blessing in disguise.
The Pass Rush is still currently non existent, the OL is in flux and there are still no weapons on the offense. Our offense isn't scaring anyone right now based on the personal we have and probably won't scare anyone any time soon. And Manning is playing like crap.
In order to fix Manning not playing like crap we need the following:
1) The O-line to stabalize
2) Establish a viable running game
3) Keep the Defense honest / make them pay for doubling Cruz
4) Manning to feel comfortable in the Offense
This is going to continue to take some time. It's not like we have Calvin Johnson getting open on every play.
The start of the season is a crapshot. If there's anyway we can come out of the first 4 games with as many or more wins then loses I think we have a shot of staying competitive for the middle of the season. The team's best hope is to kick into high gear for the end of the season.
I think the oline will be much better. ..Reese should try
to upgrade 2 or 3 guys whens cuts come..I fear eli
is more of the problem. .the proof is on tape....backup
qbs doing better w backup oline...so macs system works..
Eli cant throw a long or short pass so he may have..
injury , nerves. ...foot problems...ect
jets always beat him up...you know hes going down...
I put him in 10 plays max ...if he sucks put nassib In
with 1st unit for a qtr. See what happens
The hilarious thing about this post is that I can hear your arm breaking in half from patting yourself on the back for throwing your remote when they drafted Beckham and preferring Martin.
You've fully evaluated the tradeoff between the Martin and Beckham picks 3 weeks into the preseason. Brilliant.
Also, he has a hamstring injury and he's a speed guy...what the hell does that have to do with his toughness? Trot Beckham out there at 75% and you're taking his #1 skillset and rendering it useless. This has nothing to do with toughness/size. Also, regarding questioning Beckham's size and toughness, I'll see if I can find the clip of him breaking CJ Mosely in half for you, you seem uninformed.
He may not be playing very well right now but it's really a stretch to say Eli is not a very good quarterback. He needs to be able to trust his O line and his receivers and right now he can't. Constant pressure and no weapons will make most QBs look bad.

I have to agree with Eric. Look at his body of work from the end of 2012 through the Indy game. Overall, he has just sucked. They say that in Troy Aikman's last year he was seeing a "deer in the headlights" and the team knew he was done. Eli is skittish now.
And see much reason for optimism, especially given their peculiar recent trend of being unable to maintain positive development of their promising players. There aren't many players on the team that leave me feeling like we'll enjoy watching them put forth a remarkable career for years to come. But you never know. That trend can vanish just as suddenly as it surfaced.
Giants are in full pads, the "healthy" Odell Beckham Jr. is not and is off to the side
Holliday, Prince, Brown, Grimble, Hillis, Brewer also out #Giants
In 29 days since training camp opened, WR Odell Beckham Jr. has been full participant in ZERO practices. #giants
Again, never trust a player for providing a self-diagnosed injury update.

Yikes.

Justin Pugh is lined up at left tackle with the first team. First time we have seen this.
Woah, different oline marched out:
Pugh LT, Schwartz LG, Walton C, Richburg RG, Mosley RT #Giants
Again, Beatty back at first-team LT. Pugh likely getting reps there out of necessity. #NYG

What a bunch of BS we are getting now - "it's a rest day"
Please!
The frustrating part about all of this is hearing and seeing how good all these other rookie WRs are doing. And the fact that we desperately need him.
Think positive thoughts.
Plax, any other unsigned FA WR, and the first cut WRs seem like they will get phone calls from NYFG soon.
You don't know shit. You're just babbling. Steve Smith missed a lot of time during training camp/regular season but he was a huge x-factor in our SB run.

Ebenezer Samuel @ebenezersamuel
Will say this...and practice just started a bit ago...seeing more pace and quick decisive throws from O today.

I understand it's Eric posting Connor's tweet and then reacting to it, but I love the visual of Eric replying to and disagreeing with his own post!
Justin Pugh is lined up at left tackle with the first team. First time we have seen this.
We're we all delusional or was the body language in the Giants draft room negative when Lewan was selected?
Pugh at LT? What a joke
It doesn't do any good other than to limit the blood in the water the press and fans are already in a frenzy over.
They need to get the 2nd round pick in the lineup, and get Schwartz to his more comfortable side IMO.
They need to get the 2nd round pick in the lineup, and get Schwartz to his more comfortable side IMO.
I echo these sentiments. Left to right will hopefully be Beatty, Richburg, Walton, Schwartz and Pugh, but what do I know? I went to public schools.
Decent defense, but the QB isn't very good and the offense could be downright dreadful.
I'm not there every day, I trust their judgement. I just see him more of a backup.

Honestly it really feels like it.
all crumble.
No hope of a Wild Card.
Wow.. arc arsenic.. that's real good. How long did you spend on that one?
You have to call like you see it.
I have to agree with Eric. Look at his body of work from the end of 2012 through the Indy game. Overall, he has just sucked. They say that in Troy Aikman's last year he was seeing a "deer in the headlights" and the team knew he was done. Eli is skittish now.
